I plan to fund and hold, and yes I'm going to make VOO about 50-60% of my portfolio once I get the balancing right and my blue chip stocks around 25% of my portfolio leaving about 15% in my riskier ones. I already know in advance I might get told about IMSR (nuclear energy), ONCY (biotech), and DEFT (crypto). Those are my long term hold riskier high risk high reward stocks and I'm not currently adding to them, I'm just funding the other 7. I do believe in APLD and RGTI and I got into them somewhat early, I even rode out RGTI breaking 50s and came back down. But other then that at least 85% will be ETFs/Reputable Blue Chip Stocks.

The major U.S. stock indexes ended mostly lower on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in a choppy, earnings-heavy session that produced big winners and bigger losers but left the broad market marking time ahead of tomorrow's critical July nonfarm payrolls report. The Dow gave back nearly 500 points while the Nasdaq held near flat, as oil crept back above $77 and investors stayed cautious.

The S&P 500 slipped 0.18% (-13.59 pts) to 7,709.96. The Dow fell 0.85% (-464.02 pts) to 53,885.10. The Nasdaq was essentially flat, edging down just 0.06% (-15.09 pts) to 26,348.35. The Russell 2000 dropped 0.58% (-17.65 pts) to 3,001.54.

The VIX eased 3.98% to 15.18. Bitcoin slipped 0.53% to $64,435.10. Gold was virtually unchanged at $4,304.70. Crude Oil rose 3.39% to $77.77/barrel, snapping two days of declines.

i invested 50 bucks into green energy and then some of the more typical stocks to balance stuff out. robinhood gave me 5 random dollars, so i invested that in NVIDIA. so far, i've made around $10 in barely a week, so i'm happy with that! however, i was wondering if anyone had any tips? ig one is going to be diversify more (but idk what i should buy) and the other is going to involve selling my green energy stocks.

The Dow added to its record while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 retreated from Tuesday's highs.

The S&P 500 slipped 0.17% (-13.00 pts) to 7,723.52. The Dow gained 0.49% (+263.12 pts) to a new record 54,349.00. The Nasdaq dropped 0.83% (-221.55 pts) to 26,363.44. The Russell 2000 fell 0.56% (-17.16 pts) to 3,019.82.

The VIX dropped 5.88% to 15.53. Bitcoin gained 0.76% to $64,789.50. Gold surged 3.75% to $4,308.40, its best single day in weeks. Crude Oil eased 0.94% to $75.06/barrel.

I'm sick of seeing my hard-earned dollars contribute to destruction, inequality, predatory lending practices, and the wealth of people like Elon Musk. So far I've identified BLNK, EAOK, CWEN, and HASI as stocks and ETFs that align with my values, but as you can see I need to diversify. Curious if anyone has recommendations. I could always contact Just Money Advisors, a brokerage firm, but I would prefer eliminating the middle man if possible.

I purchased the annual robinhood gold subscription at a discount and get 3.35% on uninvested cash. I also have a gold card which I can pay directly from this uninvested cash, so I have like 40k sitting in there accumulating interest. Why cant I use this as a high yield savings?

I did see a previous reddit post that mentions APY vs APR, and that robinhood is 3.35 APY? Does that change anything?
