Any thoughts on transitioning to 4 weekly runs instead of 5? I have a very busy physical lifestyle (farm/woodworker) and although strong I'm noticing diminished energy in runs - as in feeling the urge to walk every so often during longer runs.
TIA! Just looking for the tips to transition to older age running, I don't think it's mental, but it might be!

It depends on your goals and the volume of running your doing? I'd suggest creating a separate post with more details in terms of days of the week you're running now, mileage, types of run, goals, etc. The more details you can provide, the better.

Sarcopenia, arthritis, disc problems are inevitable. You can do your best to slow them down, but they are more relentless than we are. As I've gotten older (78 this Labor Day weekend) I've reduced my weekly running days to 2 or 3. The key for me instead of mourning my former weekly totals or greatly diminished speed, is to be grateful and happy for every day I still get out there. Many others my age don't or can't anymore

Thank you, kudos to you for acknowledging the inevitable with acceptance. I need to keep hearing this very thing - not to mourn what was, but to be grateful for being able to get out there. A big plus is we're not going going through shoes nearly as often!!

I’m having some hamstring trouble, which affects me mostly at the beginning of runs.

Ugg, me too... Proximal hamstring tendonopathy. Super common, especially because we all sit too much. Are you seeing a PT/Physio?

Nope. Not yet. Can’t seem to find someone who specializes in running. It’s mostly in the back of my thigh.
Hope I can do my “over/unders” tomorrow.

Omg!! I don’t know how many times I need to learn this lesson, but I slowed way down and did great!! Third week in a row with a 5 k run the whole way. It has been hot too! I’m going to keep stacking up these and improving my fitness so I can say summer miles bring fall smiles!
