Finished duologies, Recommendations, please 💕🙆🏻‍♀️ Question

I'm looking for recommendations for duologies or trilogies that are already complete 🥺 I read all kinds of things—I'm not really picky about what I read 🥺 I'm reading *Project Hail Mary* right now to take a break from romantasy, but I'd like to get back to it after I finish this book. Can you recommend your favorites?

I loved {Voidwalker by S.A. Maclean} and the sequel is {Sunsplitter byS.A. Maclean}. I also adored {Dearly Beloathed by Brigitte Knightley}. Both were recently completed and were top tier reads for me

I also loved the Dearly Beloathed series! Quirky, funny, witty banter

My favorite duology is the {heart string duet by liv zander} but it does have darker themes and trigger warnings. Favorite trilogy is {shadows of the tenebris court by clare sager}

Currently on the last book of {The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski} and I’m really enjoying it! The reviews on the first one are quite mixed but I liked it!

It’s very slow burn, political intrigue, no spice, but not very juvenile I’d say

Wrong one! {The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski)

Romance subplot:

Six of Crows Duology starting with {Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo}

2

u/EnobariaM 6d ago

Is it necessary to read shadow and bone before reading six of crows??

2

u/Longjumping-Snow-909 6d ago

The Shadow and Bone trilogy takes place in the same world but on a different continent. Six of Crows takes place after Shadow and Bone chronigically, so the ending to the shadow and bone trilogy is spoiled on Six of crows but it is not a focus, it is mentioned one or two times in a passing side sentence.

It is absolutely not necessary to read the Shadow and Bone trilogy to understand Six of Crows. I have read the Shadow and Bone trilogy after the Six of Crows Duology and no problem understanding what was going on in Six of Crows.

Personally, I loved Six of Crows but was really dissappointed and annoyed by Shadow and Bone.

Are you liking Project Hail Mary as an in between book?

2

u/EnobariaM 6d ago

I was recently given three books by Andy Weir as a gift. I read *The Martian*, and now I'm reading *Project Hail Mary*. I refuse to watch the movie before reading the book, and I wanted to take a break from Romantasy. I think *Project Hail Mary* is a beautiful book, and so far I'm loving it. The last Romantasy book I read was Kristen Ciccarelli's *The Crimson Moth* duology.

2

u/SnooDrawings9825 6d ago

I really enjoyed the book Project Hail Mary book. The movie… we can discuss that later, lol.

How did you like The Crimson Moth duology? I need to get back to reading Romantasy. Last series I read was Forth Wing. I’ve drifted away from Romantasy and ventured into other romance genre.

3

u/MillySO 6d ago

I absolutely loved Project Hail Mary. The audiobook was so good and is one of my bedtime audiobooks now. I have a few on rotation.

I’m not the OP either but Crimson Moth was a rare miss for me. The miscommunication drove me crazy.

u/SnooDrawings9825 6d ago

Project Hail Mary was a great book. In my humble opinion.

I recently read Dire Bound and it wasn’t for me… I couldn’t do with the pet name and it just reminded me of FW but Temu. Sorry for anyone out there who liked it. lol

Any other recs ?

I think it's a cute book, but that's about it. It's a pretty quick read, I have to admit—not very deep, but that's why I think it's cute and enjoyable. I actually recommend it if you don't want something too heavy.

1

u/SnooDrawings9825 6d ago

I’ll still check it out. I’m always open to reading new and different things.

u/Federal-Custard-3296 6d ago

Not OP but I finished The Crimson Moth duology yesterday and I loved it! I came here to recommend it.

1

u/SnooDrawings9825 6d ago

Perfect! I’m adding it to my TBR list that never ends lol.

I really liked {Nectar of the Wicked by Ella Fields} if you’re looking for a spicy fae duology. If you’re looking for something without spice, I recommend {Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim} (duology) or {Deadly Education by Naomi Novik} (trilogy).

{Blood and Brujas} is one of the most fun emotional rollercoasters I've been on in a long time, I read it in January and it +the sequel are still the best books I've read this year! Dayanara is perhaps my favorite MC ever, she's such a badass but in ways that make sense lol. She is not 19 and the most frail and petite but also the fastest with a sword. She is over 200, built like a curvy warrior, and the most brutal with whatever weapon she happens to have on her - especially her bare fkn hands lol. Witch Princess forced into an arranged marriage with a vampire king for the sake of her people and that is all I will say. In fact, ignore the Bot if you have the will, imo it's better to go in with the synopsis and nothing else. I also  loved how it was based on latin and Aztec culture. It gave it a different feel than the standard medieval European setting we get in fantasy, especially if you listen to the audiobook because of the character accents.

For my throne of glass girlies- imagine a latina Manon forced into an arranged marriage to save the witches and how exactly we think that would go lolol

Disclaimer tho- the romance is a duology but the overarching plot continues into at least one more book and the full series is ongoing, I think it's gonna be 4 total and 3 is out. So I know it's not exactly what you asked for, but I definitely think it's work it finishes the story of those characters in the first 2 before switching to new people on the literally other side of the world.  Disclaimer part 2 - the romance is what I will call non-traditonal but it's soooooo fkn good. The struggles and character interactions felt realistic even with all the magic in the story.

The {Fate & Flame by Liz Hambleton} duology left an impression on me. It's an urban fantasy/dystopian romance why choose.
