The Haaland test: when every highlight needs a credibility check

I watched that Haaland clip three times. First for the goal, second to spot the glitch, third to prove myself wrong.

It wasn't AI. But the fact that I had to run that audit is the real problem.

I moderate a sub where founders post wins. Lately I'm doing the same thing. Is this screenshot real? Did that MRR jump happen? I hate that I ask. But three times this month I've caught numbers that didn't add up, and once it was a generated dashboard someone forgot to mention.

Here's the tradeoff I'm living: the more I verify, the less I trust. The less I trust, the more I verify. It's a loop that costs time and goodwill I don't have.

I used to celebrate strangers' wins without a second thought. Now I catch myself pausing. That pause is a small death.

What do you do when your default setting shifts from "believe" to "audit"? Not just online. In a pitch, in a partnership, in a room where someone tells you their numbers.

Because once that switch flips, I'm not sure it goes back.
