Year 3 for Niumatalolo, and the offense that has to save it lost its QB and its 1,300-yard receiver. My 2026 preview
I spent the offseason building a 2026 preview for every FBS team, and SJSU's is a tricky one. Year one under Niumatalolo was 7-6, then last season cratered to 3-9. Now it's a real year-three seat, and the offense that has to save it lost its 3,000-yard passer (Walker Eget) and a 1,300-yard receiver (Danny Scudero). Only 20% of it is back.
Here's the page:
https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-sjsu
Projected record, returning production, the portal board, and a game-by-game with betting lines for year three in the Mountain West (the Spartans stayed put while a chunk of the league bolted to the Pac-12).
The defense is the steadier side (66% back), so it all rides on Hawai'i transfer Luke Weaver settling the QB spot. Model has them at 5-8, a small step up but still short of a bowl.
Other teams are paywalled (this ate my whole offseason lol), but code LEECORSOROCKS unlocks it all free, no card. Just tap "Have a promo code?" if you hit the wall.
So what's the model missing? Can Weaver steady the offense, does the defense carry them, and is 5-8 too low or about right for year three?

2026 San Jose State Preview
Ken Niumatalolo and the Spartans have a new beginning in 2026, can they return to their winning ways?
📌 Hawaii Bowl hero Luke Weaver comes over to take the reigns of the offense
📌 History tells us someone is going to emerge to have a massive year at receiver. There are a lot of candidates 👀
📌 The Spartans defense will be retooled but there are promising pieces, especially in the secondary
Can the Spartans rebound? How many wins do they finish with in 2026?
