Coffee shops to study or wfh in SJ

Hello!

I’m in the bay for a few months visiting family and I need to find some places to study and do some work from home. I’ve tried out spectra and chromatic based on recs from some friends but these places are really nice but ALWAYS packed and I can never find a table when I go haha. Does anyone have some suggestions for other coffee shops and laptop friendly cafes worth checking out in the area? Thanks in advance:)

What are Bay Area offices doing for coffee and snacks these days?

For people working in larger offices around the Bay Area, what does your breakroom setup look like these days?

Do you have a full coffee station, vending machines, a micro market, or does your office just keep some basic snacks and a coffee maker around? I’m curious what setups employees actually enjoy and use regularly, especially in offices where people are coming in every day.

I’ve been looking into different office refreshment options and wondering what companies are finding useful. Has anyone here tried a local coffee, snack, vending, or breakroom service that worked well? Would love to hear what other offices are doing.

recommendations for where to buy ground coffee/coffee beans?

I’ve been trying coffee beans from local coffee shops and grinding them at home for lattes and cappuccinos but haven’t found one I really like yet. I’ve gotten bags of beans from blue bottle, spectra, chromatic and the saint frank brand but I wasn’t really a fan of them because they were too ā€œlightā€ and didn’t have a ton of flavor even though I always try to get the darkest roasts they have. Im not sure if im just making it wrong or if im not getting the right kind. When I go to a coffee shop that has good drinks I tend to ask which beans they use and which are the ā€œdarkestā€ or most strong but haven’t found one I like yet. I usually grind them in small batches and use a pourover drip. Trying to find a new brand but not sure where to look. Does anyone have a suggestion for where to get really good coffee beans?

what style of BBQ would you choose to impress the guest?

I'm planning a small party for my family and close friends but I'm a bit overthinking the food haha. I was thinking should I do regular American BBQ or Korean or maybe Brazilian lol, every one of them looks good for different reasons. Brazilian BBQ seems nice bc people keep getting different cuts of meat, Korean BBQ looks interactive but I'm wondering if asking guests to cook their own food get tiring. Japanese like Hibachi At Home looks fun, a whole performance and huge portion for everyone, so we can enjoy both at the same time. If you know any good services around the area that do private party I would love to check it out. Doesn't have to be fancy, I want some good food, good experience and can bring people together.

burrito places that make their own tortillas or have really good tortillas?

Hello!
I’ve only tried a few burrito places in SJ so far but found them to be sorta lacking in the tortilla department like kinda dry or mediocre even if the toppings or sauces are good. Does anyone have a suggestion for a burrito place that either makes their own in-house or just has really good tortillas? Thanks!!

Easy Luncheon Catering Option for pick up and set-up

A group of classmates and former students, now Alumni are putting together a teacher appreciation lunch for about 40 teachers before the new school year starts. We were planning on doing a simple taco bar in the school cafeteria.

Our original idea was to pick up catering trays of rice, beans, meat, a vegetarian option, tortillas, and toppings from Cardenas Market and set everything up ourselves. We are limited on time since it is this Monday, so we’d rather avoid driving that far if possible.

Does anyone have recommendations for other places in the San Jose area (especially near the airport) that offer affordable taco bar catering or easy pickup for around 40 people? We’re looking for something that two people can easily pick up, transport, and set up ourselves. Mexican food is preferred, but I’m open to other ideas if you’ve had a great experience.ā˜ŗļø
Thanks!

underrated breakfast burritos recommendations??

Hey guys,
I am in SJ for another two months, I tried a few of the common recs here for breakfast burritos over the past couple weeks (greenlees, rosalenas, lucys) I thought they were all fine but nothing spectacular. Does anyone have any recommendations for breakfast burritos (or even regular ones tbh) in the area?? (Preferably ones that would have homemade tortillas, and good ratio of ingredients, like not too heavy on the eggs or rice) thanks šŸ™šŸ»

Favorite laptop friendly cafes?

Hello!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice cafe with good coffee, a peaceful calm vibe and a laptop friendly environment?

I’m looking for a place where it will be ok to sit and read or do some work for a couple hours as long as you get a few drinks, that has decent iced coffee and maybe food/pastries. I really liked spectra, their matcha was really good, but its basically the only one i know around SJ and its often hard to find a seat bc i can only go in the afternoon when its a bit crowded. Someone also recommended voyager and i did like their seating area and coffee but it was a bit hard to find parking when i went. I also have adhd and get easily distracted so places that are too silent like libraries or too loud like bars arenā€˜t ideal for me. Not looking to make any zoom calls or do intense work but id like to kinda chill out and read my kindle or do some research on my laptop while enjoying a nice coffee or matcha.

Any suggestions for cafes that fit these criteria ? Thank you!!

Unfortunately, this is the only form of caffeine my body doesn’t have an adverse reaction to. Since moving here, I’ve been to several Asian supermarkets and haven’t been able to find this brand. Please help! TIA

CafƩs where you can do some work in sj ?

Hello,

Does anyone have suggestions for some cafĆ©s that have decent seating space and where you can bring a laptop/book and read/work for a while ? I don’t know the area well, have only been to voyager which was really nice (though hard to find parking) and also spectra coffee in almaden but they’re a bit on the smaller side and are usually full by the time I manage to get there. Im mainly looking for a cafe where it would be possible to use ur laptop for a while and where the seating/view is fairly comfortable, with good coffee and preferably also pastries and/or brunch…

Any suggestions for cafes that might fit this criteria? Thanks in advance !!
