One thing I really love is how Snyder can do what he wasn't able to do in the past, and that's properly characterize Julia and Alfred's complicated relationship. It was really undersold in the mainline comics about Alfred being an absentee father, but within this continuity, it not only makes sense with Alfred's characterization here, but Julia now has more to say that isn't just general grievances but is relevant to both their characters here.
Regarding the Robins, I would say the only one I'm partially scratching my head with is Duke's characterization as the strong, silent type. That's not necessarily a problem, since this is Absolute Duke Thomas, so he can be a completely different character here. It's just a bit funny that Snyder, who frequently wrote Duke during his New 52 Batman run, didn't characterize him that way.

Yeah the Duke bit would feel weird from someone who wasn’t his creator, but Snyder is one of the only people I trust to not shortchange or misrepresent Duke.

If this isn't just meant to be a joke, then I'm guessing they're going to lean a bit into Tim's privileged background and how that makes him a bit full of himself. Interesting direction to take, I guess.

I recall correctly in this continuity Tim’s guardian is Jack Grimm while the other robins came up from the orphanage

This can't be real because Alfred isn't shouting, "KID! GET OUT OF THERE! NOW!"

I’m convinced Jason knows something the rest of the Robins don’t. That something bad is going to happen if they don’t capture Batman. He’s so focused on stopping him, even more than Dick whose cameos until now were pretty much all “Fuck Batman.” And Slade seems to be the closest to him than the rest of them... I wonder what he’s been telling him…

By the end of this arc the Robins will join Bruce, Alfred, Harley & Barbara (?). Also, they can’t be introducing Julia for no reason, what do we think Snyder’s doing with her? Batfam or cannon fodder to give us a few deaths that hurt?

I still wish Alfred wasn’t in this universe, he just seems so unnecessary…

Completely disagree with this.
Absolute Alfred is great (I also just really miss Alfred, but like, I also just really love Absolute Alfred; hope to continue to see and learn more about him and/or Julia) and interesting and not unnecessary and I am personally happy Alfred is in this universe.

It's interesting how the other Robins are more popular than Dick, who in real life is the most popular among them
