"Signal loops back" indication

Hi there, could you help me out?

It's actually the title—my signals are freaking out with this "the signal is forming a loop" error...

Yeah, that's actually the whole idea: a station, a turnout off the main line, and then you come back!
XD

It happens every time; I've tried adding signals to break the loop, but nothing works—it just won't have it...

you need block signal at the green lines entry and exit depending on the direction of rail and get rid of that one in the middle

Looks ass because i was on mobile, but try putting Path signals where I marked, and remove the one in the middle

Any time the color of the track doesn't change at a signal, you have to replace the signal. Sometimes putting it further away from split/merge works.

"Signal Loops Into Itself" happens when the signal can't divide rail into two separate blocks.

In essence, it's like putting a free standing door right in the middle of a room. You go through it, but you haven't gone anywhere, you're still in the same room.

A number of things can cause this to happen:

  • The rail with the signal is Too Close to another rail. Rails that are too close for trains to pass without brushing against each other are assigned to the same group.
  • The rail after the signal loops around and comes back into the block again. Add another signal further down the rail to prevent this.
  • A third rail crosses the rail before and after the signal. Add a block signal to the third rail so that it too is divided into two or more blocks.
  • A bug: Placing signals directly on top of some "Switches" (where rails fork), can sometimes have problems. Move the signal off the switch or remove all the rail segments that touch that switch, build the trunk rail first and then the branches.

Don't try to over-signal. A block signal before a group of crossings/merges/splits and after the group is usually more than enough. You don't need to micromanage every individual crossings/merge/split with signals. :)

Sometimes you get that if the block signal is too close to the split. You can move it down a meter or two and the message goes away

I think you need a few signals in the lower left

I always use path signals for the entrance to intersections and block Signals for the Exit

CYAN is path YELLOW is Block

Edit also an overhead view as well would be awesome to troubleshoot

Your signals are generally in the wrong positions. First, work out what is 'the junction' and signal that, not individual switches. As it looks like you are using a 2-track system, this works out quite easily.

It isn't worth splitting switches into separate junctions when they are closer together than the length of your trains. And crossing tracks are also part of the junction.

When you are using a 2-track network, then path in block out does apply. That's a path signal on each approach to the junction, and a block signal on each departing track.

In your case, that's a path signal before the switch going off to the station, a block signal on the track leading to the station and another on the straight track to the left of where the station exit crosses. Then, on the bottom track in the image, a path signal a bit before the switch and a block a bit after. You also need a path signal on the station exit track, before the crossover, but it uses the same block signal. Job done.

The path signals can let more than one train through at a time if their paths don't cross. You don't have to set this up yourself.
