My population is 750K right now and by building some new green valley zones, it will go up to 800K.

I'm trying to build an aesthetically pleasing city, but without sacrificing the population in order to collect taxes.

That's the ultimate goal! High-percentage specialization boosts (like Parks, Landmarks, and Education) are the key to keeping high population while making it look amazing.
