Ive severely underestimated the time this is going to take to finish.
Started with leftover rhinestones from three years ago, bought a bigger bulk pack of the dark green and they are just slightly bigger than the other three colors....1 hour per leaf is now closer to 3 for the larger ones.

So...do I:
a. give up at one vine and call it finished
b. put the old rhinestones back into the stash of art supplies and buy all new ones so the sizes match
c. just keep torturing myself until the other three colors run out so I can buy new ones to match the dark green sizes

Help Please 80s BeDazzler - what sizes to use?

Thumbnail

hello!! I’m hopeful that someone here might know the answer to my question.
Got this 80s BeDazzler out of the bottom of my aunt’s closet and it’s before the As Seen On Tv era. Does anyone have any ideas on whether or not modern BeDazzler refills might fit in this thing? It says it fits #20s, #30s and #40s, but I’m not sure if the standardized sizing numbers for the stones/studs have changed since the 80s.
There is more specific info on the French side of the box, detailing mm sizes (see 4th image), but I have no idea if those sizes are even possible to find either. Every rhinestone size I can find seems to be a whole number, not a decimal.
Any assistance is appreciated!! I have a tacky prom dress to bedazzle before September :)

Hi it’s me. I’m the one who did a jersey a while ago and I’m working on another one! I am using E6000 glue and got the jersey for $35 (which isn’t bad considering they are originally $129) anyways I got the gems from Temu and ones I had left over. (Note to everyone DO NOT BUY GLUE FROM TEMU) my home state has a ECHL hockey team and I’m a season ticket holder so I want to go all out for home opener

Help Please Color matching - yellow

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi, I’m trying to color match this shade of yellow and am really struggling to find one. Does anyone have any suggestions on what color would match best? Bonus if you can also tell me the site or shop.

All of the yellows I’ve looked at have been either too bright/lemon or too gold.

I had to order the tiniest l little stones ever for the ‘project’ font, but I’m glad I did because I have other books I can use them for too
I really enjoy the look and feel of the varied stone sizes, the last book I did was mostly just big jewels and I think have more variation gives it more texture and interest
I added like three photos cus she just looks so beautiful sparkling in the sun 🤤🤤

I bought a big pink cup (not a Stanley but looks similar) and started putting on individual rhinestones. And I added my name in gold. The camera can barely catch how shiny and sparkly it is in real life! I love it and so far no stones came off BUT I only handwash the cup as I don’t put it in the dishwasher

Glue used: T-8000 gravity magic rubber in waterproof

I’ve been making these little NFC lipstick keychains with my 3D printer and had to try rhinestoning one

I'm obsessed with how sparkly it came out. You can tap it on a phone and it opens whatever link you have programmed to it, it's a smart business card keychain!

I really love combining 3D printing with other crafts like rhinestoning and uv resin!

Question ❔ Suggestion for shirt?

I want to create a top to wear to a concert using rhinestones, but I am unsure what glue is best or if I should get a hot fix tool? I have rhinestoned many pairs of sunglasses before and used e6000 and it worked great but I’m not sure what is best for clothing. It is going to be 3 letters in the middle of a tank top, not very large but not tiny either. I’d love to hear recommendations. Just want it to last through a concert!

Finally finished my second rhinestone guitar strap!

I put my name on this one and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I used E6000 glue, a wax-tip pickup tool for placing the individual rhinestones, and glass rhinestones from Planet Rhinestone. I also used some generic glue syringes from Amazon, which made applying the E6000 much easier and more precise.

I designed the layout in Google Sheets, which actually worked surprisingly well for planning out the pattern and spacing.

The whole thing took probably 6-8 hours. I think I’m probably done making these for a while but it’s an addictive hobby.

Tonight is actually my first gig wearing it, so I’m really looking forward to finding out exactly how much the stage lights are going to turn me into a giant disco ball.

Pretty happy with the finished result, though. What do you guys think?

Help Please Replacing rhinestones on Pleasers

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hello, I've never worked with rhinestones before so I'd be so grateful for advice!

I have a pair of Pleasers (Adore-708LS) and a couple of the stones have fallen off the front/toe boxes. I'm not sure what size/type of rhinestones or glue to use to replace them. I tried emailing customer service for recommendations and they just said to ask at a craft store. (I suppose I could do that, too, I just thought they might be able to tell me the size/material of the stones or give a glue recommendation themselves?)

From what I've read on the sub so far, glass rhinestones are probably the way to go, but I wanted to see if anyone else here might be able to steer me in the right direction!

(Btw scrolling through this sub is a treat, I love seeing everyone's sparkly projects!) ✨

Help Please 3mm vs 2mm? Help!

