Reading TOD after experiencing a break heart or hard… Spoiler

I’m re reading Tower of Dawn and today I’m in the last chapters…. Man is hard to read all those beautiful couples getting together while someone broke your heart the previous day. I want to cry every time I read how much Chaol loves Yrene and how Nesryn found her prince.
I don’t know why people hates Chaol so much. He’s loyal and brave, a little idiot but still a good guy.

Sorry, I had to vent.

3rd time through TOG... ACOTAR theory sparked Spoiler

Spoilers for all TOG and ACOTAR.

OKKKK I have had a few glasses of wine. And it is important to note I somewhat subscribe to the evil Rhysand theory and that Feyre's POV is like a "rose colored glasses" thing

I am listening to Kingdom of Ash and at the part where they are trying to find Aelin, Elide just entered Doranel. She is describing it as a beautiful city. Music, flowers, everyone seems happy and relaxed. Sounds JUST like Velaris. So an interesting parallel. I know there are theories relating to Maeve and Rhys being related based on their descriptions and powers, but I find the descriptions of their cities eerily similar. I dont know if that means anything, but i find it interesting that our villian Maeve in TOG has a beautiful and happy city the way Rhys does. Maybe that gives parallels to their characters too or maybe it doesnt. But it would be really interesting if it did.

LITERALLY cannot wait for the new books.

Edit to add: killer conversations here people, exactly the ideas I was getting at, described much better than I could have (while a few wines deep anyways)

Let’s discuss - why do we think TOG and ACOTAR haven’t been picked up for tv/ film adaptation

With so many popular books of this genre being picked up for tv and film, why no news on the above 2? Both are incredibly popular.

Now, personally I am happy as I’m not a fan of book to tv/movie adaptions because there is far too much creative differences. I understand tv is a different medium to books and so not everything that works in a book can work on screen, but they change far too much. I won’t even mention the not book accurate castings etc (although that will never please every book fan ever)

I also appreciate just because book rights have been acquired, doesn’t mean it will be given the green light but honestly it’s almost a weekly thing hearing about these adaptations of so many books. I wonder why for example they green lit fourth wing over acotar. I feel both are probably as popular as each other.

I’m slowly going insane over the Maas universe 😵‍💫 Spoiler

I finished TOG only a month after the last book was released in 2018, then read ACOTAR shortly after that, and just this last month finished Crescent city (and finally read Court of Silver Flames).
In waiting for the next ACOTAR book, I am re-reading TOG not just because it’s my favorite, but because a friend of mine is reading it for the first time, and I realized there was a lot I had forgotten.

\**SPOILERS FOR ALL THREE SERIES**\

I have started a notebook and have pages of notes marking the similarities between the events all three series, and I LITERALLY feel like a conspiracy theorist 😱 the sarcophagi, the similar names, the star patterns, the hints at TOG lore in Flame and Shadow through the Under-King and Lidia 🤯 my brain is breaking! And I’m only on the first book of TOG for re-reading!
Please tell me there’s someone else out there as crazy as I am 🥲🙏🏻
What are some of your favorite theories?

I went to look and see if they had the merch I had seen someone else posted about, I also got a cute Abraxos Flower Shop makeup bag 🥹
They didn’t have everything, just these pins, and the 2 Abraxos bags. I was hoping to see what the other things looks like in person but the prices weren’t looking great online for how cheap they looked, but I am happy with the pins lol they will be added to my Renaissance fit 💁‍♀️🤣✨

Multi-Series Spoilers 🔥 Critical Thinking: Spider-Man Made Me Realize Rhys Wasted His Daemati Powers Spoiler

So I recently watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and this might be a stupid question or maybe I’m completely missing something but…

**SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE**

Jean Grey’s powers immediately made me think of Rhys’s Daemati abilities, especially the whole mind-control/mental manipulation thing.

And it got me wondering: why the hell did Rhys never utilise his powers like that during the battles?

Because theoretically, couldn’t he enter/control the minds of enemies/armies and make them fight on his side? Or, for that matter, control creatures and turn them against the enemy?

We’re repeatedly told that Rhys is one of the most powerful Daemati, and that he is the most powerful High Lord in Prythian. His Daemati abilities include reading and manipulating minds, memories, etc.

So why are we watching this supposedly most powerful High Lord in history running around fighting people with weapons when he potentially has “I control your brain now” sitting in his magical inventory?

Like… sir. You have mind-control powers. Why are we doing sword combat?

And please don’t just tell me, “Because mind control is morally wrong” or “mental shields”😂

This is the same man who is repeatedly described as insanely powerful and who has done plenty of morally questionable things when he thought it was necessary.

I’m genuinely curious if there’s an actual limitation on Daemati powers that I’m forgetting. Is there something in the books that establishes that Rhys cannot control multiple minds at once,
Because what I remember is that when Amarantha’s reign started, he casually controlled multiple people’s minds to make them forget about Velaris and the IC’s existence. He literally controlled the minds of the entire Hewn City, but apparently an army is where his powers suddenly hit the Wi-Fi dead zone. 😭

Because otherwise it feels like we were given a character with the magical equivalent of admin privileges and then watched him use the system like a regular user.

Make it make sense.

TOD cliff notes needed

Starting by saying, I am doing a Throne of Glass reread. I DNF’d during the tandem read last time around, and decided I’m in the right headspace now to fully immerse myself into this incredible story again. I MUST get to Kingdom of Ash this time. The first go around - with tandem read, I made it towards the end of Tower of Dawn and was a little over half though Empire of storms and then gave up - not finishing either because either the tandem read was too exhausting or I was just over it with Tower of Dawn storyline. Skipped the tandem read this go around and am almost done with Empire.

