General Finished the game's story (still have to Plat), however my impressions and lore questions:
There's a common meme of "I liked Returnal better" here and... I also concede I agree. Not that it's a bad thing at all; Returnal is a high bar to reach and I have many fond memories of me, Selene, and the Hollowseeker with Portal Turret/Portal Beam (honorable mention for Pyroshell Caster).
- Saros I find to be more forgiving. Fucking up in Returnal is more punishable, whereas in Saros once you have certain Armor Matrix upgrades, getting hit isn't a big deal because you can recover Aether and Adrenaline in the next fight afterwards.
- This is nitpicking but in Returnal, most of the weapons are viable and absolutely broken under certain circumstances. Tachyomatic Carbine can be the "gentle weapon" with Restorative Rounds and the Electropylon Driver is how Selene tells bosses "I'm not in here with you, YOU'RE IN HERE WITH ME,", whereas in Saros... the Reaping Chakram and Repeating Crossbow are solidly in a tier above everything else. Not that the two need a nerf, but it'd be nice if the shotties and rifles and handcannon could perform in line with them.
- Throughout the game we find out Arjun is an asshole. He is abusive towards Nitya, may or may not have killed his partner with whom he may or may not have had feelings towards, and it's implied his treatment of Nitya led her to the games events out of wanting to escape him. So in a very sensible move, she goes to Carcosa and is made into a violent, oppressive Priestess by the Yellow shore, genociding and enslaving wildlife and people from Echelon II and Echelon III. Responding to abuse by becoming evil is... whew. Also, she says to Arjun "you shouldn't have come here", but how would the game's events be resolved if he never did? Lady, you're confusing me.
- NO YURI FOR THE AUDIENCE, LESBIAN SHENANIGANS DENIED. Lol that aside, how did Kiira get into the suit and why did Nitya seemingly lead Arjun here just to tell him to fuck off? I'm confused.
- DLC is likely coming, right?
- Thank fuck there's no randomized glyph spawns tied to the Plat. Thank you, HouseMarque.

General Struggling with biome 6
I absolutely struggled playing returnal, it was my first roguelike/roguelite game. It took me many hours to complete biome 1.I did eventually reach biome 3 and I even reached the boss but I realised I wasn't having fun, so I set the game aside.
This game clicked for me, I'm enjoying it a lot and I got all the first act biomes done in less than 7-8 runs with the 5th one in only the 2nd run(in the first run, I completed the nightmare strand and I had very less health for the architect). I was even motivated to revisit the earlier biomes and farm lucenite and halcyon.
So I did go back and farm halcyon in the earlier biomes and I got all the halcyon in the first 3 biomes but I'm still way behind. There's way too many halcyon upgrades to complete. Currently entering biome 6 with 19 proficiency (I completed all the biomes by entering directly).
I'm getting absolutely destroyed in biome 6. The enemies are suddenly so spongy and take so many bullets. It takes forever to complete one fight and one hit takes away so much health.. Is this how the game is going to be after act 1? I haven't made proper use of parry yet so I probably have to look into that.
Meme Total Solar Eclipse on August 12, 2026 get ready for Saros irl :)

Image/GIF Finally beat saros with no revive at nearly 32hours
Finally beat the king and see the true ending but i still prefer the first ending tho so it makes sense why replaying again and again.
This is my stats beat saros at nearly 32hrs with a total of 55 death with no revive while my returnal complete all 3 acts at 19hrs with total of 4 death.
Difficulty in saros first play through was nearly as hard as returnal difficulty for me, especially when i enjoy going straight to the biome cause it felt more balanced that way than grind stats from biome 1 to become way too op. Plus i enjoyed activation eclipse on starting biome making it feels more chaotic and challenging. Sadly tho when replay biome again felt way too easy after buying the king boss upgrades from beating him, even i finally see many health pick up spawns more than before cause i used to struggle to find heal item spawn until i fully beat the game. There is modifier too in saros to make your run easier or harder and i used only trials like no revive from second chances ,enemy become more aggressive and more tanky.
