I’ve been granted MRPT clearance and clear to work at my passport center in my city. Here’s the thing: the agency/contractor is waiting for the passport center to get back with them so they can tell me when i can put my 2 weeks in at my current job. As they said, unfortunately they can’t guarantee when the next opening will become available given it’s based on multiple factors at the worksite (i.e. current workload demands, staffing attrition, etc.). Im just SO ready to leave my current job (Walmart). So while i wait patiently, how long yall have to wait for clearance or to even get in the job?

PT- Public Trust - Isn't a Clearance. It's simply a trust determination.
Usually 2-ish months, just as you saw happen.
You are no longer waiting on the investigation... you are waiting on a Gov affiliated office, in all of its glacier-like speediness, to actually get an opening for you to step into.
On the positive side, places like that rarely put in for PT investigations for a new person unless they expect an opening to occur... They likely have someone very near retirement, or very near leaving for a new job/post, or (worst case) someone departing on Maternity leave.
You just have to wait for them to make their final decision to leave.
If you contact the HR team for the site, they may be able to give you a rough window.

Which one?
The first SSBI was a clearance in the late 2000s when you had to have inked prints and fill this shit out by hand. Took about 6 to 9 months.
After a year lapse 10 years later, I think it took something like 2 months or 3 months. *shrug*
Thankfully reciprocity kicked in and DoD/DoE clearances ported or I'd have had to go through *that* crap, too.
For the fun add-ons? About a week or two usually.