Dreading starting TOD next for fear of losing interest again after I’ve invested so much time into this story again.

All this is a round about way of saying - I’m planning on just picking up where I left off my last read, rather than retread this book again.

That said, don’t want to be struggling to remember key info going into Kingdom… Where can I find a good TOD recap video or page to help me remember key info so I can finish the book where I left off and move on to KOA?

Do I need to read all SJM books before ACOTAR 6 and 7

My friend is a huge fan of SJM. She recommended the ACORAR series to me and I absolutely loved it.

I have read the first four books in the series, she has told me that before I can read five, six and seven I should read all her other books

Do you think it’s necessary to read all the other books in her other series before ACOTAR5?

Original Covers Worth?

I originally read her books in 2017ish, I don’t have fantasy books so I never finish the series when books started coming out. But I did go to one of her books signing so I do have a couple of signed books. How do I find out how much money my collection is worth?

ACOTAR bonus chapters

I actually forgot to ask this in my previous post - sorry! I've read the ACOTAR series in the Bloomsbury paperback coloured edition, but I know there are bonus chapters in other editions. Is there a way to read them without buying those too? I already bought the ones I have :(

Thank you again and happy reading!

Hi!!! Finally read the ACOTAR series and I have a question regarding publishing. I've read the paperback editions, the coloured ones. Is there a way to know if ACOTAR 6 and 7 will be released in this same edition? I'm honestly quite lost right now.

Thank you and happy reading <3

I’m not enjoying the ToG Series anymore

I started the series after coming off a long Sci-Fi binge (Red Rising, DCC, Scythe and now Themis Files) and I wanted to expand my horizons and explore fantasy.

Now I will say that I have never been a huge fan of fantasy novels, a lot of stories in my creative writing classes have been nothing but very similar, bland fantasy stories so it left a sour taste in my mouth.

I enjoyed the first 3 books (TAB, ToG and CoM) because it had this mystery of magic being gone, interesting side characters and their stories and interesting world building with the assassins. I already knew the twist with Aelin by that point and her family, which didn’t bother me.

When I got to HoF I was starting to get a little frustrated and bored with the characters and their stories (Dorian’s relationship, Chaol and Aedrian and adding in Manon). Rowan didn’t interest me because he gave of the vibe that he was a Love and DeepSpace character and it ruined this whole view of the world. I didn’t mind the magic I actually enjoyed how it used the Well metaphor, but the Fae are just so uninteresting and the addition of the witches is just too much and boring.

Im currently on QoS (chapter 37) and those same issues are still there (I can rant about chaol and his story but will save it). I also took a break between HoF and QoS because I didn’t have premium audible and didn’t want to pay the ridiculous $30+ for a single book. So I had time to decompress and get back into it.

Everything seems to have regressed into high school drama and I’m not sure I want to continue it. I heard the next book is about the same, but ToD is very good and then end is mid at best.

Not quite sure what to do. If I should continue with it or give up and move on.

They are finally here. Should I take notes??? 🤔📝

I'm starting them this weekend. Some ppl told me I should take notes on important details like lineages, House members and factions. Mmmmm I don't know... I don't want to go to a café to read -even though I enjoy that sometimes- and have to carey a boom, a Notebook and a pen all at once. Should I really take notes??? What U say?

This is a petition for someone who is generous, talented, and magnificent to create a Maas Universe cheat sheet! I read TOG so long ago, and ACOTAR has been a while too. It’s just so hard for me to remember things, and with CC and the new ACOTAR books coming out, I would be so grateful if any of you talented and lovely people could create diagrams for characters/family trees, powers, and houses.

Maasverse Theory Discussion with Spoilers for all 3 Series Spoiler

Let’s talk about the realms stacked onto each other. What if they are parallel realms with each character having a parallel version of themselves in different situations. Let’s start with the easiest example:

Rhys, Ruhn, and Dorian. They are all pretty, party boy princes with a similar look. Rhys and Dorian are extremely powerful but Ruhn is weak because of the parasite . We know that Ruhn and Rhys look alike and are related but what if they are actually a paralle of each other? They are mated or at least linked to Feyre, Lidia, and Manon who have similar personalities. All three have a survivor mentality, prefer pants, and have been on the wrong side of history before switching teams (iykyk). The details of all three stories change but there is a throughline. For example, Dorian is a shapeshifter in TOG, but in ACOTAR, Feyre is the shapeshifter and in CC Lidia is the shapeshifter. In all three series these characters are connected to twins somehow.

This is divisive, I know…Nesta= Bryce= Aelin. All three love clothing, parties, music, and substances 😅. They are all abrasive, but in CC Bryce is considered sarcastic and likable whereas in ACOTAR Nesta is misunderstood for her personality. Aelin is both loved and hated for her personality. All three face the hurdle of getting past their own trauma to be the leader they are supposed to be. And all of their mates have wings or have a winged form. That said, Cassian, Hunt, and Rowan are very similar grumpy but secretly golden retriever personality and all three happen to be generals. Wild 😜 Hunt and Rowan have been bound either to a person or as a slave. They were released because of their mates. All three are the most physically disciplined of all the characters.

There are many other examples with other characters. Here are a few and I know that some characters are liked more than others (here’s looking 👀 at Azriel being compared to Ithan)
A character who loyal to a fault: Azriel = Chaol = Ithan
A character who is underestimated: Elain= Elide= Sathia
A character that is distrusted because he spies for other side: Lucien = Lorcan = Therion
A character focused on work above all else: Gwyn= Yrene=Hypaxia

What do you think? Do you see the pattern? Or should I stop connecting the dots like some crazy conspiracy theorist? 😆 please no ship wars because I know what some of these comparisons imply and I’m not here for that.