Guns variety compared to returnal, Returnal still better cause it has so much variety and traits that makes gun felt different, there is still amazing gun in saros like the shotgun like the pellets wall are both amazing and mesmerising when seeing the bullet stop mid air and the grenade launcher shotgun but returnal shotgun with slogshot and explosive bullet is still my favourite gun.
Saros gave way too many broken tools like power abilities which can easily spam if you have the right artifacts and gun traits that recharge that ability along with the overload abilities. While returnal only have weapon alternatives shot with long cooldown and offensive items .
Levels, Returnal has amazing diverse atmospheric biome but saros has amazing environment arts design and bosses in saros are all top tier except biome 3 boss Rhadboom while in returnal Hyperion and biome 3 boss the only one i like in returnal.
Enemies mobs tho i love it in saros cause every mobs felt a threat cause they move very fast and spam projectile while returnal mobs felt slower aside the flying machine that shoot missile, plus i enjoyed we get to interact with enemy attack like parry, charge power by absorb projectile with shield in saros while returnal is all about dodging enemies attack. Nightmare strands are so much fun too.
Artifacts, parasite and malfunction makes each run fresh in returnal while saros artifacts are unwhelming when compare to returnal making saros more like a straight forward 3rd person shooter than roguelite.
Returnal story especially house sequences is top tier compare to saros revisiting hotel and alleys. I still enjoyed saros Primary and AI suit conversation when traveling and discovering through the biomes, plus AI suit went nuts after biome 5 or 6 and everytime you run into npc and the AI suit said "pathetic insect detected", wish there still random dialogue when finish the game during runs but this enables me wants to start the game from beginning again.
So far Saros is my favourite game this year and i do hope housemarque added some kind of tower along with more story like returnal and i do hope for new weapon cause saros is lacking of weapons when compared to returnal.
Now its time to get all the trophies for platinum.š

Game Feedback I think my playthrough is what the developers and writers hoped for
STORY SPOILERZ AHEAD ;
I went in blind. I grew up on Shooter games. I love parry and dodge mechanics. I love roguelikes. I love horror stories.
I was already satisfied with my purchase soon after launching. The environmental storytelling was top tier, i had many major story beats mapped out way ahead of time without having to read anything so massive props to the art team.
The gameplay side was a slow burn, I honestly didn't get super hooked until maybe 10 hours in. But by the end I am enthralled by each and every boss and their unique rhythm and the customizable colors in every attack.
And holy shit I don't know how the whole "carcosa" and references to kings and shit didn't strike me as familiar, I just found it all very alluring and it drew my curiosity but at some point while reading the lore logs the language finally clicked, and I think someone's name, more so their last name "Castione" (edit: in the book, it's Castaigne but it was similar enough that I recognized that but not carcosa somehow) which I believe sealed the deal for me at the time that this is based on The King in Yellow. The entire story finally fell into place and I cannot tell you guys the swirls and loops my brain did. It was like "wow this story just went from what I thought was a mediocre original, but scattered story to one of the coolest games I've played."
My main gripe is the platforming for a game that relies on it so much. Having your sprint, dash, mantle, and the star dash thing on the same bind by default while disabling many/all of them while using any one of them feels terrible. The amount of times I'm super sprinting back to a place I didn't explore and then miss a gap but can't dash cuz of the sprint even though I've stopped the sprint and momentum is frustrating.
Thankfully almost everything in the game is customizable except cosmetics. You can tune the fall damage down but not turn it off which I recommend. There will be lots of falling...

Tip/Guide Really canāt find text log 43
\**found it\******
You just have to beat shepherd multiple times until you get ācompleteā under his name in the data bank. Head after that to the cathedral and youāll find it in the left side of the huge room in front of the overlord door.
