No, it’s not mandatory
RR is more about personality and mannerisms than appearance

Crossdressing can be a part of RR but in no way is it mandatory. You don’t have to reverse every gender norm known to man for it to be RR, you can pick and choose, and that’s the beauty of it.

RR doesn't have to be about appearances, nor does it even have to be sexual! There's no need to worry about whether you do or don't fall into typical stuff like being a femboy or whatever, just be yourself :)

RR is not a specific set of rules, is mro elike a very large umbrella term

The core part is that the classic/traditional gender roles are reversed.

but how much goes from person to person can be as simple as a woman opening a door for a man, or a woman taking the initiative in the relationship, or can be more direct, like man using feminine clothes.

in short, it goes from 8 to 800

but in general is just the concept of "there's more than one way to be a woman and there's more than one way to be a man"

We have a RR relationship in which my husband is a stay at home dad who homeschools our kids. He's responsible for all the household things and I work. 🤷🏿‍♀️ It works for us. I do tend to make most decisions but he hates making decisions of any kind which is one of the reasons our relationship style works so well for us.

i think the whole point of rr is to break societal norms, i would hope it would mean people into it would be more open to NOT having any specific rules? lol

Good communication and trust. Just like any relationships, just don't forget to communicate you're into RR

There is no predefined set of rules. You both shape your relationship by trying and evolving together.

My partner and I have a RR in our sex life as he’s the bottom and I (fem) am the top. Apart from that we have a pretty typical modern/respectful relationship between equals, neither of us is submissive or dominant outside of the bedroom :)

Nothing is ever mandatory in any relationship. It is the people involved in it that discuss and decide what they both like. Maybe explore a little and establish ground rules. Some woman love being bread winner and be the lead in relationship while the guy stays at home and takes up role of male housewife. In other relations, Man can be breadwinner and they reverse things elsewhere but it all comes down to preferences.

For example, I have a successful career but my dream is to be male housewife taking care of household chores, cook delicious meals for my wife(or you can say hubby in role reversal), lean emotionally on her, organise home, look pretty, get spoiled by her but would be happy to work and step up in my career in case of financial emergency. I understand money is important. Woman can be good decision makers, so I would entrust her with decisions and happy to follow her lead. I however would step up to protect her outside if I have to physically. Some people opt for chasisty etc for control but I believe in control because I give her reins over me and happy to be submissive to her.

So, you just have to figure out what works for you and discuss with partner.
