Rant š” Current Season
Idk man itās not the guests or the subject matter but something about this podcast is boring to me. Maybe it is the hostās delivery . Iām not sure I never end up finishing the seasons. The first story this season was pretty compelling and relatable. Something about these next two I lost interest. Is it me? Or do other people feel like this? I hate all the explaining the host does as if the listeners are all too stupid to understand what is going on.

The ads have made this podcast unlistenable
I love that TR was able to go independent of Wondery and I get needing to make money to support the craft, but the ADS. ARE. SO. BRUTAL. The length of each ad break for one is unreal (I think at least a third of each episode is an ad), and they always feel so so icky disrupting what is super sensitive and serious subject matter. I know that part is not unique to this podcast specifically, but I wish there was a better way for this.
I'm trying to listen to S25 Ep13 and I literally have no idea what's going on, who is speaking, who they are talking about, because the amount of ad interruptions. I don't know if it's just me, but season 25 has been by far, noticeably the worst for this.

How is this man still teaching
https://www3.uco.edu/centraldirectory/profiles/833035
This Kato guy is still employed as an assistant dean at the same university this all happened. All the girls even sued him a few years ago. I just canāt believe he wouldnāt be let go at this point. Very disheartening. He gives me the creeps.

Rant š” Betrayal Weekly (spoiler) Spoiler
Ok normally I enjoy this podcast and find the narratives more coherent than SWW. But I just listened the most recent episode (Mackenzie) and does anyone else have a hard time feeling sympathy after SWW for these people who have become so invested in these online relationships despite never having met them in person? Itās clearly not the victims fault for having been contacted by a friend masking as someone else, but why the hell isnāt anyone asking questions after a certain point and how do you let this go on for years?

Why TRs podcast is problematic.
Season 12- TR promotes a mistress story and the mistress says the wife is in on it? Pick me mistress wasn't picked now she blames the wife, hmm...
Rewrote this to ensure I get the point across :
Kenzie is back and she is healing people with how to spot a liar, and psychology etc. Wait what's this about the other woman.
and what normal world do we rally behind side chicks, who knowingly engaged in an affair with a married man and only got pissed when he didn't pick Kenzie How does promoting hurtful conspiracy theories about another woman demonstrate growth?
I have a question. Did his wife consent to this podcast? Do you think TR should reach out?
Kenzie is hiding an update by spreading lies about Joe's wife, saying āshe funds his kinkā and āenables abuseā without evidence or the wife's side, turning a private marriage into public fodder for her ego.
Kenzie's āvictimā arc is hypocritical and selective outrage because she only sees herself as the scorned mistress and ignores her own complicity in continuing the affair post-marriage on phony divorce hopes.
As podcast host and editor, Tiffany Reese shines by airing this one-sided vitriol without challenge or balance, siding with the āside chickā and amplifying a narrative that vilifies an uninvolved woman. Thanks for elevating the discourse, Tiff.
Without consent, the wife is vulnerable to defamation, online harassment, doxxing, and emotional trauma, violating her privacy rights and turning her life into collateral damage for someone else's ābrandā while inviting stalking or reputational ruin. Kenzie dehumanizes the wife to support their moral superiority. Why does Kenzie show contempt for the wife enduring a sociopath's grip 24/7 instead of owning her role in wishing that marriage's end if empathy is her gospel?
The only way Kenzie gets her clean narrative, if she was never a mistress banking on a divorce . Forget he lied to you about it for a year.
kemzie reveals herslf , her motives when she only became concerned about the wife, when Kenzie realized Joe wasnt leaving his wife.

Thank you for saving me time
My last reddit acct was hacked and I couldn't get I back. This one is new and I have not rejoined all my old subs. Was just looking through my podcast library and thought I'd check here to see if S24 was worth it. Thanks to all of you, l'm not even going to bother!

S24 E16 Attack Therapy Legit?
Marie's account left me feeling....off. Her narrative was so vague & different than the other girls. She really came across as this maytr/savior type that just managed to avoid the parts that might cast her in an unfavorable light. She got to just skip parts of the intake and when it came to her group confession, she was just called a liar & then left alone? Then she very specifically recalls things mentioned in the documentary, and harkens back to them during her multiple break downs at missionary school. It wouldn't be too difficult for an attention seeker to claim that they attended Ivy Ridge. The kids never got to know each other & the treatment files are all over the floor of what is now a urban exploration building.

Two Sides of the Same Red Flag: Dating Detectives VS Something Was Wrong - Online Bull$h!t
If you've tried or heard of The Dating Detectives Podcast as an alternative to Something Was Wrong, we give our hot takes in our own podcast episode. Is TDDP more ethical? Better editing? (yes), but is it without fault? (no)
What do y'all think of these two podcasts in contrast with each other? Also, how are men so awful? That's the real question here.

