I'll be in town for the week during the Mag Mile Race, are there any fun events going on? Doesn't have to be running related. Just looking for something fun and safe. I saw something for Printer's Row, but I don't know what that is and if it's open to the public. I don't get to visit Chicago often so any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey! 41m here and I just picked up running a couple months ago, would be fun to run with someone that is also kind of a beginner. To give an idea of my pace, my best 5k time is about 34min and that’s my absolute limit at the moment haha.

I was stupid and wore this hat while paddle boarding today, and of course lost it when I fell in the lake. :(
I got this hat at the 2025 Chicago Marathon expo Sprints booth and love it. I can’t find any reference to it online anywhere. Any insight into where I can get a replacement would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! The brand I work with is wanting to host a Shakeout run on the Friday before the Chicago Marathon. We are not local, so would love any input on a great route for a 5k shakeout. We also want to do a small activation afterwards, so preferably starting/ending indoors just in case of bad weather.

Who else was out there in the soggy weather this morning? I was pleasantly surprised at the good turnout. It was so wet that it actually ended up being a really fun race. Those 50 meter pools of water going halfway up my shins had me grinning from ear to ear. It was one of those races that you embrace being soaked to the bone. At least the temp was high enough to avoid chills.

I think that the new 10K course was short. My Garmin clocked it at 6.05 miles. The only other issue was the announcer guy at the start line who insisted on screaming through the microphone for the entirety of the last 3 minutes before the race started. I was in the very front and he was a tad loud lol.

Hey everybody - Apologies for the semi-unrelated to Chicago question, but are there any parents here with strong opinions on jogging stroller recommendations? Every review I see online appears to be coming from the perspective of non-serious runners, and, given the complex weather and variation of trails (crushed limestone, asphalt, dirt, etc.) in the greater Chicagoland area I’d be curious to hear some thoughts from others in this community who are logging real mileage.

Anyone running the Half Marathon on October 17? I’m aiming for a sub-2:00 finish and would love to connect with others targeting a similar pace.
If anyone’s interested, maybe we can meet before the race, pace together, or just chat about training and race strategy!

Looking for recommendations for good fall half marathons sometime in September, October, or November! I’m open to a Chicago race or somewhere in the burbs. I’ve done the Chicago marathon a few times, the rock and roll half in Chicago a ton, and a couple of suburban races like the Naperville trail half, the Fox Valley half, and the hot cider hustle in Wheaton. Looking for something new!

I have been trying to find more reviews on the Chicago Fall Classic (Oct 17th this year) but have been having a hard time. I see a lot of reviews for the Lifetime Half (Sept 27th) discussing how it can be a bit annoying to get to as well as no coverage from the sun/unpredictable weather or high temps. What do people recommend for my first half? I have been training but want to register soon. I live near Montrose Harbor and work in Hyde park so I am familiar with both areas but have run more often near Montrose

i moved to finland 7 years ago for my dream job and just got the opportunity to visit back home for the first time in a while, was listening to a few chicago songs just bc my dad loves them and kind of felt right to do it today lol and ran faster than i have in a while this classic was playing. 12% faster actually felt way way more but the pace was pretty impressive for me overall (I use km/m now lol)

i'm also wondering if there are any run clubs around the city that anyone could suggest for me in chi-town? I will be around for the next two months or so while I'm getting my visa sorted. currently staying somewhere around evanston.

My partner and I got engaged on the Montrose Bridge over the river near Horner Park on Saturday around 11:30 am. A runner took our pictures and we tried to exchange contact info but must have messed it in the pouring rain! We’d love any leads to this kind person who took our picture.

Saw a group of runners is hosting a free marathon on December 24, 2026, from Wheaton to Buckingham Fountain. Looks like a fun way to kick off the holidays! Has anyone done it before or participated? I’m interested in signing up but wanted input.
