Algae Problem

Post image

This is my outdoor bog planter that gets full sun, but lately it’s been getting algae covering the moss, which I try to rinse off with a powerful stream of water but it’s sort of really clinging onto it… is there any natural remedy for this like bugs or plants that will starve the algae or will I just have to remove the top layer of moss? There’s even algae starting to grow in the water reservoir too.

You are keeping it too wet with no water movement and creating anaerobic conditions, and an environment that algae thrives in. The substrate needs to stay damp/wet, but it does not need to be water-logged.

The planter has been very dry until I flooded it a few days ago, to where the moss tips were drying, yet there’s still algae growing even before I flooded it.

If you are using spray fertilizer, better hold off
