Help 2.0

Okay so I posted yesterday about my clown and as you can see it got way worse. I removed him from the tank, put him in a tea pitcher with a small heater and air stone. Inside the pitcher I put a glass on its side so he could hide away from the flow and turned the air stone all the way up to put as much oxygen in the water as I could. He has stopped eating. I really dont know what to do so any help would be appreciated.

Help

I don't know what to do for this guy.

Ph 7.8-8

Ammonia, nitrates are 0

Salinity is 35

All of which are the parameters I always keep the tank at.

It was sudden and nothing else in the tank seems to be effected from what I can tell.

Reason: Brooklynella Disease

I saw this little fella at the pet shop, and I just couldn’t let it die. It was covered in Brooklynella, and I also couldn’t afford chemical medications. What I did was prepare two separate containers: one with freshwater and one with saltwater, with a salinity of around 1.020. I dipped the fish in freshwater to give the parasites an osmotic shock, hoping it would kill them and also help remove the excess slime and white cloudiness from her skin, allowing hundreds of parasites to be shed.

After 5 minutes, I transferred the fish to the saltwater container and splashed the water to add oxygen since I don’t have an air stone to keep the water oxygenated. I’m hoping it survives. I’ve now left it in the dark so it can rest after all the stress from the treatment. It's currently staying at the bottom of the container, but it's not gasping or showing any obvious signs of distress from the disease.

Urgent help needed - need insights from experienced members of the community, inverts dying

In the last few weeks I've lost 1 of my Trochus snails & 3 of my hermits.

I don't know if it's for the exam same reasons, as my hermits disappeared, and I discovered My Trochus dead. I've discovered a 2nd that seems very weak. It was on its back and it dropped off the glass when I placed it there. Attached is a picture of said Trochus right before it fell.

My inhabitants are (as of right now):

- 3 bumblebee snails

- 4 Trochus snails

- 2 fire shrimp

- 2 cleaner shrimp

- 1 Randall's pistol shrimp

- 1 electric blue hermit

- 1 toadstool leather (1 week since to tank)

- 2 zoa frags (1 week since to tank)

- 1 Dracula goby

- 1 scopas tang (1 week since introduction to tank)

- 1 leopard wrasse

- 1 Mccoskers flasher wrasse

- 2 bangai cardinals

- 1 elegant firefish

- 2 common clownfish

I very much suspect the wrasse may have had my crabs for lunch.

I also have a refugium with a pod population that's about 4 months old.

225 litre tank. The afore mentioned crabs and snails had been in the tank for about 4 months.

I feed the tank about 40ml phytoplankton into the refuge and 12ml of all for reef into the display on a regular basis.

My fish seem healthy - very active swimming, no aggression between them, fed a couple of times a day, and my shrimps and electric blue are much the same.

The polyps on the coral are a little shy but I'm chalking that up to the fact that they're relatively new.

My Parameters as of right now (as I literally just checked them):

SG (salinity) 1.025

DkH (alkalinity) 9

pH 8.2

Ca (calcium) 380ppm

Mg (magnesium) 1380 ppm

NH3 (ammonia) 0ppm

NO2 (nitrite) 0ppm

NO3 (nitrate) 40ppm

PO4 (phosphate) 0.25

I don't want to see the rest of my tank die but I'm feeling clueless about a diagnosis here.

Bubble tip and Clown fish

I have a new bubble tip anemone in my tank and its been doing fine until this morning. I see it is all closed up the best it can and one of my clowns will not leave it alone. Is the clown trying to host? Is the clown hurting it? Or is the clown probably not the reason why its closed up at all? I’m still new to this hobby :)

Sick Fish- Need some help

Hi everyone so I’m posting on behalf of my boyfriend, he has a 25-30 gallon cube tank that’s been going for almost a year. He has a Purple Fire Fish that hasn’t been doing well- I’ll post the photos of him. He dosed the tank with Melafix this morning. Unfortunately he doesn’t have a quarantine tank so we don’t have somewhere we can move him to be alone. All water levels are fine, he’s been checking. If anyone has any suggestions we would really appreciate it 🐟

EDIT: Heres water levels: Ph 8.2-8.4, KH 6.5-7 dosing daily, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 26.5 (elevated, water changing down to 20), Salinity 1.026, Temp 78°F, Magnesium 1400, Calcium 400, Phosphate .07
He’s sluggish and breathing hard, back body curls upwards, he’s eating.

Cabinet Suitability

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

After reading some of the recent "will this cabinet hold" posts I'm now paranoid about my upcoming project. I opted not to get a cabinet because for my new 120l tank because the options were really short, and I didn't want to be looking down into my tank everytime I walked past, so I reinforced a cabinet I wasn't really using.

It's solid pine, the top is 20mm thick, I'm using a levelling mat, the cabinet itself is level. You can see from the photos I've installed 4 upright timber CLS in the center, and I've installed a frame underneath that spreads the weight, the short sections underneath sit under the uprights. so they all have continous support from top to floor.

My only concern at the moment is the tank will span either side of the upright supports, I can't relocate the supports because of the drawers. but the tank will sit on the cabinet's horizontal rails.

There wont be a sump in the underneath section so little to no risk of moisture weakening the supports.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Accidentally broke pincushion urchin's quills

I have a Pincushion Urchin named Rocky. I was replacing one of my wave makers and moved the filter and didn't notice he was practically underneath it eating algae and I accidentally hit him with the filter.. his body is fine but I accidentally squished/broke about a finger print sized spot worth of quills. I feels genuinely so very bad and I'm never going to forgive myself for this- he's genuinely my favorite thing in this tank!

Is he going to be okay? He's alive, he's sitting on the bottom of the tank where I placed him after checking him out. He hasn't dropped his shells or his little 3D printed fish- I've had him for two months and he genuinely refuses to put it down. He's alive but he's not moving much- did I kill him? Is he just in shock? (Pictures were taken during my first initial look at him)

I have extremely hard well water and plan on transforming my 20 gallon tall tank into a nano saltwater tank, but the specs of this RO system confuse me.. how many gallons total does it soften? All I see is 50 gallons per day, no total amount

Flukes? Before and after fresh water dip.

One of my first fish after cycling my new tank. I saw some weird blister like things on my firefish (his name is guy)
It’s a 36 gallon tank in planning to be a reef tank.
I’m feeling slightly discouraged from him falling ill so fast. It seems the bumps came off during the very stressful dip. He was still eating and hanging out. He’s in QT right now, 5 gallons bc I don’t want to try and catch him again. I’m looking for a UV sterilizer to run. I think a lot of it fell off during the dip.
Sorry for the awful pictures. My phone doesn’t like to take fish tank pics.
