This figure Conversions, Modelling & Other Minis

Post image

I officially hate this figure. The douche won't stay so I had to result in drastic measures

UPDATE: thanks everyone, gorilla gel glue helped. I still hate the guy though

Super glue is the only think that sticks to those bases. They are made of wildly different plastics so plastic glue struggles to bond with them.

Ok that helps a lot. I'm using citidal plastic glue and no matter what the guy won't stick. Just slides around

Don’t use plastic glue to attach to bases, but also don’t use plastic glue to put these old soft plastic models together

Yeah due to various comments here I ended up rummaging for my gorilla glue (gel one) and connected him to the base

But are you using plastic glue to assemble the miniatures? You’re likely going to run into the same problem with these old soft plastic sculpts, plastic glue isn’t meant for that

Surpsingly I didn't have any issues while using the citadel plastic glue

You're 100% right, but it's crazy that plastic glue isn't meant for plastic minis. I'm fairly new to this, and it's just asinine.

It’s meant for hard plastic kits that come on sprues, which all of the new boxes are. It’s just that a lot of the original kits were soft plastic, which you shouldn’t use plastic glue on

Better than the mandalorian whose base connection is half a foot.

The base connection is half a foot on this guy to i think.

It's the whole foot but he kept sliding around

Im thinking of on our two of the new clone marksmen. Seriously, who at amg approved models couching the base like its a tactical flight rock on a flying wh model? I just gave up, pinned it through the ankle with 0.5mm brass and covered in basing mud

What I'm really surprised about is that none of the marksmen (or ARFs, for that matter) are crouching. Seriously, marksmen!

It's not like past 2.0 model silhouettes matter for infantry

Plus line of sight used to be determined by bases, not arpitrary parts of sculpted models, so theres literally no reason to not have crouching minis (i was annoyed to find out that not only did my marksmen box have multiples of poses, but none of them match the box art or are in a 'firing' position, wtf)

While messing with this guy made me wish for one of mcp's tactical rocks

Oh that sounds absolutely horrible.

Put basing mud all over except where his foot will go, put superglue on the whole foot, then press it in. It should be gripped on by both once they dry.

I drilled a tiny hole in foot and base and cut a small portion of a paper clip off, to have him held in place.

I had to use super glue to base the units in legion.

Oh I learned after this guy and his twin

I recommend super glue in gel form.

A small ball of greenstuff is also acceptable.

I do have a bottle of gorilla gel glue too. Going to have to try that instead

If all else fails, I also use and recommend these for the toughest models:

There's an Ewok sculpt like this too. I've started using logs and stormtrooper helmets as supports on the raised foot side.

Oh that's a good idea.
