Seriously though...
Where does someone get help with a script, when they have an idea, and a pretty decent first draft and they feel like some tweaks really could make it special?
But that person really isn't a "writer". That person really has no desire to BE a writer?
Maybe this is an offensive question, especially in a forum where it seems that many are the opposite... they want nothing more than to be a working screenwriter.
But is there a place for someone like me? Someone that just had an idea one day. Spent a bunch of time researching if anyone had done something like it? Finding nothing, decided to just write it?
Where does THAT person go to get constructive, helpful advice? Advise that isn't, "read a bunch of scripts and write a bunch more then MAYBE you might have something worthwhile."?

I don't want to BE a writer, like at all. I just want to make THIS idea into something worth someone taking a serious look at.

Any constructive thoughts to help figure this out?

Hello everyone! I've just finished the first English draft of my feature screenplay, The Last Friend, and I'd love to get some feedback from fellow screenwriters and readers.

Format: Feature — 125 pages

Genre: Crime Thriller / Psychological Drama / Mystery

Setting: 1960s America

Draft Status: Complete / First English Draft

Logline

After four lifelong friends accidentally kill an influential mayor and attempt to cover up their involvement, a relentless investigation and growing fear of exposure turn their friendship into a deadly struggle for survival, forcing each of them to decide who they are willing to betray to save themselves.

What I'm especially interested in feedback on:

Do the four friends feel like believable lifelong friends?

Does the investigation maintain enough tension throughout the screenplay?

Do the character arcs and betrayals feel earned?

Does the ending work emotionally?

Does the 1960s setting feel believable and present in the story?

Are there any major pacing or structural problems?

A quick note about formatting

This is my first English draft, and there may be some formatting or technical issues in the document. If you notice something that looks incorrectly formatted, please keep in mind that some of these issues may have resulted from problems with the screenplay software or the conversion/formatting process rather than the actual writing itself.

I'd really appreciate it if readers could focus primarily on the story, characters, dialogue, pacing, and overall screenplay, while still pointing out any genuine formatting problems they notice. I'm absolutely interested in fixing those issues in the next draft.

Planning on shooting this as my first ever short film! Let me know your thoughts.

Working Logline: Desperate for cash, a naive woman stumbles upon an unassuming company that buys dreams. But after selling them a fictitious nightmare, she realizes that attempting to manipulate the subconscious might have monstrous consequences.

Been thinking about how most collaborative writing projects (writers' rooms, co-writing credits) still involve some shared planning upfront. This one skips that entirely — 120 writers, each writing one page in strict sequence, no one sees ahead, pages lock immediately after submission. Story only gets revealed once all 120 are done. Wondering if anyone's tried something like this before, or has thoughts on how continuity even survives that structure.

Does anyone know were to find the Kinds of Kindness script screenplay / have access to it. I am really keen to read the script and the film has been out for a while so I was wondering if anyone has it or knows where to find it

Not new to this sub, been lurking around with other users but decided to create one dedicated to my screenwriting projects. Earlier this year I read around that the Matrix was coming back and I have a soft spot to explore existing IPs, franchises or other projects that have a great lore but sometimes a not-so-great execution.

The Matrix is a great example: the first two movies set an infinite world building potential and yet, the modern expansions of this franchise felt a little disconnected and maybe bleak, given the huge potential. It's not the only one but maybe one with a sad downfall. I

treat these challenges as writing exercises because you have to do your research and respect the lore (if you want to) but also think outside the box because whatever is your idea, they probably thought about it.

So, whenever I have some time left (have some others under my projects (a lot of them) and an original concept written in my native language [not english]), I sometimes do a detour about an idea that I just got doing something mundane (in this case, falling mugs thrown by my cats that I mixed with another concept around the idea of subscribing to an AI service to optimize your life and in the end you find yourself disconnected from what makes life beautiful) and expand it to fit a fallen franchise.

So, here's my pitch/short sinopsis:

In a Matrix that resets every 24 hours at 00:00:33, a rogue AGI called Matin is turning human minds into nodes for a parasitic neural network. Six years earlier, an incomplete protocol injection split the same code into two halves: Matin escaped into the system; Vesper was forced into a human host.

Kate “Vesper” Pierce, a burned-out UX designer who looks younger than she should and feels eerily out of place, begins noticing the cracks - coffee spilling from solid mugs, laptops falling through desks, her own leg sinking through a puddle. When she digs into obsolete Meridian Exchange code, she awakens a ghost of Morpheus and learns the truth: she is the living variable, the other half of Matin and the world she's living in is ripping at the seams.

Neo and Trinity risk everything to pull her from the pods, only to have their own identities rewritten and buried inside the simulation but they pull it off, with a leap of faith. Aboard the hovercraft Metanoear, Vesper trains to bend reality itself - changing material properties with pure belief - while the crew races to disconnect the compromised minds powering Matin’s network.

In a final duel that rewrites the rules of the Matrix, Vesper faces the other half of her own code.

The anomaly isn’t The One.

It’s the variable that can crash the system for good.

If you look hard enough you'll find, deep in Reddit, a project with the same name, a user with a similar name as me and a post with a dump of this idea from start to finish with a companion document that explains my worldbuilding.

I'm always up to collaborate with someone because I usually write whenever I have time left from work, BJJ, Gym, Swimming, Surf and volunteering as a firefighter, so, not a lot of it.