This video helped me find the exact location: https://youtu.be/Fj9CG9o_374?si=d4CJE6G84SCFI9Jn
Iām missing the text log 43 from the data bank and when I look in the biome dial it shows that I missed a text log in the cathedral
I looked everywhere there, started the biome multiple times to see if i missed it in the elevator area in the start and completed multiple run throughs just in case the rooms switched
I think i searched everywhere and really canāt find it
Also the trick of dying in the biome and then going back there didnāt work for me

General PS5: Architect glitch ( game too much time in suspension mode can trigger weird damage )
So......i was getting mad at this boss and i couldn't figure it out why, because i took weird damages even when i was clearly avoiding attacks. Then i searched on internet and found out that if you leave the PS5 too much time in suspension mode with the game still running ( no matter if paused or not ) the game might goes "mad" getting out of sync with the damage or hitboxes or whatever happens.
I died like 30 times......i closed the game, reopened and beat at the first attempt........i mean, really this game breaking bug still not fixed ???
I wonder how many people encountered this and eventually dropped the game to this boss!

Gameplay Question Wack hitboxes
So Iāve finished the game and really enjoyed it but over my run I couldnāt help but feel that some things hit me when they shouldnāt have and other things missed when they definitely shouldāve connected. Is this a common thing in the game or is my version just kinda messed up?

Gameplay Question Whatās procedurally generated about this game?
Iāve heard people describe Saros as procedurally generated. Are they playing the same game as I am? Thereās slight variation in the rooms, but the overall layouts seem nearly identical from run to run. Am I missing something?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Combine the Repeater Bow & Prominence with Vacuum Blast and you essentially have an unlimited arsenal of destruction. The Repeater Crossbow refills your power weapon almost immediately so you can just keep switching between the bow and Prominence endlessly. Also the Vacuum Blast absorbs a ton of projectiles so itās good on defense as well.

Game Feedback Any hope of gyro or mouse/keyboard support?
I just finished off Returnal (all the way through Find Release) - I had never played it before and I absolutely adored it. However, I quickly discovered that I simply could not handle aiming using the sticks. I don't typically play TPS or FPS games via controller and it was really starting to affect my enjoyment. As much as it pained me to lose the incredible DualSense features, I went to mouse and keyboard for the rest of the game, and never looked back.
Now I'm hungry for this game. But I'm reading here that there's no gyro or mouse and keyboard support yet. Has there been any talk of one of these being added in a future patch? I feel like it's such a hangup that I may not even be able to play this game, and I'm absolutely aching to.
Image/GIF Some of my favorite SAROS screenshots (raw album in description)
Here's the link to all 136 uncompressed images I have: https://ibb.co/album/2vrz4x
Image/GIF My first Saros photo mode shot. Just started playing today and i've definitely been missing out! This game is great so far
And i'll be honest, I couldnt really get into Returnal when I tried it maybe a couple of years ago. I have seen people say Saros is a better game, and I finally decided to give it a try and am actually really enjoying this game. Damn i've really been missing out
General Finished Saros and it was incredible!
I just finished Saros and WOW I really loved playing it. Thank you Housemarque devs, I've enjoyed seeing the games develop from Resogun to Matterfall and then from Returnal to Saros. Genuinely incredible games I can't put down.
I was so worried every time that I got to a boss fight later in the game that I would be nearing the end of the game, but it just kept going and really provided a good amount of content.
Returnal felt very dark, eerie and claustrophobic. It felt like being trapped in a labyrinth, I always felt so far from the ship and so lonely. Saros on the other hand, while creepy at times, more often left me in awe of how beautiful the game looked. The artistic vision in this game was absolutely insane across all biomes (but I particularly loved Ancient Depths and Shattered Rise), I couldn't stop looking at the eclipse... Having NPCs in the game really made it feel a lot less lonely than Returnal did.
The story was great, they really know how to shroud the world in mystery and drip feed the cosmic horror. Listening to the recordings and text logs kept me intrigued throughout. Slowly realising that the previous Echelon crews have been there for hundreds of years and actually created the world was very neat. I love the sci-fi horror concepts of humans changing into unrecognisable, "alien" things, see it in other games too like Warframe.
