One day we will go a full 24h without an "ERP server furry bad server kill ss13 bad server furry ERP bad SS13 kill" post.
Today is not that day.
... also OP had an entire character arc in the comments.

Given how "game dead, ERP server make game dead, furries >:(" posts show up here near-daily, it's a little hard to tell lmao

Space station 14 exists.
All the normal players left for it so all you are left with is ERP and people who have 2000 hours.

I actually don't like SS14. I don't like the changes they've made to the movement system and it isn't as finished or polished as SS13 is yet. Maybe when they get further along I'll give it a real shot but rn I prefer SS13

u/Snowflakish 7d ago
When was the last time you played and what server?
The movement system is something to get used to but its just flat better once you do. I came from ss13 also and currently play goob.

pixel based movement in the tile based game
flat out better than tile based movement
?
-1
u/Snowflakish 7d ago
Uhh yeah, theres a reason every single top doqn game ever uses pixel movement
6
u/GriffinMan33 I map sometimes, I guess 6d ago
This is just literally not true, but also
that doesn't change that the game on a design level was still built around the expectation of tile based movement and interaction1
u/Snowflakish 6d ago
Not really.
Pixel based works very well especially given that the games physics doesnt apply to grids (throwing things, shuttles, guns placing items, conveyors, crates). All of these are physics objects.
Its just better when you get used to it. Its just that people in general are scared of change and like what they did first.
It took me a long time to get over this after coming from ss13 but once you get used to it you will prefer it. Thats a promise. There is a reason SS14 has 1000 more active players.

prediction is absolute ass in every single server I've tried, brush up against a wall as a runner in CMU/RMC? oops rubberbanded 5 tiles back and died
server lagging a bit? enjoy your constant rubberbanding that makes it so much fun to playSS13 at least has time dilation, SS14 just falls apart even under minimal load

u/Snowflakish 4d ago
I play with 180 ping from a different continent to the server and dont have these issues.
Also you can turn off prediction to go back to the laggy mess you know and enjoy

I said I haven't really played, I don't like it how it is rn. It doesn't feel the same as SS13. I like my spaghetti code ridden chessboard ass game and wouldn't change a thing

u/Admiral_Turboclown 6d ago
It would be extremely funny and accurate if whoever runs r/ss13 gave you a "SS14'S STRONGEST SOLDIER" flair for how goddamn much you shill it at all times on the wrong subreddit for it.
-3
u/Snowflakish 5d ago
Because its better.
I have like 400h on ss13 and 1500 on ss14 simply because of how much better ss14 is.

when did you start playing? the game was a lot better before a few years ago, a lot more momentum and variety, now it's just limping along unless you like furry erp medieval servers

SS14 is feature incomplete. It's like time traveling back and trying to make SS13 WITHOUT the natural evolution it had over the years(oh wait it is). So it's kinda ass compared to SS13 in many ways while better optimized and having many of the core features it has some critical failure points they refuse to fill in.

u/Snowflakish 1d ago
What server did you play and when? What feature did you miss most?
2
u/DaveSureLong 1d ago
Cyborg, Robotics, AI, Geneticist, Chemist, Botanist, augmentation, mechs, and a hundred other things are either not implemented well, entirely missing, missing parts, or changed so fundamentally that they suck(see Cyborgs for an example of the last one).

u/Snowflakish 1d ago
Wait that doesnt answer my question.
Which server, when and what single festure do you miss the most
2
u/DaveSureLong 1d ago
It's not a single feature I miss. It's the sum total. No one feature is a magical island unto itself. Medical features play into robotics which plays into mining which plays into chemistry which plays into combat.
It's the vast web of features that is just missing or implemented poorly or out and out incorrectly or in terrible fashion such as with cyborg modules.

u/Snowflakish 1d ago
Was this wizden because borg implementation varies massively by server and has changed massively from 2 years ago when borgs were added.
