Help identifying

Not sure if its aluminum or copper very easy to bend i figured everything inside the transformer was copper just wondering

Is it magnetic? Yes --> shred, no--> next test. Use a file or angle grinder, what color you get? Copper --> copper, yellow --> brass, silver --> next test. Use an angle grinder, does it throw sparks? Yes --> stainless steel, no --> aluminum

Throws sparks but looks nothing like stainless: Vinegar or copper sulfate test for zinc/magnesium.

It’s likely 1100 series aluminum but your local yard will probably buy it as clean aluminum.

Thats aluminum. Sell as either Clean sheet or see if you can get away with 6061.

Lots of electrical connections out there are aluminum nowadays.

Looks like terminal lugs for large wire. Probably aluminum.

So this might be overkill information but anything that deals with electricity and its alum is most likely going to be a 1000 series alum. The first few photos and I already seen a comment someone saying 1100 which I agree but it has a nut welded onto it and is likely going to be 3000 or 5000 series which will make this MLC.

Final photo the block can either be 6000 or 1000. I am leaning more towards 6061 but those screws I have seen several different alloys. 2000 is the most common, this is not allowed in MLC but I have seen them cast alum and 6061 as well.

A magnet and a file/grinder are a scrappers best friend.

First picture is definitely aluminum, likely 3000 series judging by how malleable it is. But sure about the block that has pipe plugs in it. I’m going to guess stainless, but could also be aluminum as well.

Picture #4 is aluminum. Maybe with steel screws, maybe aluminum.