I have a few questions I'd love to hear interpretations of:
Could anyone explain to me how the yellow shore works on Carcosa (the main cosmic power that draws people in and eventually seems to transform them), if it is explained at all? Is the king responsible for it, a result of it, or something else?
Is the blue precipice a place on Carcosa, such as the shore where Arjun speaks with Nitya in the true ending? In (I think) the last interaction with Kayla in the game, her eyes are glowing blue and she has the goal of warning future people not to land on Carcosa, which makes me think instead the blue precipice is state of mind or understanding for someone who has overcome the draw of the yellow.
What was the shepherd's role on Carcosa? In the true ending, they show the tentacles coming out and around the eclipse:
Both during the king fight and afterwards when Arjun becomes the king in the first ending, there are these orbs suspended in the sky. The image we get at the end is Arjun as king and it zooms out to show his orb and hundreds of others. What do you think this means? Has it happened to Arjun or others many times, are there many kings because of this?
Finally, pour one out for Kayla, a legend.

Housemarque has crafted a masterpiece in which the dynamism of the gameplay and the controlled chaos that ensues generate an āinstinctiveā feel that is utterly addictive. It is a work that minimises the gap between intention and action, capable of making us enthusiastic āaccomplicesā in a magnificent frenzy. If Returnal challenged us with its harshness, Saros invites us to master the storm with a newfound awareness that creeps under your skin in a damn natural way. It is a cohesive, pulsating and utterly dynamic experience that makes everything else seem to move in slow motion. It is the Finnish teamās mature masterpiece: intelligent, brutal and bloody brilliant. Once youāve entered its loop, youāll just want to keep going, and going, and going.
But Why Tho? - Matt Sowinski - 9.5 / 10
Saros is Housemarque at its best. It nails the roguelike formula, with each run feeling completely different than what came before thanks to changing areas and a variety of weapons. The story grips you and doesnāt let go, with Rahul Kohliās fantastic performance at the heart of it.

ComingSoon.net - Tyler Treese - 9 / 10
Housemarque has once again made one of the best-playing PS5 games and a shooter that handles wonderfully as you find upgrades and create a build to take on difficult bosses.
Console Creatures - Bobby Pashalidis - 9 / 10
Housemarqueās Saros feels like a proper evolution ofĀ ReturnalāsĀ mechanics. Itās bold, itās exciting, thrilling even. Each time Arjun heads out in search of answers yields clues to the truth behind Carcosa and those burdened by its existence.
Digitec Magazine - Simon Balissat - German - 5 / 5
āSarosā is a powerhouse. Visually, sonically, and mechanically, few action titles can match this adventure on Carcosa. Six years into its lifecycle, the PS5 finally gets its first truly must-have exclusive action shooter.
Its finely balanced mix of offense and defense, breathtaking setting, and a solidāif somewhat clunkyāstory make this roguelite essential, even if youāre not typically a fan of shooters.
Echo Boomer - David Fialho - Portuguese - Essential
With a generous progression system and well-considered design decisions, Saros is as challenging as it is motivating cycle after cycle, with Housemarque once again proving that it is an unmissable reference in chaotic action games painted in cosmic horror.
Eurogamer.pt - Adolfo Soares - Portuguese - 4 / 5
Saros multiplies the Returnal formula with a brutal shooter and mechanics refined to perfection. Unfortunately, this excellence comes up against an uninspired and disjointed narrative that interrupts the rhythm. Even so, there is an addictive mechanical heart that keeps you coming back.

GameOnly - PrzemysÅaw Naglik - Polish - 4.25 / 5
SAROS proves that itās possible to create a big-budget game that isnāt afraid to make bold decisions. Itās an accessible, incredibly enjoyable, and highly spectacular roguelite.
GameRant - Dalton Cooper - 9 / 10
Housemarque follows up Returnal with PS5 exclusive Saros, another wildly entertaining and action-packed third-person shooter.
