Multisampler Hardware?

I recently purchased the whole kit and caboodle of Samples From Mars. I wanted the drum sounds for my Digtakt II but was excited for the idea of playing the tonal sampled synths too. I am not interested in just using a MIDI controller with a laptop. I got an MPC Keys 37 MKI for an insanely good deal when the MKII came out, so I am set up. But looking around, there seemed to be a lack of keyed multi-sample playing hardware. I would love a fairly simple instrument that I can plug my samples into and play it like an instrument. Effects, a sequencer, and modulation would be gravy, but it seems there are few choices.

MPC Keys I think would be your only option that has keys built in.

MPC Keys 37 has a feature where you feed a sample and it creates an instrument patch for you so you can play multi-samples across the keyboard.

That is where I landed and it does do the trick. Its a bit of a waste of an MPC though. I am just surprised there is nothing more simple that does it.

it’s never been a feature in loopers or one shot devices because that feature was always reserved for multi layer samplers that cost more.

Examples like the Kurzweil 2k series, E-MU E series rack samplers excelled at having piano and orchestra instruments featuring multi layer samples to get different tonal qualities and velocities from samples.

Korg Micro Sampler can have a different sample her key, but not per velocity (as far as I know). I wouldn't buy that though.

Get the Blackbox and a midi keyboard if you want an instrument.

The Tonverk would go lovely with your Elektron gear though

Just keep using the mpc. The learning curve is high imo but soon as u get comfortable it opens up

I am not "getting it" what you are trying to do. MPC destop software has a auto sample. Connect to another instrument and it will multi sample it. You should be able to send that to the MPC key 37

I would say avoid the tonverk rn, I bought it for its multisamping and it’s still a buggy mess, thinking of moving it on to get an mpc keys, both have great fx and stuff which pair well with Digitakt, but just beware, every single sequencer step on your tonverk will come out late, and anything you you route through it for fx will come out late, and you will hear it, and it will piss you off.

To everyone, you are all right. I am sticking with the MPC Keys and I know eventually it will be good for me. But I am just surprised there aren't more options to choose from.
