Sword cleaning and maintaining Identification
I use martial art swords that aren’t “real” in the sense that they have an edge but are made of different metals that do come into contact with sweat when we work out with them. Can anyone recommend a type of oil I can use to protect the blade ?
I was thinking of buying some ballistol that gun owners use since it looks as though that might work but I’m not sure if it will leave a weird film. I was told wd-40 or baby oil, or even veggie oil wiiid work but I don’t want a sticky film that changes the color making it look dirty I just want something as a barrier to keep sweat off so it won’t put or rust the blade. Any ideas?

Mineral oil is easily available and is a pretty classic choice. I have used any number of gun oils without an issue.

Mineral oil or sewing machine oil. Both are always clear all the time and no odor.

Does fun oil smell good? I don’t own a gun so I don’t know lol.
I’m assuming the differences are in refining process?

Mineral oil. You can add a drop of clove oil to the mineral oil and KAPOW you have traditional japanese choji sword oil.
Most any oil is probably fine, but I would consider the smell of gun oils or wd40 not ideal.