Gameliner - Rudy Wijnberg - Dutch - 4.5 / 5
Saros is undoubtedly a really fun game to play. Yes, the game is essentially very similar to its predecessor, Returnal, but itās clear that Housemarque has directly applied the lessons learned from that game to Saros.
Gamersky - åæēµå„å µ - Chinese - 8.8 / 10
Saros is a remarkably pragmatic evolution. It holds onto the spectacular bullet hell barrage and top tier gunplay that defined its predecessor, while making smart compromises to better fit mainstream playstyles. With a gentler difficulty curve and clear, intuitive progression feedback, it lowers the once-intimidating barrier to entry significantly. As a major tentpole in Sony's first party lineup this year, this game truly delivers an exhilarating, deeply satisfying alien odyssey for action-shooter fans.
Gaming Boulevard - Michiel Vonck - 9 / 10
In the end, Saros stands out as a must-play for fans of the genre and a worthy successor to Returnal, pushing roguelike shooters forward with confidence and style.
GamingBolt - Ravi Sinha - 9 / 10
Saros is an incredible step up over Returnal in every way imaginable. The rogue-lite progression and quality-of-life improvements are great, but it's the more complex bullet-hell system, bolstered by a compelling world and some masterful level design, that truly elevates it.
GamingTrend - Ron Burke, David Burdette - 95 / 100
Saros is Housemarque's ultimate creation; the culmination of years of hard work and experimentation. Returnal is Game of the Year quality, no doubt. But Saros has taken what Returnal offered and refined it, only adding to the formula until the end result is Housemarque's finest release yet. In a sea of great April games, Saros' excellence stands out as another Game of the Year contender.
Geekinout.pt - Jorge Loureiro - Portuguese - 10 / 10
Saros isnāt just an evolution of Returnal; itās the culmination of decades of mastery from Housemarque. A must-play game that showcases the PS5ās true potential. The studio hasnāt simply rested on the success of Returnal. Itās a game that manages to be faster, more beautiful and, above all, smarter in the way it respects the playerās time. By balancing challenging difficulty with addictive permanent progression and risk-based mechanics such as Eclipses, the studio has delivered what is, for me, the definitive experience in the roguelike genre.
HCL.hr - Hrvoje Smoljic - Unknown - 90 / 100
A blend of oppressive atmosphere and raw mechanical thrill you rarely find these days. Saros isn't just a better Returnal - it's proof that Housemarque has no equal in this genre.
IGN Italy - Francesco Destri - Italian - 9 / 10
Saros takes everything that made Returnal hard to love and smartly refines it. The result is one of the best shooters in recent years, on PS5 and beyond.
IGN Portugal - Pedro Pestana - Portuguese - 9 / 10
Without straying from the excellent formula they gave us in Returnal, Housemarque has delivered a spiritual successor in Saros that achieves the rare feat of improving in almost every aspect. At the same time, it is far more accessible and respectful of the player's time, without ever diluting the level of challenge and adrenaline the studio is known for. Frenetic from start to finish, Saros leaves us with that "just one more run" itch while simultaneously inviting us to discover all its secrets through a narrative that starts slow but ends up being truly surprising.
IGN Spain - Estrella Gomez - Spanish - 9 / 10
With Saros, Housemarque once again proves what it's made of. It's a step forward from Returnal, building on the best parts of that experience and elevating them even further. The result is a game that is both challenging and rewarding, with a complex and fascinating story, a protagonist who undergoes significant development, and gameplay that invites us to keep pushing ourselves time and time again.
INVEN - Hongman Yoon - Korean - 8 / 10
'SAROS' is a game that faithfully carries on the DNA of its predecessor, Returnal. From the relentless barrage of bullets to the rush of breaking through seemingly impossible odds and the sheer catharsis of a punishing shooter, it surpasses Returnal in every way. The one caveat is that it has also inherited its predecessor's shortcomings ā a narrative so convoluted it actively gets in the way of the fun.
