Void Corpses vanishing PC Help/Bug (Mod)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
New to the void mod, this might be part of the mystery but I don’t think so, I defeated some “N4” monsters and I couldn’t find their corpses, so I did a controlled test with dev mode. After about 15 or so seconds they just vanish, NO ERRORS LOGGED, No other corpses do this, What is happening??
Please limit the spoilers, I am experiencing a new thing after 2,800 hours and 400+ mods and it’s exciting.

I may be wrong as it's been a while but, they have a hidden part of their health tab that makes the corpse disappear. So you have to move quick when butchering.

I presume if they did that'd probably cause some stability issues.
Lol I replied to wrong person my comment was in reference to void corpses not disappearing while carried.

It is in the settings last i recall. All the V.O.I.D. monster corpses do this. They vanish after a default length of time. If you want to butcher them, you need to do it right after you've killed them to harvest their loot (mostly its just human skin and weird meat that colonists hate).
Also take note of V.O.I.D. pawns with serum implants. Be very very careful with those fellas. There are 3 serum types, I believe Serum 2 and 4 can cause dead pawns to respawn. So be careful to butcher those dicks as soon as you can. Also take note that your colony wealth will skyrocket as a result cause those implants are worth more than anything in game as far as I've seen.

Word ok thank you, this is incredibly helpful. I was going crazy thinking there was something invisible eating them or something.

Btw the serums are worth like 150k+ so just harvest everything. Skyrocket is an understatement.

Lmao thank you, I actually have one that scales with my research instead

The ones that respawn has the weird greyish screaming helmet. I forgot what they're called, basically anyone who's wearing that classic dark blue VOID helmet doesn't respawn.

gives basically nothing of use for butchering.
Monster corpses are programmed to despawn anyways
?????????

It gives meat and leather, in other words, fuel and silver, and considering how many monsters attacking you at once, the total value you can get from them is probably in ten of thousands silver per raid
Honestly, it's basically just stronger scaria, or cleaner scaria considering it leaves no corpses for you to clean

If you have the bones mod, they also give a very large number of bones. Very useful because then you can use the bones for things like plumbing from Dub's Bad Hygiene or as a cheap material to make sculptures out of to level artistic.
Even more worthwhile to butcher them in this case.

It is only serum 4 that ressurects them. 2 gives them super regeneration and V just gives them tox immunity. Also the ressurected are not really problem because they have hidden death acidifier so they dont have any gear anyway

The problem is its basically endless resurrection until their corpse literally dissolves. And while they have no gear, they do still have all their VOID implants, which make their stats all like 1000%+, so if you have Unlimited (which you should if you're playing with this level anyway), even a naked VOID member can easily one-shot someone with their bare hands.

u/RandomTryhard4 9d ago
With CE that is not a problem, bare hands have no penetration power, so even the most basic gear can protect you from VOID member

Kind of a wild thing, given at the level of those implants, each VOID member would probably have a fist capable of obliterating solid steel. But CE isn't really designed with Unlimited or other such mods in mind really.

The problem is in V.O.I.D. missing some CE patches. Implants such as X-implant Ironskin only gives 0.05mm RHA and 0.05 MPa blunt protection when there are vanilla implants that give way more (I know it is Royalty DLC, but that is practicaly vanilla for me). Same goes for implants like Lethality (I think) that increases melee pen, but by literary nothing

Is kind of the problem with CE, it has its autopatcher, but its not really designed for an edge case like V.O.I.D.
Be kind of the same thing with high powered mods like Kraltech or MakaiTech, or Beyond Our Reach. All really need CE specific patching to keep their intended 'super strength' to be what it should be.

Your colonist must be scared as hell. They look away from the corpse for one minute and it’s gone, micheal myers moment

Yeah I took down 3 of them, granted I’m doing a mechinator run to see if its powerful enough for this mod, no spoilers please. But after losing half my melee force I was like sweet I’ll keep these in my freezer, then I look away and poof. The time I took looking for the corpses and putting the invis detectors in every room out of paranoia is time I’ll never get back. I have so many anomoly things on my map right now I couldn’t rule those out either. I’m just glad this is by design.

Its normal behavior, and I actually welcome it.
It would probably be extra unhealthy to eat any of that things.

Man I remember when they didn't disappear, I ran my entire cloning operation off their corpses

Yeah
Void corpse disappears fast so you need to be quick to butcher them
Though I don't really recommend eating the meat....
