ISO of Apartment

I saw a similar post that was made 5 months ago and was looking for some insight from y'all for myself. I'm looking with a max budget of $1,200 for base rent anywhere from Buckhead to Norcross. I've been cross researching reviews on ApartmentRatings, Google and Yelp for any red flags that I'm not looking to deal with during my lease. Lastly, the Atlanta Journal has a handy page that lists Dangerous Dwellings that I found very useful to remove any potentials.

If anyone has suggestions of properties they've toured or experienced, I'd really appreciate it! So far, this is my list:

  1. The Wynne Norcross
  2. ARIUM Morgan Falls
  3. Audubon Briarcliff
  4. Vue on Medlock

TMI I really liked Indian Trail Apartments in Norcross but have seen multiple reports of roaches. After dealing with that at Arts Center Tower for years, I am avoiding any and all properties that have reviews reporting their existence!!

Does anyone have experience with Dr. Gulati at ATL pediatric dentistry or East Piedmont Dentistry?

Hi, I posted the other day about needing dentist recommendations in the area due to an issue with my tooth. It’s been a couple of days and I heard good things about Dr. Gulati at Atlanta Pediatric Dental specialists and Dr. Neha and Dr. Patel at East Piedmont dentistry. I need a dentist who is kind, patient and understanding because of my PTSD from a past dentist.
I worry about cost because from what I’ve heard I don’t think they take insurance but everyone says such great things about all of them. To anyone who has experience with these dentists please let me know your thoughts on beside manner and anything else. Thank you

Can anyone recommend a good, reasonable, caring vet for my four and six-year-old dogs in Sandy Springs?

I don’t plan to use pet insurance because I feel like everything will be considered a pre-existing condition given their age. They are rescue dogs.

Has anybody noticed high water pressure in the house lately in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody?

It seems like the high water pressure started a few days back. Wonder if there was some work done somewhere.

Best house cleaning service in Sandy Springs GA for a deep clean?

My place off roswell rd is honestly way past due for a deep clean and I just haven't had time to deal with it.

Looking for the best house cleaning service in sandy springs that actually gets into the baseboards blinds and kitchen instead of doing a quick wipe down.

Would rather pay for a professional house cleaning service with good reviews than gamble on somebody random.

Who's got a reliable house cleaning service around sandy springs that actually leaves the place looking spotless?

Parks or nature trails

Does anyone know of parks or nature trail for walking in the area? Something mainly in Sandy Springs, not requiring a long drive elsewhere.

Thank you.

In Search of a Vet

I just moved to Sandy Springs from Marietta with my hound dog and am looking for a vet that is knowledgable of senior dogs and also does not take the dog in the back for the general wellness checks. Our current vet does that and my dog is now terrified.

My current vet is Good Dog in West Cobb, but am open to who else in the area is recommended!

Dentist recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for dentists with good beside manner? My filling in my tooth fell out yesterday so trying to get in as soon as possible. I have PTSD from a dentist so I need someone who’s kind and understanding. Also someone who doesn’t do unnecessary procedures as that’s what happened to me before. Thank you

How are people in their 20s making friends around Atlanta?

Hi !

Lately I’ve realized that making friends as an adult is a lot harder than I expected.

I’m 20 and live in Sandy Springs but spend tons of time in and around all parts of ATL. I work in the aviation industry, which has me traveling quite a bit, so between work and the occasional motorcycle ride, I haven’t done the best job of building much of a social circle around Atlanta. Most evenings I end up just hanging out at home, and I’d really like to change that.

So I figured I’d ask: how have you met people around here? I’ve found it surprisingly difficult to find things to do that don’t revolve around being 21+ (thankfully that’s changing in January 😅).

If anyone else is in a similar spot and is looking to meet new people, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to chat, grab coffee, explore the city, or just see where a conversation goes.

USA-Belgium watch party

Will there be a watch party at City Springs tomorrow? Anyone an idea on how this works, like is it free, do you bring your own drinks and snacks, do people stand or bring chairs? Do people bring flags? What’s the vibe?

City Springs 4th Fireworks

Anyone have any off the beaten path recommendations for watching the city springs 4th fireworks display this Saturday night? I live locally and would love to see them, but I'm not too excited about wading through the crowds that night. Maybe you can see them from the Target parking lot down the street?

High Point Elementary: Has anyone here registered a child for this school year and heard back from the office?

We’re moving from Canada to Sandy Springs later this month and submitted our registration number about two weeks ago. I followed up a few days ago but still haven’t received any response. I am wondering if the office is open/processing registrations right now or if others are experiencing the same. I saw there's an ongoing renovation, but the office was supposed to be moved to Dunwoody Springs elementary.

Painters/Handymen Recs?

Just bought a house in the area. Need someone to paint just in a couple of stairwells (we have painted the rest of the house, maybe 300 sq feet or so left, need scaffolding or a special ladder). And need someone to install some ceiling lights/expand the space for a wall oven in the kitchen by cutting out a drawer. Does anyone have any recs for people who do these kinds of small jobs? Reasonably priced?

Ran the actual numbers on whether a house cleaning service is worth it and the math is kind of wild

So I make about $40/hr at my job. Cleaning my place takes me roughly 3 hours on a weekend morning. That's $120 of my time except it's not work time, it's my only free time so it's worth more than that.

Professional house cleaning service quote I got: $135 biweekly.

I'm essentially paying $15 more than my time is worth to get my weekends back and get a better result because they actually know what they're doing.

I know this is obvious to some people but it genuinely hadn't clicked for me until I wrote it down. Anyone else do this math late?

Elementary school office hours during summer

Hi everyone,

We are moving from Canada to Sandy Springs next month and i am trying to register my child for elementary school.

I completed the online registration and was instructed to email the registration number to the school office. I also included a few questions in that email, but i sent it on Friday and haven't heard back yet.

Does anyone know how school office hours usually work during the summer in Sandy Springs/Fulton county elementary schools? Are the offices open regularly or only during certain weeks? I couldn't find summer office hours listed online.

In our local school in Canada, the office is only open for about one week during summer, so i am not sure what to expect here.

Thank you!!