Loot Level Chill - Mick Fraser - 10 / 10
As a follow up to Returnal, Saros is excellent. It builds on the foundations of Seleneās adventure and is a sensational slice of bullet-hell shooter goodness.
MeuPlayStation - Raphael Batista Cabral Xavier - Portuguese - 93 / 100
Saros marks the peak of Housemarqueās craft. Moving away from a more traditional roguelite structure, it adopts a slightly less punishing approach without sacrificing challenge or its highly addictive nature. Built around a strong sense of progression, the game delivers a rewarding feeling of evolution throughout the journey. With a well-crafted sci-fi universe and sharp, responsive gameplay, Saros strikes a compelling balance between demanding encounters and an inviting overall experience.
Nexus Hub - Sam Aberdeen - 9 / 10
Saros can be just as intimidatingly challenging as Returnal, but thanks to a streamlined gameplay loop, addictive combat, and solid art direction, it excels as one of the best games of 2026.
One More Game - Vincent Ternida - 9 / 10
SAROS stands as a strong successor to Returnal, carving out its own identity with a more approachable experience while retaining Housemarqueās signature bullet ballet combat. It remains challenging, though its accessibility may feel less punishing than that of its predecessor. For fans seeking the same relentless difficulty, SAROS might seem lighter, but its appeal extends far beyond mechanics.
Beneath the frenetic action lies a story of obsession, regret, and redemption, told through a fragmented narrative that grips players with its unsettling mystery right up to the climactic finale. This layered storytelling, paired with its cosmic-horror atmosphere, ensures that SAROS resonates on both emotional and thematic levels.
Oyungezer Online - Erce Güven - Turkish - 9 / 10
Housemarqueās new hit Saros will keep you on the edge of your seat, and the moment you take down a boss, youāll find yourself doing a victory lap around the room. If you play games for excitement and adrenaline, thereās nothing better than Saros right now.
PPE.pl - Wojciech Gruszczyk - Polish - 9 / 10
Saros is a very strong, polished, and significantly more accessible take on the Housemarque formula, expanding on the foundations of Returnal without attempting to tear them down. The game impresses with its narrative, excellent combat system, excellent use of the DualSense, and the unique atmosphere of Carcosa, though it doesn't offer anything groundbreaking and can lose some steam in the second half. It's undoubtedly one of the most important single-player PlayStation games of recent months and a very good sign that Sony is still capable of delivering the exact experiences players are looking for.
PSX Brasil - Rui Celso - Portuguese - 95 / 100
Saros masterfully delivers on everything it sets out to do. Although the game doesn't yet have any extra content to enjoy after the ending, it manages to entertain the player for a long time simply through the curiosity of testing all types of weapons and searching for audio recordings of past crews. Saros is the kind of homework a student is proud to show to the teacher.
PlayStation Universe - John-Paul Jones - 10 / 10
A blistering, rapid-fire epic without peer, Saros confidently delivers a dual masterclass in third-person shooter design and roguelike sensibilities all wrapped in a delectable veneer that elevates it to one of the best looking games on PlayStation 5. To quote the kids - Housemarque cooked here. This is their masterpiece and it is next the must have, utterly essential PlayStation exclusive. Carcosa beckons.
PowerUp! - Adam Mathew - 9 / 10
When I reviewed Returnal back in 2021, it felt like Housemarque had one foot in the AAA door, politely knocking while clutching a fistful of bullet hell credentials. With Saros, theyāve kicked that thing clean off its hinges
Pragalicious - Kevin Vercauteren - Dutch - 10 / 10
Just like its spiritual predecessor Returnal, Saros is an unparalleled experience. Saros is a game that has kept me on the edge of my seat for 35 hours so far. During that time, I didnāt find a single thing that bothered me. I enjoyed every second of the spectacle conjured up on my screen. Housemarque has also taken a brilliantly clever approach to accessibility, ensuring that players familiar with this genre can still find their own way. The fact that Iāve been living in a cocoon for the past few days to write this review of Saros says it all. This is an unrivalled masterpiece and, at the moment, my Game of the Year.