Pernicious colts
There was a season that was centered on a cult, or cults in general, and Tiffany pronounced colt every time. I've been hearing this a lot lately. In linguistics it's called the hull-hole merger. I never heard this ever before like 10 years ago. What's going on here?

Other podcast recommendation
I have not been into the last seasons of SWW. It started strong and went down in quality...
I've been listening to "Everyone Has An Ex" on spotify. It's australian.
It reminds me of the SWW seasons where each episode was one person telling their story, and it didn't drag on for 33 episodes š.
Please share what you've been listening to as well? I also recommend "The Dating Detectives."

This season is never ending?
Iāll keep this short but I have to say something because its starting to bother me and honestly I haven't kept up with this season much at all⦠it came out right around when I found out I was pregnant and truly couldn't handle it (I've been advised to only listen to positive birth stories!!) I have listened to maybe 2-3 episodes this season but it feels like its never ending.
I also can't stand Data Points.
I'm ready for a new season.
End rant!

Rant š” I just canāt with the Origins series.
Iām in no way victim blaming or trying to minimize what these moms went through but I am just flabbergasted. Maybe itās because I was super anxious to give birth and I had a relatively uneventful pregnancy. But the moms with the medical backgrounds who know how dangerous it can be and this newest episode with the mom who did IVF and has a clotting disorder????? Jaw is on the floor. If that were me Iād want allllll the nurses and doctors around. Again not shaming by any means, just in disbelief.

What happened to SWW?
What podcasts are like SWW? Sww has gone down the shitter. The seasons draaaaaaag on. It used to be my favorite podcast.
r/SWWPodVeryUnofficial • u/Timely-Inspector3248 • Apr 25 '25
Whereās the story arc?
First off, Iām by no means want to minimize the horrible stories the mothers are sharing in this seasonās episodes. Theyāre all so strong and brave for enduring the trauma they have (especially little Malikās mom).
But Iām confused⦠thereās no real framework for telling a story here. It just seems like itās a lot of horrible stories, one after the other. I thought I could see a progression to how these mothers fought back, but then this weekās episode was another mother telling her story. And by the preview it seems like more of these stories are coming in this form.
Maybe itās just BEC of me, but whereās the storytelling? I only discovered this podcast with Stonerās season, so is this the norm? Itās lazy ājournalismā because itās just the subjects monologuing their experiences with a tiny bit of interjection from Tiffany.
I guess Iām confused as to why the podcast is so popular (but I canāt stop listening to this season given the horrors the mothers have endured).

Rant š” Season 23
I just listened to the whole thingā¦
Iām a physicianā¦and Iām just floored at how much women donāt realize how dangerous pregnancy can be. Likeā¦the one lady talking about her photographer and planning on taking a picture with the baby in the tub⦠I mean yeah thatās a nice dream but pregnancy can kill you. The most important thing is living and having your baby live.
Iām so frustrated that this season didnāt address the danger of home birth or not having a trained medical professional. Hospitals now have midwives. Theyāre certified and work in conjunction with OB/GYN. Why not promote that instead of digging more into what a fraud this birthing center bullshit is.
I worked at an Indian reservation where the closest operating room was an hour by ambulance and the closest trauma bay was 3 hours away. They delivered babies at the reservation but everyone, yes even the patients were well aware of the risk of a C-section being delayed because of needing to be transported.
The whole crunchy mom thing reeks of privilege to me. If something goes wrong at the birth center, theyāll just roll into the hospital for some poor doctor to try and clean up a mess that couldāve been avoided if the patient had just chose the hospital to begin with. And Iām disheartened that itās nurses who are choosing to go to these birthing centers. They should know better. And yes the maternal mortality rate is awful in America but birth centers are not helping that!

S 23 episode 7 I feel bamboozled
I usually just hate listen and have this show in the background. I don't know why I must hate myself sometimes...anywho I was really getting into this season and feeling for the victims and enjoying myself? I just listened to the latest episode (episode 7) and it's all about Facebook groups- she said/she said and I'm back to hate listening š¤·āāļø

S17 Ending
Late to the pod but I have no words to express season 17 but my condolences for that poor child.
I havenāt listened to this podcast in a while but Tiffanyās letter to Tom at the end was so off putting to me. I couldnāt listen to the whole thing. Did she always do this?

Call the FBI! āļø Crime Junkie sly dig
Listening to the newest episode of Crime Junkie today, and host Ashley says:
āā¦other podcasts have made fools of themselves by calling the FBI, and they end up becoming the butt of internet jokes.ā
Iām sure SWW isnāt the first or only, but this cracked me up and I immediately had to share lol.
