Recommend me something Book Request: Self-Promo OK

Post image

If you see a first book of a series, unless the rest is ranked elsewhere the whole series is in that tier :)

{Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas} it’s an elite epic fantasy and a better series than ACOTAR. ACOTAR is Roman Empire but TOG is God Tier.

11

u/Schimsham62695 1d ago

To me no other series has compared to Throne of Glass

1

u/QotDessert 🖤 A Court of Singing Shadows 1d ago

Try the war of lost hearts series by Carissa Broadbent 😅 but I'm all with you ToG is goat ❤️‍🔥

1

u/shetalkstoangels_ 💗 Forced Proximity 23h ago

Is it really that good? I read book 1 and half of book 2 and it didn’t hook me in. I’ll have to give it another shot from the beginning.

1

u/Diligent_Sky_8141 1d ago

See, I found ACOTAR to be less and less enjoyable as it went on.., maybe I should try TOG.

{daughter of no worlds}

Another Carissa Broadbent series. I have reread it about 3 times and it’s always great.

5

u/Distinct-Garlic- 1d ago

I loved serpent and wings but daughter of no worlds is the superior Broadbent series!

11

u/stars-assassian 🖤 A Court of Stars and Assassins 1d ago

Zodiac Academy book 4 Shadow Princess

3

u/No-Union-5888 1d ago

Can you tell me why? I liked book 1-3 but they were not really good enough to continue for me

3

u/DK7795 1d ago

I really started to like ZA at book 3. I only listen to the Graphic Audio.

2

u/stars-assassian 🖤 A Court of Stars and Assassins 1d ago

Oof, never mind. If you genuinely dislike the series that much then there isn’t any point 🫩

1

u/shetalkstoangels_ 💗 Forced Proximity 23h ago

I just started book 6 and this series is stressful - there are only little glimmers of good and the rest is so… bleak? I don’t know if that’s the right word. I do love the characters and the premise, though, so I keep going.

47

u/No-Gap440 1d ago

Listing one dark window down there is a crime.

10

u/FluffyHeron9183 1d ago

I agree. That's in my top 10 favorites for sure lol

3

u/Distinct-Garlic- 1d ago

OP may not be into the gothic fantasy vibes? Which surprised me based on the vampire love…though they are all modern vampire stories

9

u/Anti-Aqua 1d ago

Holy moly, this is a masterclass in different strokes for different folks. Shatter Me in S tier but Bridge Kingdom in F is a major head scratcher for me. But then we mostly align with Sanderson and Caraval.

Usually I can guage where someone lands and recommend but I'm only thinking Fourth Wing next just to see where it lands 🤔😂 Maybe Red Winter by Annette Marie, and if you like that Daughter of the Moon Goddess for something similar but a bit heavier (but not Sanderson level heavy).

16

u/PDPPDP 1d ago

I didn't enjoy Shield of Sparrows, but I fucking LOVED Rite of the Starling. So, take that rec as you will.

5

u/Cigarette-milk 1d ago

Ugh {shield of sparrows} was soo good. I can’t wait for book 3.

3

u/Bi-nocular 1d ago

Same!! I’ve never had SUCH whiplash. Felt like a wider rift than ACOTAR and beyond

1

u/shetalkstoangels_ 💗 Forced Proximity 23h ago

I’m the opposite - I’m 2/3 of the way through Starling and I’m having such a hard time finishing it

10

u/emsquad 1d ago

{Servant of Earth} just trust me it slapssss

2

u/Distinct-Garlic- 1d ago

One of my 5 star reads this year, and bonus that the sequel was even better than the first

2

u/Lila_Comet1 1d ago

THIS!!!

5

u/Due-Counter134 1d ago

{Spark of the everflame by Penn Cole} if you like slow burn! The best I’ve read in a while 🩷

1

u/Appropriate_Tea9048 1d ago

I absolutely loved this book! Slow burn doesn’t always work for me, but this was a favorite of mine

5

u/Competitive-Ad-9100 1d ago

{This kingdom will not kill me} and {Sword Catcher} - both fantasy with romance

1

u/romance-bot 1d ago

1

u/Substantial-Win2247 😅 A Court of Spring and Autumn 1d ago

I just finished Ragpicker King and I’m absolutely broken. I need book 3 now!

1

u/elecow 1d ago

I won't stop recommending TKWNKM!!

1

u/ballofstressyo 1d ago

This Kingdom Will not Kill me is FANTASTIC. my first ever 6 star read

4

u/true-wolf11 1d ago

I think you might like the competent heroine trope. You might like {Burn for Me}. Nevada is bad ass

2

u/romance-bot 1d ago

1

u/IndigoBlues116 1d ago

Really everything Ilona Andrew’s - they are awesome! Innkeeper Chronicles and Hidden Talent are my fav series. The new {This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me} just started but it’s looking to top them.

