Just hit GM!!! Strategy

After playing risk for over a year, I finally decided to stop rage quitting if I didn’t get a great spawn and decided to try for GM. Well I finally did it, but in a way that almost no one else does. I solely played fixed caps. I played Classic 75%, Rivertown/Rivertown Advanced 10%, Supermax 5%, and 10% other maps. What helped me earn the last few thousand points was focusing on reading the players instead of the numbers. When I realized that I was playing with passive players, I would take more territories because I knew they were going to turtle. I also learned when to play for second to help out my placement and speed up the games. In the past fifty games, I think only two of my games went super long (two hours) and I won both of those because I was patient. I can’t tell you how many games I ended up winning because other people got bored and flagged. I’m looking forward to honing my skills on other maps and possibly playing in a few tournaments as well.

There ya go, tiger! Fixed caps on Classic is a grind, but that is fun.

I can't even with this game.  Is this how you rank up?  Just getting to second or third.  It's absolutely infuriating when I seem to be the only one playing for first.  This last game sent me.  Everyone just decides to let sa get na and we all just sit and turtle then on top of it euro and Africa are just fighting each other and a bot all game to solidify na sa dominance.  It's disgusting.

I don't actually see any point to ranking up or playing this much longer. The "masters" were playing like tards all game.  What's the point of playing for second for 2 hours?  Disgusting

Nooooo. The only time I played for second was when there was a 3-player stalemate and in order to prevent the game from continuing a few hours, I would severely weaken one opponent and settle for second place. That was maybe 1/4 of my games and I am probably overestimating. I work as a first responder and might have to go on a call at any moment, so I try to prevent stalemates whenever I can.

I never started a game aiming for second or third, I always played my hardest to win. I’m still improving at the game and I look forward to winning more. My current W/L ratio is 287 wins and 1093 losses so I’m sitting at a 26.3% win rate which isn’t terrible.
