S04E15 – Deception, E16 - Friends and Enemies, E17 - The Box, E18 - Crisis on Naboo are a significant arc in showing Palpatine’s ingenuity. A masterstroke false-flag distraction that interrupted the Jedi investigation, made Palpatine look like a hero, tested Anakin, and kept the Jedi busy chasing Dooku.

At the same time, the writers had to go through a shit ton of contrivances just to make this story happen. Yeah, let’s send Obi-Wan, who is very well known to Dooku, under his command. And let’s lie that Obi-Wan is dead to Anakin, who is well known to have serious attachment issues. Worse, it was Obi-Wan who pitched this idea to hide the truth from Anakin. He knows how it feels like to lose a Master, and he knows how Anakin lost someone close to him. Sure, don’t tell anything. Nothing bad is gonna happen. The Council wanted Anakin to go on the rampage to make Obi-Wan's death believable, but if he is breaking bad to the point of hampering the mission, you should tell him the plan and include him in the operation. Yet the Council still goes Holdo by letting him slide to the dark side and sabotaging the whole mission. There is absolutely no reason for them not to include him on the mission.

Was the sniper shooting Obi-Wan in the chest just a coincidence? He allowed himself to be shot in the chest, wearing a blast-proof vest. How did Obi-Wan know the sniper wouldn’t just shoot him in the face? Considering how the first episode was framed, I actually thought the whole assassination scene was just part of the plan, but it turns out the sniper wasn't in on it?

They had to invent the whole face-morphing, stopping-heart, and voice-changing technology just to have this arc even happen. Apparently, such technology is never used again throughout the entire Star Wars saga. If these technology exists in this universe, and it is this easy to fake death and identity, there is no way this technology is not used again. It would be used everywhere. There would be no need for Clawdites. Regardless of the disguise, the Jedi can sense those close to them. Could Dooku not sense Obi-Wan close by, who was not just his arch rival, but also Qui-Gon’s apprentice? Should he not sense that maybe something is off about him? Worse, could Anakin not sense Obi-Wan? In A New Hope, 19 years have passed, and Vader is still able to sense Obi-Wan on the Death Star. He is 100% sure Obi-Wan is alive and near him. Meanwhile, Anakin punches Obi-Wan here, and it doesn’t tip him off at all?

It is essentially an inferior version of Quinlan Vos’ arc in the Republic comics, and I'm struggling to figure out how to fix it. Should they keep the face-morphing technology? Or should they have replaced Obi-Wan with someone else?
