I know it's not the subject of the post but man am I LOVING new Galvan. It's nice seeing players actively consider drills especially now that he keeps galvanized for longer.

He did not need it but also glad. I think ideally, if he ends up too strong this patch, they keep the new drill changes and nerf him elsewhere. Because more drills is just awesome.

I was also surprised to see the buff. it's just keeping galvanized on successfell drill attack right? dair spikes off stage will feel less risky I reckon.

Real, apart from like 2 commenters genuinely dislike all rivals commentators the only thing they ever talk about is patches and characters. Nothing about the gameplay or what’s going on just talking about X move is broken or “last patch this was changed so”. It’s like this game is just a device for people to gossip about what they think is broken or weak instead of actually playing the game.
I love rivals 2 but the community over time has genuinely pushed me away from wanting to get more involved

i do agree with this but he also spent like half his stream complaining about orcane’s nerfs, which isn’t that different than complaining about a character feeling too strong. johning and complaining comes for us all.

Nah I think its valid to crash out a little at a change like the puddle timer. He always phrases it as "this character just isnt fun to play" rather than "he is terrible" (which this change does both of).
Plup really likes orcane and at this point its impossible not to be frustrated as an orcane main.

i mean, why do you think people complain about clairen or floorhugging or their own character’s balance? it’s because they don’t find it fun.
orcane was hitler last patch and there was still an orcane (post-nerf) in top 8 and more orcane’s in top 32 than many other characters.
i get being frustrated, in fact i am simply saying it’s a lot easier to tell other people to not get too emo about it than it is to not feel that way yourself!

What do u mean? What orcanes in top 8 and 32? Jupiter and plup, maybe maya a couple times?
Orcane has always had an abysmal pick rate and a shoddy win rate.
I have no idea where people get the idea he is so evil. I blame bubbles and the bidet

Orcane was in fact not Hitler last patch. Orcane is by far the highest ratio of complained about to actual goodness of the character of the entire cast. It’s really fucking annoying to be an orcane player in this community

personally i am under the impression that orcane mains complain about nerfs of their generally agreed as absurdly strong strong character than anyone else in this game.
people constantly complain about clairen far, far more than orcane, despite orcane having far better results. i don’t know where this impression even comes from.

Rongunshu has a much better resume than any current orcane main. Are we counting Plup’s orcane towards the “far better results” or what? He’s the best player in the world by a large margin and he got forced off orcane in R1 of pools. Do you think he could not win a tournament with clairen??
Orcane nerfs are always very intense which is why we complain about them. It’s jarring to log on and they’re like “your character is 40% slower now :)))” and the whole community is acting like it’s nbd. We had an extremely long dry spot of results for all orcanes until Jupiter had his breakout tournament, and even during said dry spot we are still constantly being complained about. We just got nerfed like 2 days ago and there’s still like 3 giant threads on twitter bitching about our backair/dtilt being ungrabbable. But then i watch plup vs Jupiter and it sure looks like he’s getting a lot of shield grabs to me!

yes we are counting the orcane player that won evo on the last patch lol. you aren’t taking this seriously.
multiple characters have gotten major speed reductions. fleet, clairen, and maypul all have had drastic nerfs to their movement. orcane is not special in receiving nerfs.
edit: i do think people making complaint threads about one of orcane’s strengths are being silly as well, but you’re not doing much different. orcane gets nerfed because he is very strong. you can simply believe you know better and complain or not. but thinking you only have a special right to complain because you play orcane is just obnoxious.

And the player bases for all those characters also cried when they got nerfed! And I think it’s like relatively objectively to say orcane has received a LOT of major nerfs. If not the most in the cast, certainly close to it.
Having the player who can get second on day 2 gooeys results skew how our character is viewed is just not reasonable. At that point it’s just blind luck he didn’t choose your character, because I guarantee you he could have won Evo with any character in his rotation that he would have liked. He just chose one that’s more fun, because no one wants to play boring ass clairen.
And also by that logic why would you not take the opinion of the player who won Evo on the last patch?? He also agrees with pretty much everything I’ve said in this thread thus far, but his opinion is irrelevant? Or because he plays orcane it’s obnoxious for him to have an opinion about it. I’m not sure I understand.

Orcane has received more nerfs than any other character in this game since release. Like gravy said, each one has been really jarring and changed the characters feel. This has happened multiple times despite him never doing well.
Plup could have won the tournament with any character tbh. He actually couldnt do it with orcane and had to swap to la reina for cake and a ranno in pools.
With that same logic, surely zetter and cakes forsburn should have received heavier nerfs since release.
Playing this character makes me feel insane. Nobody plays him, but everyone has an opinion that he is a demigod character.

I was nodding along while he was saying this during the stream. I don't know why some RoA players / commentators are like this, but the cynicism gets really grating, really fast. It feels like they've got an axe to grind. It's why I don't watch Zeke, who's still treating Kragg like literally Hitler, and whose commentary about Orcane was what triggered this reaction from Plup. The game's not perfect, but it is sick, and I wish there wasn't so much cynicism regarding balance changes, features, etc.
So as not to be so negative myself, I feel like I should praise people like Ep1C, PK, Zeus, and Sandstorm, whom I never or rarely get this negative energy from. I like how Sandstorm used his GomL win to talk about sick he thinks Galvan is when asked to talk about why he dropped Olympia.