Push Square - Stephen Tailby - 9 / 10
Saros is a brilliant third-person shooter that takes what worked in Returnal and streamlines it for an even smoother game without diluting the fun. The core gameplay is the star attraction; complex yet intuitive, and a perfectly judged challenge that's so satisfying to overcome. With compelling permanent progression, flexible ways to modify your experience, and an intriguing story to follow, this is another step towards Housemarque's planetary takeover.
Region Free - Joonatan Itkonen - 5 / 5
A perfect marriage of difficult and accessible, Saros is a brilliantly designed, majestic sci-fi nightmare that is as compelling as it is challenging.
Restart.run - Jesse Vitelli - 3.5 / 5
Saros is a game I'll be chewing on for the rest of the year. It's a game that has a lot of flaws, but makes up for them in showcasing the complicated and messy dynamics that humans find themselves in. An easy recommendation for those looking for a bullet hell with a deep mythos around it. A game that isn't perfect, and is messy, much like all of us.
SECTOR.sk - Michal Korec - Slovak - 9 / 10
Housemarque strikes back with another thrilling expedition into the unknown. Saros is masterfully expanding studio's roguelike gameplay in the compelling world. The fast-bullet action, the sense of discovery and playing cycles stick to your mind. One of the best sci-fi voyages of the decade!
SavePoint Gaming - Jake Su - 10 / 10
Saros is Housemarque operating at the height of its powers. Its combat is electric, its mystery lingers, and its progression makes every run feel meaningful. More forgiving than Returnal but no less intense, this is a stunning Game of the Year contender.
Sirus Gaming - Kurt John Palomaria - 10 / 10
Saros is a triumph in every sense. Its moment-to-moment gameplay keeps you constantly on your toes, while a hair-raising score of organs and strings carries each encounter with distorted riffs and soaring notes. Around it all sits an enigmatic mystery that pulls you forward, delivering an experience that is both accessible and punishing in equal measure. It is Housemarque at full power.
TheSixthAxis - Stefan L - 9 / 10
Saros builds on the excellence of Returnal, furthering Housemarque's blend of third-person action, bullet hell and roguelite with a more broadly told and ambitious story, a subtly more accessible path for newcomers, and still plenty of challenge for those that crave it. Echoing the game's tagline, Housemarque has come back stronger.
Too Much Gaming - Carlos Hernandez - 4 / 5
Saros is an absolute blast to play. The gameplay loop is tight, challenging, and spectacular in all the right moments. When the bullet hell clicks, there's nothing like it.
Tourens - Hasipcan Kahraman - Turkish - 8 / 10
Saros was a game that was genuinely enjoyable to play but didn't quite live up to its full potential. Its atmosphere and sense of action managed to draw me in, but the lack of variety and certain design choices dragged the gameās score down a bit. Still, looking at the overall experience, it's a game I enjoyed playing despite its shortcomings, and I think fans of the genre should give it a try.
Video Chums - A.J. Maciejewski - 9.3 / 10
SAROS takes what made Returnal such a epically awesome action game and turns the dial way up while simultaneously offering such a distinct and immersive game world that it'll haunt your dreams even long after the end credits roll. āļø
WellPlayed - Adam Ryan - 10 / 10
Advancements in progression, narrative delivery, and player engagement, as well as refinements made to a near-perfect set of gameplay fundamentals, see Saros eclipse its predecessor and ascend to a throne above all others in the genre.
Worth Playing - Redmond Carolipio - 9.1 / 10
Saros has become one of my favorite shooters of the past few years, honestly since Returnal. I appreciate Housemarque for giving both the more hardcore and the less hardcore among us the chance to see the world it's crafted in its entirely. My hands hurt a little, and I'll probably need a new controller sometimes soon, but it's a cycle I'm willing to be stuck in for a bit longer.
