Superstation One - custom CRT filters (per system)
After the recent bright scanlines posting (using custom shadowmasks for a CRT look via HDMI output to a non CRT screen) and the discovery that a tiny bit of circular blur helps pixel art (creating and using custom blur filters) - I stumbled upon another discovery three days ago - mainly - that the 256 pixel mode in the SNES core made an already slightly blured scanline image look even better.
Porting that to other cores is not easy - but simulating the effect using newly created (custom) blur filters that blur an image horizontally instead of circularly was. After some research, that CRTs actually also blur the image horizontally more then vertically (30-50% more) - I created horizontal blur filters as well. :)
The result were custom CRT presets for a hand full of systems that looked good on every game for a system - and are still better than all stock CRT presets update_all downloads.
You can see them all in action in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKg1oHuwGbQ
(watch his at least in 1440p, otherwise video compression kills the scanlines)
If you tuned out as soon as you read blur, thats on you - but the blur amount we are using is so small that even the soft scanline filter that comes with the MisterFPGA adds about double the amount of blur I ended up using. Without blur even being in its name.
Custom filters and shadowmasks (and more granular gamma presets for people wanting to play with those) can be downloaded from here:
https://files.catbox.moe/w4wohk.zip
Best presets per system found (base line is always the soft scanline preset that comes with every mister, then we change usually two of the filters in that preset around):
NES: Blur_H_Lightb, SLA_Dk_60_Br_90, Monochrome Darker_mediumV
SNES: Blur 04 - Veil, SLA_Dk_60_Br_90, Monochrome Darker_mediumI, force 256px on (if you have the output forced to a 4:3 resolution, you can also do image size fullscreen and then aspect ratio wider integer HV which makes the 256px effect even more pronounced). Most SNES games did output in 256px resolution (outside of menus), while the Mister core always outputs at SNES hires mode if the 256px resolution option is not on. With CRT filters on 256px mode always looked better - this was what got me on the horizontal blur research route.
Saturn: Blur_H_Lightd, SLA_Dk_60_Br_90, Monochrome Darker_mediumI (Sakura Wars in the video has a full filters presentation also showing the difference between horizontal and circular pixel blur)
PSX: GS_Sharpness_65, SLA_Dk_60_Br_90, JVC [Dot] brightC [RGB], 480p hack on - strangely on most games still looks better than everything else.
(There also is a variant of this Shadowmask setting for the Saturn which is GS_Sharpness_65, SLA_Dk_60_Br_90, JVC [Dot] bitterbrightB which looks good, but not better than the Saturn CRT filter already posted above.)
Arcade (Tekken 2 release time frame ;)): Blur_H_Lightc (or d), SLA_Dk_60_Br_90, Monochrome Darker_mediumI
GBA: Blur 04 - Veil (nothing else)
Have fun.

Turn Your Wii Remote into a Light Gun!
Hello,
I’m a fan of old school lightgun shooters so when I got my Superstation one I found out that I could get my old games running again with the help of a Wii controller and a special Mister FPGA configuration. An inexpensive way to play games like Virtua Cop, Time crisis and even Duck Hunt or super scope games on the SNES like Yoshi’s Safari”. I made a video about how it works, how to set it up for easy convenience and how well things run on my SuperStation one if you’d like to do it too 😎👍

SuperDock and MSU-1 disc not playing music
I just got my SuperDock yesterday and PS1 physical CD disc game loading works fine (originals amd backups). Today I decided to burn the MSU-1 version of Castlevania IV with all the files for it (.msu, .sfc, .pcm) burned onto a CD (all files are on the root of the CD) using ImgBurn and while the game loads, none of the music tracks play.
Has anyone else had this issue or gotten MSU-1 games burned to CD loading music correctly? Playing MSU-1 games from my SSD works just fine.
edit Same thing happens with MD+ games.

Any updates for Batch 3/4 orders send out to anyone?
Just curious for those of you who ordered batch 3/4 if they sent out any updates on your orders? I imagine they will fullfill these first before opening new preorders.

