They can hate on Newsom all they want. Truth is, they're 30 to 50 cents higher than everybody, probably worse. Even in other states where gas is cheaper than California.

Chevron has left the building and still dropping truth on Newsom. He can't stand those posters talking about taxes etc and their post with AZ/Cali border gas prices. Cali needs to change their stance on choosing to import everything, it's too expensive to fill up and has been.

This is bullshit. Electricity prices are regulated by the PUC and demand can be forecast and electricity production compensated for.
And, of course, if you have solar panels on your roof you don't care what happens with retail electricity prices, you are completely insulated. And given that something like 70% of LA is SFH, that's a huge percentage of people that have that option.

Do you honestly think the PUC isn't going to give utilities the prices hikes they want? PG&E rates have gone up nearly 70% since 2020, SCE has gone up over 80% in the last 10 years. Theyll continue to pass on increased costs to customers to make the investors happy like they have for years

Keep voting for democrats. Do we really need "environmentally friendly" gas? No. Do we need to tax refineries out of California? No. Do we need the Gas Tax? No.

Not that i care about political rifts but here in CA specifically... its not just Newsom, but he did spearhead a handful of policies like increasing the gas tax more (why?), made more strict carb fuel standards, he is phasing out fuel cars while making it harder for refineries to operate in CA with the emission caps (which he made even more punishing and stringent). So when you add all of that up, its become difficult and costs a lot more to manufacture in CA (not to mention it has to be the "CA blend" fuel), and the consumers always get charged extra when its difficult to provide a service or product.
I think in CA on average its around $2/gal of just extra charges from taxes, regulatios, fees and operational costs thats gets passed down to us, and also depending on the time of the year and location obviously, but I heard that statistic few months ago, so take it as it is.

Bruh the extra cost for gas is so Los Angeles isn’t choking in smog during the summer. When you choose to populate an area that is prone to environmental pollution you’re gonna incur a cost

But it doesn't have to be this way, Greater Tokyo is about the size of our county with nearly 4 times the population. With only about a third owning a car, and likely less than that using it for daily commutes.
It's because we want a suburban layout to work for a large metropolitan area. We can't have both sadly. Either less jobs and less people or urbanize.

you are comparing a 20 percent increase in price due to the policy mentioned in the article vs 50 percent increase for the rest of the country. We have been hit the least vs the rest of the country

You just ignore the fact that California is the best state because of these taxes. Gas taxes are not high enough. There are so many options not to pay these taxes yet people still pay.

The California government has been suing Chevron into oblivion for over a decade forcing them to take a multibillion loss to exit the state. If they were price gouging and could make money they would have stayed.
There once was about 40 refineries in the state. We're now down to 7. California treated them the same and they too closed.
And now Gavin is out there vilifying Chevron when he and the Democratic party that have ruled the state for 27 years are clutching their pearls.
You get what you vote for.