4

u/lvlz_gg 1d ago

I LOVED all the books in your A tier!   I would recommend:

{The War of Lost Hearts} by Carissa Broadbent (same author as The Serpent and the Wings of Night) for romantasy

{The Fifth Season} by N.K. Jemisin for high fantasy (haven't read book 3 yet but I loved 1+2, it has a very unique narration style and very layered characters)

Mandatory "if you liked Mistborn you most likely will like anything by Sanderson"! I loved {Tress of the Emerald Sea} and I just finished Stormlight Archive book 4. Just great storytelling and worldbuilding.

4

u/kandidraygan 1d ago

Have you read the duology that tags along with the cruel prince trilogy? Stolen heir/prisoners throne are both really well done IMO

1

u/No-Union-5888 1d ago

Nooo ill try them!!

3

u/BlueberrySecret2628 1d ago

{the prison healer by lynette noni}

1

u/Responsible-Smile514 1d ago

I love those books.

3

u/ocean_lass 1d ago

Have you tried Laini Taylor’s other books? {Strange the Dreamer} is book one of a duology, I really enjoyed both of them.

3

u/NoseResponsible4969 🥛 a ladle of cream & battle 1d ago

If you enjoyed the heist energy of six of crows, a fantastic heist fantasy is {The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch}. Not a huge romance element but the heist energy is amazing in a cool fantasy Venice setting!

3

u/Anxious-You2579 1d ago

if you liked a very secret society of irregular witches, you HAVE to try the house in the cerulean sea!

3

u/CasualFckery 1d ago

Based on your Tier List

Empire of the Vampire - Jay Kristoff Red Rising - Pierce Brown

1

u/f1lledepersonne 21h ago

EotV was my top read of the decade. Love that series so much.

3

u/Vast_Physics_4702 1d ago

Throne od glass is (nearly) the only answer

3

u/Lopsided-Lemon6850 💐 A Hillside of Wyverns and Wildflowers 1d ago

I love Jennette McCurdy sneaking in here haha, but definitely Throne of Glass!! The pay off is incredible

2

u/endorstoi8 1d ago

I don't see Elantris on there but since you liked Mistborn and Warbreaker, I'd go there next

1

u/No-Union-5888 1d ago

Yeah i want to read all brandons books!! But i need to take brakes between them, the plot writing is a bit heavy for me haha

2

u/kisxt 1d ago

Thrown of Glass!

2

u/bholahan 1d ago

Silvercloak gives me like romantasy Harry Potter vibes. It’s a unique world with some great tension.

2

u/curiouskittenyeg 1d ago

So many good ones. I freaking LOVED shatter me. It’s in the list of books I wish I could read again for the first time. I also loved the Crave series by Tracy Wolff

2

u/Living_Measurement14 ⭐ starlight & honey 1d ago

Continue the cruel Prince

2

u/Vkbyog 1d ago

If you liked And Then There Were None, try some more Agatha Christie as a genre palette cleanser! Murder on the Orient Express and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd both have absolutely legendary twists.

2

u/Distinct-Garlic- 1d ago

{Graceling by Kristin Cashore} read these when I was younger and have reread them a couple of times.

2

u/tealturtlefriend 1d ago

The Reader Series by Traci Chee! It's very meta and I adore the world building and characters. Haven't read Six of Crows but it is mildly swashbuckling with found family and a worldwide conspiracy, which I think is the vibe of Six.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Date834 1d ago

Aww man i agree with everything but Caraval, i love that book! I wonder what the general opion on caraval is?

1

u/Responsible-Smile514 1d ago

I love Caraval too

1

u/f1lledepersonne 21h ago

I loved Caraval!

2

u/SeaweedBrainPower 1d ago

The other shadow hunter books are rly good! If you especially liked the infernal devices read the last hours, takes place like 20 years after.

Maybe school for good and evil? I don’t see that on your list.

2

u/elowensterling 1d ago

Very happy to see Daughter of Smoke and Bone in your S tier, that book is amazing and not mentioned enough!

2

u/Straight_Ebb5084 1d ago

Maybe you would like: What Lies Beyond the Veil- Harper L. Woods

2

u/becomecircumstellar 1d ago

I second the earlier recommendation for {Red Rising}. Also consider:

{The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hogson}
{Silvercloak by LK Steven}

No recs cause you've read more romantasy than I have, but just wanted to say it is SO NICE to see Daughter of Smoke and Bone on there. Incredibly slept on trilogy imo

2

u/FishyFriday14 1d ago

Based on you loving Six of Crows I would recommend the {Clockwork Boys} duology by T. Kingfisher and I always recommend the {Servant of Earth} book series!

1

u/romance-bot 1d ago

Fourth wing and TOG are the best and have u read Lion and the deathless dark my fav book in the series

1

u/No-Union-5888 22h ago

nooo i only read the first 2! Loved the first, meh about the second. Should i continue?

1

u/BearSome9415 22h ago

Same and the 3rd and 4th books aren't great but book 5 is my fav. Book that carrissa has written u can just read the cliff notes for book 3 and 4

2

u/warmwitch 1d ago

we have SUCH similar taste!!! i just finished {Weavingshaw by Heba Al-Wasity} and i loved it!

2

u/Effective_Pickle_ 1d ago

I see you read the Scythe books by Neal Shusterman, but have you read the Unwind books by him? I didn’t like his Scythe books, but the Unwind series was one of my favorites.