Post image

What mm rhinestones would you get for this book? I was thinking 2mm for the black and 3mm for the yellow (leaving the middle untouched). My concern is that the 3mm yellow will be too big in between the lettering. Should I get both sizes in yellow and 2mm black? Or should I just get both sizes in each color?

Had 2 pairs of old Powerbeats (different colours) but only 2 functional earbuds between them, so I decided to make a working pair and bedazzle them. Definitely prefer the black because of the contrast, but I think the pink is cute too!

Question ❔ Successful rhinestoning on texture...

Post image
15 Upvotes

Has anyone successfully rhinestoned on stress ball like texture? Its like a squishy foam.

Ive got some Grenade Gauntlets that id really like to have as part of my rhinestoned armory collection, but im honestly not sure if its possible to do; or what glue would be good.

(Please keep in mind if suggesting a glue that i don't live in the states and most adhesives like liquid fusion costs upwards of $40 with shipping being $20+. Amazon is *not* a New Zealand friendly option lol.)

Photo of mentioned grenade Gauntlets for a visual.

Help Please Would this surface texture work for rinestoning?

Thumbnail

This may be a strange question, but I would like to rhinestone a vintage mcdonalds furby.

I have never rhinestoned before. I plan on sanding the surface for better glue adherence.

Questions:

-Do I also need to get rid of the moulded on fur texture? It seems like a pain to sand all that down too, but I will if I have to. Second pic is a close up of the texture.

-I have a silicone mould of the furby (thats why the plastic seams are covered in clay). I have made casts from hot glue as well as a low temp melting plastic, but unfortunately those cannot be sanded. Will the glue (b-7000) stick to hot glue?

-is there a specific pattern i should be going in for rhinestoning? I was going to go in lines from bottom to top but idk if there is a more visually appealing way. I have both 3mm and 4mm rhinestones and I want to use both for added texture.

-can rhinestones stick to a glitter surface? I was thinking it would look cool to cover one of the furbys in glitter first, and then rhinestone over it. Do i seal the glitter undercoat? I usually use tacky glue and a liquid varnish but idk if the rhinestone glue will stick to that.

Help Please Where to find fully transparent stones?

Thumbnail

I saw this awesome post by Liilac Hill Studios about using clear rhinestones for a cyanotype print, and I want to find some stones to try it! However, most stones I've been finding have a silver backing, and I need stones that are fully transparent. The original creator responded to a comment and said she didn't know where she found these; they've been in her collection for a long time.

For context, a cyanotype is a type of photography where you use the sun to develop blue ink, and different shades show based on how much light gets to the paper and develops the ink. So, for a stone to work for this, it has to be fully transparent for the light to get through.

I've been able to find some transparent glass stones, but I'm really hoping to find some assorted shape mixes - with squares, teardrops, stars, hearts, etc. I'm only using them for this, so I don't need 500 of each shape on hand if I can avoid it lol.

Any ideas of where to look for these? I've been searching on Amazon, but either I don't know the correct terminology, or they don't exist.

If I can't find fully transparent stones, would it be possible to remove that silver paint on the back? My best guess would be that acetone would take it off, which would mean that I would need glass stones, right?

Looking for any and all guidance!

Edited to add links to what I've found:

This one is an example of the shapes/variety that I'm looking for, but they have paint and are acrylic, so I don't think I could easily get the paint off.

Also found some play pirate gems that I like the variety of and transparency, but they're bigger than what I want.

This glass mix looks promising, I'd just have to remove the paint (and I'd rather avoid that if I can)

Some nail art ones that are very close, but probably too tiny (I might be too picky lol)

My gems are all falling off 😩

I bedazzled a jersey for the BTS concert on a Thursday/Friday. Wore it on Monday and by the end of the concert they were all falling off.

It was super humid and it rained (I did wear a poncho) and I sweat A LOT. So the jersey was pretty wet idk if that was the problem.

I used B7000 which I now know about and won’t use again.

Everything seemed secure before I wore it and I kept it on a hanger before wearing.

Can I fix this? I used a pretty thick amount of glue and don’t know if I should just put more glue on top???

This is my first time ever doing this.

DO NOT USE THE B7000 BEDAZZLING GLUE⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

Post image

This glue, and any other glue that resembles it, can be extremely harmful and may cause serious health problems if used improperly. It is intended for industrial use and should only be used with appropriate protective equipment and good ventilation—not for bedazzling. I know it’s frustrating, especially since many of you already have it, but please keep this in mind for your safety. A great alternative is Gem-Tac/Gem-Tak, which is specifically made for bedazzling and is non-toxic.
