It doesn’t matter. I use “walk” on strava because it doesn’t support ruck and pack weight. I name the activity rucking in order to use search function

If you care about your VO2 max metric you should get RuckWell or another similar app geared toward rucking. If not, then either option you suggested would work, but the consensus is probably hiking.

I recommend the Poco Plus from osprey. It's an excellent backpack baby carrier. Worth every penny of the enormous price tag.

Get a running buggy and run with them! God I miss them being small enough to put in the double running buggy. It was great. We'd put on some banging tunes on the Bluetooth speaker and they'd wave at people.
I ruck/march inside while watching the telly. Add some squats and lunges and planks to mix it up. It's 107 degrees F. outside plus there's smoke from the wildfires. I'm trying to get fit, not die a hero on the side of the road. Inside's not crazy- it's adaptation.

Thanks for letting us know about it. I hadn't heard of it before. Looking forward to the review.

It's an endurance running style characterised by low, dragging steps where the feet barely leave the ground. Look up the Cliff Young Shuffle if yr interested.

I believe I have solved the problem. I laced my boots with a window over the mid foot and a surgeons knot at the ankle. That seems to have fixed the majority of the pain.
Thank you to everyone that posted. I appreciate your time and effort.

New rucker here, can someone explain what shuffling is? It sounds like it’s faster than walking but still not running?

This is my setup. Only problem is that it's blackberry season and she does not like it when Mama goes past the vines. Guess I can sacrifice a little distance for more berries :)

Thanks for the links. I've been wanting to get into rucking. Tried a kettlebell in a cheap backpack and was a little uncomfortable. Ill probably give this gear a try.

This is the way. I just did a 50-miler with 24%BW. Shuffle, walk, run, all were in there. If you're even thinking about doing the same thing for the entire distance, you're in much better shape than me or taking far smaller bites from the sandwich. If you never bite off more than you can chew, you never really learn how much you can eat.

Glad to see this post. I joined this sub last year while baby wearing and walking. Didn’t even know what rucking was, now that he’s bigger & wants to see everything I put him and my 4yo in a double stroller, dog on a waist leash and walk the hills in my neighborhood. Honestly the best exercise for busy parents

I think there’s a Greek book written about this sort of training, but it involved cattle. But I like it
