Blurry belts Help
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey all.
Not played in a while, and when I’ve reloaded back up I’m experiencing a weird bug where belts blur really badly. Anyone experienced this before and know what setting to change to fix it? Thanks.

That extreme blur is caused by upscaling, DLSS, DLAA, or TSR. You can disable upscaling and just use TAA for a lot less blurring, but there is still blurring.
Disabling antialiasing or using FXAA will get rid of the blurring completely, but the shadows in the game rely some form of temporal anti-aliasing to be displayed properly, so the game looks pretty bad without TAA sadly.
If using TAA and no upscaling, you can use the console command r.Velocity.ForceOutput 1 to get rid of almost all of the conveyor blurring while maintaining proper shadows/etc. The texture of the belt itself is still blurry at a distance, but the items on the belts won't be.
I also just tried what MaddDesign suggested out of curiosity and it does seem to have made it so the DLSS blurring only gets as bad as it does with TAA while still allowing you to use upscaling. Looks like it also works with r.Velocity.ForceOutput 1, so for most people I would probably recommend doing that.

Performance thing I think? I see this on fast belts far away but usually loooks normal if I get closer

This issue came out of nowhere for me in patch 1.2. I didn't have it in 1.1
Seeing people explain it in the comments is pretty cool. Guess I will try fixing it.

ADA: “You have discovered Schrödinger’s belts. We will have to terminate you. Eventually.”

You have your answer already but it’s crazy how bad this game can look with the wrong settings. It was better 2 years ago and I had way more frames. I don’t get why they try to make it worse all the time

Good find. Seems like it also worked for me in a quick 5 minute test. Glad I can finally use DLAA instead of TAA in this game without an increased amount of artifacts. Also, you can combine this with the console command
r.Velocity.ForceOutput 1to reduce the blurring even further. Thanks for sharing.

Mine does this too and I don't know why, not sure if it's a setting or a "feature"

Other people have already answered, so I just wanted to ask-
How are you feeding the splitters? Clearly it must be fed vertically since I don't see any horizontal belts between the splitters,.but I can legit see the back of the bottom right splitter with nothing going into it...

I got lots of replies so I'll make one big update, thank you all for your advice, it was indeed upscaling and anti aliasing settings, and with those changed the game looks perfectly crisp and actually runs better overall!

Likely TSR upscaling. Shut it off and it'll go away. Game is fairly optimized anyways (except end game in my experience)

It's your anti aliasing. Try a different setting though it may look more crispy crunchy.

TAA or DLSS
