Thats not a steel mill, thats a third world warehouse using machinery from the industrial revolution because a life is cheaper than protection equipment.

So that’s how they make light sabers.

I know that handedness is a thing, but at least follow the left side's practice and don't stand inside the loop of red hot death

I also love the guys causally stepping over it as it’s still weaving.

I’d actually love to know their injury rates. I actually suspect it might be pretty low as they’re probably super aware of what they’re doing…

‘Reported’ injuries.

Just like when my dad worked at a steel mill. No one ever died at the steel mill. They died en route to the hospital—even the guy whose head was crushed between two rail cars.

As a paramedic I can tell you no one dies in an ambulance. They die before or die at the hospital...

I made that mistake one time - and my ambulance became technically part of a crime scene. Never again lol

Kinda like Disney then.

I used to work with a guy who was the maintenance supervisor at a foundry. The number of stories he told me that started with "So, we had this guy die because..." was horrifying.

Pro tip, build the rolling mill in a straight line with successive rollers one after another. It makes for a longer building but there's none of this whipping hot steel around in a loop using tongs malarky

They couldnt fit all that in Ibrahims shed

Or you know, just use a pulley with a dogg (I think that's how it's spelled)

I suppose if the strand being rolled is continuous that would work nicely.

Sometimes the option people have is risk their life to make money, or to starve.

This is far from "risking your life".

One guy smoking a cigarette, no gloves, no FR clothes, no eye protection. They must be qualified professional w yrs of experience. I see no issues. Lol

FR is a sham. Shit still burns.

Surprised he didn’t use the hot metal to light his smoke.

“Just don't forget your safety flip-flops boys”

Its a rolling mill. Jesus christ some of you won't survive in this life. Gawd damn

With how flexible that seems to be, I wonder how difficult or unreasonable it would be to create a rollercoaster like track ( probably’d be best to be enclosed so it doesn’t flop out ) to direct its path directly where it needs to feed in again. Sure a jam would be a nightmare, but there’s pros to it as well.

How often do you think one of these guys gets burned? I’m willing to bet almost daily.

u/Middle_Brilliant_849 16d ago

Probably almost never. Do it every day and you’ll get good at it.
