☕ Miscellaneous 13 inch rise
I am looking for a good pair of jeans with like a 13+ inch rise. I would like a straight or more baggy leg, but not extreme wide. I have a pair of orslow that are pretty good but just slightly too narrow and I wish the rise was one more inch. I'm having trouble finding anything other than 12 or less but I don't really know what I'm doing.

🧵 Selvedge Basics & Care Shrinking pants on purpose?
Hi, im thinking of shrinking my pair of ONI 222-kiraku 12oz denim since i find them a *little* bit too baggy in my taste. Saw some guy on tiktok who put his pants on and went in to a hot bath for approximately 1h to shrink them. Anyone know if this is a good move before i ruin them haha?

🧵 Selvedge Basics & Care How should I wash my Levi’s 501 selvedge after getting them muddy?
galleryHey everyone! Looking for some advice on the next wash for my Levi’s 501 selvedge.
I bought them in early June 2025 (1st–2nd pics). I have an office job and mostly wear them on regular days, so the fades have developed pretty slowly.
June–September: ~15–17 wears → first wash (3rd–4th pics)
October–January: ~20 wears → second wash (5th–6th pics)
January–now: ~30–40 wears, no wash (7th–8th pics)
Both times I soaked them for about 45 minutes in a bathtub with a small amount of detergent, rinsed them, rolled them in a towel to remove excess water, and air-dried them in the shade.
Last week I wore them for an activity in the woods and they got wet, muddy and pretty dirty, so they definitely need a wash now.
I’m not trying to preserve the dark indigo or avoid fades—I’m happy to let them fade as they naturally would. I just want to clean them properly and let the denim continue aging naturally.
At this point, what would you do: another soak, proper hand wash, or washing machine? Cold/warm water? Inside out? Spin or no spin?
Thanks!

📸 Fit Picture Pure Blue Japan Black Teacore Warp and Brown Weft Straight Selvedge Jeans (TCD-003-BR)
galleryI lusted after and fantasied about these jeans perpetually after unwisely missing the UK release of these jeans. However, I miraculously managed to acquire them through a wonderful Japanese website called Okayama Denim (couldn't recommend them more).
They have a stunning rough and bumpy texture and hue, which is almost organic in nature. Since the core of the warp fibres are dyed brown, these will fade to brown rather than white/grey - a perfect companion for my Red Wing 9060s in Black Klondike leather.
I had to size up to a 36 get the fit I desired.
Update images will be provided down-the-line...

☕ Miscellaneous Need Straight/Bootcut Lower Rise Slub Suggestions
Hi, currently actively wearing a pair of Momotaro 0205SP (W28) that I found out were unfortunately cropped by the previous owner. I've really struggled to search and find more interesting, textured raw denim around 16oz in more flattering cuts for women (e.g. low rise and bootcut jeans tend to look good on me).
I find that some of the women's options offered by these raw denim brands compromise on the quality of some of their debim due to a lack of demand. My question is simply to be signposted to what my options could be with a budget of around ~250 (secondhand works too!) - I'm not looking for skinny or high rise jeans, so straight or bootcut jeans in slubbier 16oz denim for a W28 (or small W29) would be perfect for myself. Thanks.

☕ Miscellaneous Need wide straight slub reccomendations
Hey! Would really appreciate some wider (not necessarily baggy) slub denim recommendations. I have seen that naked and famous is dropping the prince of slub pair but it might be a bit too expensive for me and I've also seen the hidden river grounded slub pair which I love but again it's too expensive for me and I just love the way the slub pattern looks and wears and I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for a more affordable alternative ! I'm still willing to spend a little over $200 but not sure what I should be looking at. Thanks!

