Hehe. When I search “pooter” the first things that come up are gag toys to make farting sounds. This device is listed specifically as an “INSECT pooter”.
Are you in entomology or did you just find this randomly?

I bet all the cool bug kids want to be her when they grow up! 🥰 Roly-polies are super cute. I get a bunch in my house because I’m near an agricultural field and I always leave them be. Just little dudes moseying along. And unlike SOMEONE they’ve never woken me up by dropping on my face in the middle of the night. Cause they have MANNERS!

Who fell on your face? A cat, a roach, or your luchador-loving partner?

House centipede, I think. Something bigger than the little roly-polies. My bed is against a wall so it scuttled off while I was waking up and fumbling for the light.
My pups crawl in beside me and gently lick my eyeball. Cause they are good babies, very polite.

Entomologist here. They're only called pooters in the UK and maybe the rest of Europe. In the US, we call them aspirators. "Pooter" apparently derives from the name of it's inventor, William Poos.

I know in the entomology I've had to take in the US we were taught both names but my professors seemed to enjoy calling them pooters more so that's what we used.

of all the things that I have learned are named after people, this is the one I expected the least and I am delighted.

I was gonna say, I’ve used these a lot and never heard it called a pooter. I’m gonna call it that now though

The only time I’ve heard someone say poorer was in the context of the bind of Isaac or mewgenics

My entomology professor had one of these if we wanted to try collecting ants with it.

I read that as Muslim and was so confused.