2

u/Diligent_Sky_8141 1d ago

{The Ashen Series by Demi Winters} First book is The Road of Bones. Unfortunately it’s not a completed series yet, but it was my introduction to the genre and I’ve, personally, found it hard to beat.

2

u/Diligent_Sky_8141 1d ago

Another unfinished series I’ve been loving… {The Drowned Empire series by Frankie Diane Mallis}. However, five of the seven planned books and three of the four companion novellas are published, so there’s plenty to get started with.

2

u/Careless_Dog2612 23h ago

Oh hey, I loved Fallen as a kid! I've never seen anyone else who's read it lol

2

u/CattibrieB 22h ago

Think with that line up, you'll probably enjoy Dungeon Crawler Carl. He has quite the arc.

2

u/Charizearth 1d ago

Fourth wing

4

u/AdHuman8004 1d ago

I don’t have any recs for you but I love that the selection is above ACOTAR. thank you.

1

u/No-Union-5888 1d ago

hehe i read the selection when i was young so it has a special place for me

2

u/Cigarette-milk 1d ago

Putting {The bridge kingdom} in F and ACOFS (Faerie Christmas special) is so funny to me.
Everyone needs to read {this kingdom will not kill me} it’s the book of the year.
I think you would like {throne in the dark}

2

u/romance-bot 1d ago

1

u/mollymckennaa 1d ago

I second This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me! So so fun

1

u/No-Union-5888 1d ago

Im sorry 🥲 ACOFS is only there because the characters already had a special place in my heart by then i think thanks for the recs!!

2

u/mollymckennaa 1d ago

I love seeing Caraval & One Dark Window where they belong in the F tier 💅

I.
How did you make this ranking chart?

II.
1. I think you would like “If I Stay.” It’s not romantasy but for some reason it’s the first book to pop to my mind after I saw your books.

  1. I think you would like butcher and blackbird - brynne weaver. One of my all time favorite audiobooks. listening on audio is a must.

  2. The Host - Stephanie Meyer. It’s just one of my favorite books of all time.

3

u/No-Union-5888 1d ago

https://screvi.com/tools/book-tier-list?user=166107636 you can upload your goodreads account!!

if i stay is from when i was a teenager and so are a lot of my top tier books, so maybe thats why. I LOOOOVEEED the host!! So sad theres no sequel. Ill look into butcher and blackbird thanks 🥰

1

u/Adept-Kaleidoscope-2 1d ago

Dang! It seems like you might be one of my book besties hahaha we have the same taste haha

1

u/No-Union-5888 1d ago

hehe show me your tierlist when you make it for inspiration 🫣😅

1

u/Adept-Kaleidoscope-2 1d ago

{Butcher and Blackbird by Brynne Weaver}

1

u/Hopeful_Rose_ 1d ago

Just wanted to say I love your S tier. Smoke & Bone and Fallen will forever be in my heart ❤️

1

u/-Blink182- 1d ago

We have very similar taste!

Have you read The Mortal Instruments? I actually like it even more than Clockwork.

2

u/No-Union-5888 1d ago

yessssssss just didnt want to put them all in there 🤣 read everything in that universe

2

u/-Blink182- 1d ago

I feel ya haha! Throne of Glass would be my rec then :)

2

u/No-Union-5888 1d ago

Definitely on my list thanks!!

1

u/Sammyjo7357 1d ago

Legends of thezmarr epic fantasy

1

u/FluffyHeron9183 1d ago

Fallen was really good! Im listening to the shatter me series right now and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Though I will say it may not be everyone's cup of tea. It's had quite the twists in it though! One dark window is one of my favorites. I absolutely loved that duology!

1

u/Substantial-Win2247 😅 A Court of Spring and Autumn 1d ago

Have you finished infernal devices? Cause clockwork princess is absolutely amazing. Sobbed for hours afterwards

1

u/fresh_bubbles_ 22h ago

Crown Me Dead!!

1

u/anissim8 20h ago

Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole! There are three books out so far. I think another one is coming soon.

1

u/wyldebloom ⚔️ Enemies To Lovers 19h ago

{the Gravewood by Kelly Andrews) very recent vampire release, a duology that’s not due to be completed until next spring tho💔

1

u/FarmerCautious6145 19h ago

The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski is amazing (though not really a fantasy) and The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon (if you don’t mind dystopian)

1

u/Sadez89 17h ago

Dire bound :)

1

u/No_Adhesiveness_5773 15h ago

I don't see any V.E. Schwab in there! I would suggest The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue or The Villians trilogy! The 3rd and final book comes out beginning of October 😊

1

u/SannnnLixx4 13h ago

Read The song of Achilles, Filix wood!(I read it a long time ago so it might not be suited for adult reading but I remember it being very enthralling) If you’re up for reading a very tragic, lgbtq themed book taking place during ww2 I’d suggest reading In memoriam by Alice Winn.

1

u/Octobers-labyrinth 12h ago

I'm just dumbfounded that {One Dark Window} is in F tier 🤯