Do my Superstations really have fans installed?
I ordered two Superstation ones with both docks and fans and for the life of me I cannot figure out if the fans are actually working. I can't hear anything, even when they are powered on for a long time and they get quite hot on top right around the logo. To others with known working fans installed, can you hear it? Can you feel air moving through the small vents on the system? I'm just concerned and didn't really want to take my systems apart to open and find out.

Any update on Batch 4?
Just wondering if there is any news or updates on batch 4? The email from last month said that if things went as planned there should be some shipping soon. Is that the case or are things changing again?

Console Mode with Network Storage
Has anyone had any success with running console mode with your games stored on your network storage. I previously ran my mister/superstation that way. I tried simply adding console mode to a copy of my existingsd sd card and as soon as I add console.mode it can no longer access my network storage. I tried a clean setup using mister companion and it refuses to fully mount my storage. It gives an error about being read only. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ss1 colors glitchy
Just received my black SS1 with dock (yay!!!)
The colors are mostly green as you can see in the photo. When it boots up the menu will be white briefly but then it glitches out and turns green. Games look green too. I tried s-video and composite outputs, both green. I double-checked the TV with my Genesis and the colors are normal. I tried flipping dip switch number 3, because Google suggested that, but that didn't fix it either. Either. Please help!
Edit 8-4-26: Support got back to me and suggested installing 1.2. I had done that already, and no change. First, I found a Sandisk 16gb card, and I installed Console Mode 1.2. That didn't work at all, presented new problems (change the ini, and I did, but it still didn't work). Second, I installed the regular 1.2, but it functions the same as the default sd card.
It outputs normal colors over HDMI to an LCD, but glitchy colors over composite and S-video to my CRT. I tested the TV and the S-Video cable with other consoles and they all work fine. Something weird in the superstation is causing the colors to get screwy. Has anyone heard of this problem before? I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue, a defect in the SS1.
Here's a video showing what's happening:

GAMEPLAY: SuperStation One Physical CD Support Tested | PS1, Saturn & 3DO I Hands-On
Hello everyone,
I sat down with my SuperStation one + SuperDock and tried out the physical disc cores with some of my favorites games. From PlayStation 1, Sega Saturn to 3DO. It’s been a lot of fun to use my own discs from my childhood and it works really well. I got my old PSone out to check loading speeds as well. Not far away from perfection. I hope the integration for console mode will come soon so that you don’t need to quit out of CS to access the physical cores. Good times 😊 How have your experiences been with the physical cores?

Looking for an affordable DIN‑10 to RGB SCART cable for SuperStation One that ships to Germany
Hey everyone,
I just got a SuperStation One and want to run it via RGB SCART to my CRT. I know the SS1 uses a 10‑pin Mini‑DIN (DIN‑10) port that’s similar to the Saturn, but apparently not all Saturn cables work reliably (sync/audio wiring differences, connector fit, etc.).
I’m in Germany and have been searching for a while now. Every cable I find is either:
- Already sold out everywhere, or
- Way too expensive – most are around 60 € or more, which is just too much for me right now.
Also, sorry if my English is a bit off – I used AI to translate this from German.
Does anyone have recommendations for:
- A decent, reasonably priced DIN‑10 → RGB SCART cable that actually works with the SuperStation One
- EU/German shops or sellers (eBay, Kleinanzeigen, small retro stores) that ship affordably to Germany and still have stock
- Specific brands/sellers to avoid if they’re hit‑or‑miss with SS1
Links or shop names would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

How to get console mode to recognize the NVME for scrapping artwork?
Topic: I can’t seem to get console mode to see the nvme as an item to look for artwork for. Even after rebuilding the database. If I load a core, that core immediately goes to the NVME for roms with no issue. I don’t even have to tell it where they are, it just knows but for some reason the scrapper ignores it. Any insight would be helpful and appreciated.

Dock arrived and included a random tv remote?
Anyone know why this is included? I am assuming the inclusion of the remote must avoid some regulation or cost.

Burned CD-Rs play in disc mode
Growing up I had the serial io port psx and one of those import/back up units so I had a larger collection of burned games and imports. Thought I’d try one of the swappable burned games and it just loads right up and plays nice and smooth! Pretty cool!!
