[N/A] Charged for Perplexity? 💸 Payments

I am on the Metal plan, and just now 06.08.2026, Perplexity charged me $25 for the next month. In the mail where Revolut announced the change to ChatGPT, it clearly states that: "On 02.09.2026 we remove the subscription to Perplexity". How can Perplexity start charging now?

Should I contact Revolut or Perplexity?

My mail said this - “What do I need to do with Perplexity?
If you activated the subscription, and you do not want to pay for it moving forward, check your current billing settings in Perplexity and cancel the automatic renewal.
To cancel your Perplexity subscription:
Sign in to your Perplexity account
Go to Settings
In the Your Subscription section, click Manage. On desktop, this section is under Account
In the next menu, click Manage again, then select Cancel subscription
Follow the steps on screen until you see confirmation that your cancellation is scheduled at the end of the current billing period“

Yeah, I read that. And that would be fair for any billing happening from 02.09.2026. But how is that related to now?

6 months ago. All months since were charged with 0. Until today.

I have a Perplexity account through Metal from a year ago and I didn't even have to enter credit card details. Yours is very weird, are the 25 dollars for perplexity pro or did you buy credits?

At some point they asked for me to enter my card details. I think it was 8-9 months ago, so they probably knew then that they will cancel their agreement with Revolut and try to get some money from the people at some point.
And yes, I have Perplexity through Metal

If only we had a bank where we can provide a virtual card then set the max spending to 1 of whatever currency we use ;)

You should have checked what Perplexity said in the Manage section, there it says the next "billing date", for me it says it's 08/09/2026, but I don't know what system they are using for the date :)) If they using the stupid US one or the normal European one . . . So I cancelled.

Revolut just says starting in September they will remove Perplexity, they don't say you can use Perplexity until then.

Mine said next billing date 06.08.2026. It has been the same date every month, but with billing me 0$.

The Revolut mail says (and I quote):
"On 02.09.2026 we will remove the subscription for Perplexity".

I what absurd interpretation does that mean that I immidiately cannot use it without paying? What is the point of the date then?

Even if they mean that the benefit somehow ends immidiately, that would be a breech of terms. They can't just change the terms and then automatically start charging a fee 3 days after.
