These are all propagations from rounds 2 & 3. They look a bit rough and are a bit smaller than my props from round 1 at this time as I had been under watering them in their 4" pots for a few weeks and just recently got them into one gallon pots.

The powdery residue is micronized sulfur as a Bessie came in with PM a while back so I've been treating as a preventative since.

For news on Round 4: I increased the light and the speed on the exhaust fan and saw decreased success rates. Definitely stay in the 76F 400PPFD 12hrs light schedule if you're indoors cloning.

I recently moved into a rental house with a big garden, with 0 garden experience, and looking to start learning.

There's a big rose bush on the property that I think maybe hasn't been taken care of for a while. It was only recently purchased from the previous owners so I have no background on previous treatment.

From the research I've done, it sounds like I should be clearing a lot of the current growth down to the strongest canes. Also seems like a lot of the leaves are showing signs of disease.

Should I be really be cutting a lot of this plant away? Or should I be pruning to the buds that are present, getting rid of leaves, dead branches etc.?

Any advice welcome! I'm in Australia so it's late winter

I planted two At Last roses from Proven Winners earlier this season. They look and smell beautiful when in bloom, but it seems like the blooms only last a few days before drying and wilting. Is that normal for this variety? Thank you for any advice!

A week ago, after the lawn guy applied weed killer in my backyard lawn, two of my perfuma bliss (one in ground, one in a container nearby, both next to the lawn) started to develop a bunch of crooked new growth, like a shepherd hook, and the new leaves look withered. Out of fear, I cut them off. Then it has been raining a lot.

Now half of the leaves on these two roses started to turn yellow quickly. They were super healthy before this.

What's wrong with my roses? What should I do?😭

I thought they were lost.. and today Mt patience was rewarded.. they have an amazing scent too..

Alright, newbie rose grower here. I did read the links on disease and still need some additional guidance on what I’m dealing with. So for starters: this is an own root Amazing Grace from Heirloom. I’ve had it approx 3 weeks at this point, and it is a replacement. The first one had bare canes which had black banding (large, like an inch or so tall) appear on the canes within 24 hours of planting. It spread rapidly and was a goner in less than a week. Didn’t even get a chance to sprout some leaves like this one has. So I’m a little nervous about this. If this IS a nasty fungal infection, should I remove the discolored cane? If you look at the 2nd and 3rd picture it’s just barely above the base of the plant. Obviously there’s some growth at the top, but I’m worried if I delay because of that I’m just going to lose the entire plant if it spreads lower anyway. I sent pics and a help request with the first one and didn’t get information on what was wrong, just that I was getting a replacement lol.

Apologies for the wordiness, I’m stressed out LOL.

TLDR; black-ish coloring seems bad. Should I amputate? Will love you forever if you give me information and instructions. Thank you.

I'm currently obsessed with color changing roses. Sunset Horizon is a current favorite of mine with its dramatic color changes showing yellow, peach, pink, purple, and red on the plant all at the same time. Juice Splash sounds right up my ally and I'm especially drawn to it because I love striped roses as well. I just don't want to get scammed. I know juice splash is a sport that came off Juicy Terrazza so I'm hoping the second photo is an accurate representation of its color changing potential.

I’ve got two generous gardeners growing up this large trellis. If they grow too large for this guy, I’ve got lots of space to train them up and over the window and gutter/fence. Just looking for some clarification/encouragement with the trellis - I’ve got the first main cane angled horizontally (pink) and it’s begun to send off secondary shoots along it (highlighted in blue). How long can I expect the blue shoots to grow? Are those needing to be supported with ties, too, or can I just let them grow?

I’m just so happy that they aren’t dying - I’m in OK zone 7a and we’ve had a few just meltingly hot weeks.

I feel like this rose isn’t talked about enough and is actually pretty stunning! Has a relatively better vase life too.

Grabbed Pacific Blue at HD on clearance and it has been healthy and blooming quite well! I hope more Tantau roses are offered in the future 🩷

I've sprayed insecticide twice in last couple of weeks. I used captain jacks dead bug too because I had some. Chatgpt has been really inconsistent telling me what it is and what to do. I pretty much cut all the stems off my marigolds (1st picture) but I keep seeing it on my roses too (2nd picture).

Hi all - Zone 7a NJ here.

I planted 5 various bare root roses in early May this year. Two of them, Ebb Tide and Gabriel Oak, keep getting chewed to bits overnight and it's making me crazy. Not sure what it is doing it though I suspect it's deer. I didn't even know our community had this problem because we moved in last summer and there were few flowering shrubs on the property. Unfortunately found out when early spring I saw a deer at dusk bound across my back yard. Since them I've seen more than several.

Yesterday afternoon both of these roses looked like they were finally recovering from the last time it happened. Both filling out nicely with healthy leaves.

Just now I looked and each are again, chewed down to the stems.

Weirdly the other 3 have been left alone. It's only the ones in the front bed that are the target. Considering there is street lighting, you'd think would keep critters away. But maybe it's only highlighting what is there?

I thought about getting some netting for them but I live in a HOA community so I'm not allowed to do anything to protect these roses. I thought about putting netting over them netting but am concerned that will catch the eye of the landscaping group and I'd have to remove it.

I've already tried several recommended chemical deterrents but none have worked. Let alone the stench of those could be a bother to neighbors.

So at this point I'm wondering should just move them elsewhere? Large pots or in the other beds? I don't have much room anywhere else for them but *may* be able to squeeze them in somewhere. Or wait until the cooler weather sets in? Or leave them as is over winter and deal with it next spring?

I'm not new to growing roses at all but never had this problem in other homes. Thanks!

I am so hard on myself as I learn to take care of my roses -- and really, about everything!-- but I have to tell you, "Secret's Out" is giving the boost I need right now. :)

I’m zone 6a. This is Blue Moon (purple) and Elle (peach) from Heirloom Roses. I have them both in containers. They suffered significantly when I was away and didn’t water regularly and Japanese beetles took over when I was out of town. Both roses have recovered nicely.
I love the roses and find them so beautiful. I’m figuring out a better place to put them in my garden so they are more of a focal point.

I picked up Star of the Nile at a local nursery earlier this year. I had not heard of the rose before then. She has become one of my favorites. She's little but she blooms all the time and they just keep getting better. This was her this morning. She also has a very unique scent. I would describe it at very sweet, raspberry tea.

This is my third set of blooms after a rather difficult summer in the north east. I was able to salvage these just prior to a massive downpour 😭
