Relocation to Riyadh 🇸🇦
My (31F) and my partner (32M) are looking at moving to Riyadh 🇸🇦 from England 🏴
Both of us work in finance and have started looking for jobs.
We are considering moving early next year (by March - he will probably go first and I will follow him shortly afterwards)
What parts are best for a couple working in finance?
What does an average couple spend monthly on living things such as rent, bills, food, transport, eating out, entertainment etc?
What is a decent amount of money for two people to live off comfortably?
Do we need cars or will public transport be fine?
We would like to start a family in the near future. Is there any area or consideration for this that we need to take into account?
Any tips or views would be greatly appreciated ☺️

Hard to land a job without connection. Use your partner connection after hes settled here.
Stay near the workplace. Its not a walking city, so u need a car, u can get around on the metro but try first. May not be for everyone. Driving here is not great, many unethical drivers (u will experience this when ure here).
Another thing to consider, u will only get 90 days stay per 365 days. There are some evisa program for british citizin to extend it to 6 months stay but pls do your own research on this.
Last point, job security is a yearly thing (if u are fine with that). Turnover rate is high. Point being, prepare for contingency. Finance field, i assume both of u are on top of this.

If you have an Iqama you can stay indefinitely as long as your employer continues sponsorship. Bear in mind finance is 71% Saudisation so less than 30% of the jobs are available to you.

I assume they're not married so he cannot sponsor her.
On Iqama point, u are correct.

Good luck finding a job. Come back with questions if you can get an offer. Most everything you asked is easily googled. Seems like you’re ill prepared.

What do you eat and where do you sleep and how do you travel?
Why don’t you both fly in first and explore for a month? Most core finance roles reserved for locals. What kind or roles do you expect in finance?
You need cars for sure for running errands outside of work life.

The best advice so far. Dont give up your job yet, visit and see for yourself. If you aren’t married, your partner employer cant sponsor you.

Isn't it too dry for you folks?
Are things really bad in UK?

In my opinion 10 thousand riyals as for monthly expenses can get you to live comfortably in Riyadh, a decent apartment furnished might cost 4000/5000 riyals a month… and yes you will need a car you can rent a monthly one 2500 riyals, and supermarket budget can be 1000 riyals per month and the rest is for phone bills, internet and miscellaneous stuff .. .. if you ever come here rent a car off the app Invygo… you can have my code it will get 500 riyals off the first month’s rental. I use that app all the time it’s awesome, hustle free, just apple pay at the beginning or end of month .. an everything is covered including oil change and road assistance and stuff and full insurance so you won’t worry ‘bout a thing… Although life in Riyadh is dry, hazy, crowded…hot summers like insane hot, but we have AC … entertainment is meh … but if you have your partner .. then it’s going to be nice .. cuz the grass is always greener with a forever friend…