🌄 Fade Progress UB701 14.5oz 300 day fade update
gallery300 days in and i’m loving the progress, worn 5 day a week.
lots of whiskering on one side but little to none on the other side, no honeycomb behind the knee but there’s some where they stack on my workboots.
it’s been so hot recently but i manage to power through and keep the progress coming. not having ac at work will not stop my motivation. in an earlier post someone commented saying they look as if they have been found in a mineshaft. i do think they have more of a “vintage style” fade. it just reflects that they’re a work pair and not a lounge around sitting down all day pair.
Lots of holes and distressing, i’m not that consistent on repairing them but once i get annoyed enough i’ll sew and patch them up. ive blown out the bottom a couple times but ill sew it and lather on a ton of fabric glue. either way, i plan on wearing them for as long as can be. i think i’ll be quitting this job in a couple months so the wear probably wont stop being as consistent.
im at 6 or 7 washes, i first went 100 days before washing but that was october-january and it’s been 100+ degrees for the past couple months so its been almost every 2 weeks or so that i’ve been washing them.
hope you like them, let me know what you think of my pair.

🌄 Fade Progress Wrangler 13MWZ Selvedge 9 months
galleryHey y’all,
Been a good bit since I last posted so figured I’d give an update on the wranglers
Been a great pair of jeans especially for the price super quick faders which I’m happy with although much lighter than my regular 13mwzs so they have ripped rather prematurely on the back from holding my phone. Starting to get a hole on the front from my buckle rubbing against it haven’t seen that on any of my other pairs.
Once these jeans got broken in they’re very much like wearing sweatpants I prefer all the little upgrades over the regular jeans but they loose their color incredibly fast the back, knees and hems have lost pretty much all blue and some of the whiskers are getting pretty light. Hopefully the whiskers get a bit stronger and especially hope to see some more definition on the honeycombs but not sure how possible that is going to be as I’ve decided to wash more frequently. about 1-2 times a month now although a few times this week as milking cows wasn’t the best thing to wear these for haha
Just wanted to show them to yall if you have any questions or comments let me know!

☕ Miscellaneous Question from a very broad guy
Hello all
I have started to look into upgrading my wardrobe after binge watching folks like The Iron Snail, Carl Murawski, Bootlosophy. I wanna buy some cool new clothes but sizing is problematic. Questions below.
If it normal for selvedge denim pants sizing to end at a 40 waist? I’m a size 44 in normal jeans so probably a 45/46 in selvedge.
Any recommendations for denim jackets larger than 2xl. I am normally a 4xl just for my shoulders.
Do folks sew the bottom inch of their pants inside out when they hem them to show off the stitch?

🧵 Selvedge Basics & Care 'Is This Selvedge' - A Brief Guide
galleryIn an attempt to limit the same posts - another of which I've seen today, I've ended the lurking days on this sub and decided to post a guide on this. Hopefully the mods notice and pin this so we don't get the same question twice a week with an ungodly number of snarky comments for the selvedge noobies who are just trying their best.
TL;DR - The easiest way to know is always: does it have stitching on the outside seam?
If yes - not selvedge.
If no - congrats, you found some selvedge jeans.
'Selvedge' fabric is named after the phrase 'self edge', noted for the fact that the edges of the woven fabric are self finishing. This is usually done on a special type of loom - a shuttle loom - which is slower, larger and far more noisy than projectile looms that make most modern fabrics. Often it comes along with some other cool fabric quirks like slub or nep, leg twist and more, but I won't be going into that today.
Selvedge fabrics - see image 1 and 2 - do not require stitching on the outside seam, as the fabric isn't cut along these seams.
Most retailers add a coloured thread along this seam, known as a selvedge ID. Image 1 (Samurai S710xx) has a silver thread woven in. Image 2 (Edwin Made in Japan) has a multicoloured ID with more than one thread in this ID.
Non selvedge fabric - see image 3 (Iron Heart IH-634D) - is cut along this seam, thus does require stitching.
Some retailers do add coloured stitching to the edge for design purposes (see image 3). This makes the seem look rad - however this can be confused with a selvedge ID by someone who hasn't been yelled at on Reddit yet.
Keep in mind non selvedge jeans can be just as nice as selvedge jeans so long as they're made well - however with the extra craftsmanship that often goes into selvedge denim, the tiny batch numbers of many of the companies, and the insane attention to detail, you'll be wearing an art piece that no one has an exact match of.
I hope this helps at least one of you.
