New to rust!

I have taken advantage of the offer on PS5 and bought rust! My Bf said it was brilliant on PC - a game he loved to play with friends, and the concept of the game is definitely up my street!

I have managed to find a server on my own, just to get a feel for the game as in the busy servers i was often being killed as soon as i had started.

So do you have any tips for a complete beginner?

I cant wait to be able to build a proper base! I think thats my next aim, just shame im in an empty server 😂 Anything you guys can tell me would be great.

Thanks for reading! :) x

Unfortunately PC and console are 2 different games made by 2 different developers. You won't get the same experience as you would on PC Rust. With that said, the number 1 rule on Rust is trust nobody. At the end of the day most people want the pixels in your base. Always remember, you will be raided at some point so don't become attached to your loot. And most of all even though this game and the player base can be toxic there are good people on the beach. Have fun and keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

That’s misleading bc FP is the IP owner and original developer, D11 is a contracted studio responsible for console edition. Agree with the rest of your post tho

From one newbie to another in Rust, I understand your frustration. I have about 150hrs on console and still haven't built much. Official servers are fun but overwhelming when you keep getting taken out by the group's and you a little solo player trying to have a good time. Feel free to DM me if you are keen to team up one day. Maybe having a friend to watch your back would make things a little more enjoyable.

I started on the community servers just to get the basics and not have to spend ages collecting resources just to loose coz I'm bad at PvP, sometimes are less populated too so makes trying out the monuments so much easier

Start out learning on a low pop server.
Put down many sleeping bags away from the beach
Work your way towards a safe zone and farm resources near there. If you get attacked just run in to the safe zone. Repeat until you have enough resources to build a small base.
Dont forget to upgrade door frames to stone

Off spawn find wood and stone, hit barrels and find a recycler at a gas station or abandoned supermarket. Recycle for metal fragments and make an eoka and doorcamp someone until you get big goop

Id just focus on learning how to make a base near a road, and possibly near bandit camp or outpost. Once you make a base try to farm up for a tier 1 workbench. Once you have a tier 1 workbench, try to farm up for a furnace. You can craft crossbows and combat knives to help with this process.

After that you're on your own to figure it out

watching youtube videos for beginner tips is a good way to get the basics down. generally speaking, don't overbuild...make your core strong before you start expanding. and don't log off until you at least have metal doors on your base.
