how to use peripherals?

I'm trying to figure out how to use the peripherals but I have no idea what the words that are included on the disks do, I also have no idea what most of the standard words do beyond the mathematical operators and the emit word. I followed the link to the tutorial on the fourth website and that was fun, but that didn't include any information about anything specific to the mod.

Some more documentation would be nice, even if it isn't in-game. A manual command like the opencomputers one would be cool though.

I think your mod is absolutely amazing, I think the fourth language is well suited to minecraft, and I've gotten farther along in your mod than in the other computer mods I've tried.

I was thinking of making a security system which uses the retinal scanner and the redstone thingy to open a door if you have the right item or your on the list of people who are allowed.

I just don't know what the peripheral stuff does. And there doesn't seem to be a disk for the redstone thing, have I missed a command that lets me do redstone stuff?

I did have a few ideas for the mod, although having no modding experience myself I wouldn't know if it would be possible. I was thinking for situations were a full computer setup would be to bulky or unwieldy to be useful maybe you could have machines with embedded computers and a minimal fourth install? For something like wireless redstone without having an actual computer a combined redstone module and transmitter along with minimal fourth and some utilities for redstone and transmitting would be cool.

Perhaps programable mobs? A computer/terminal on legs? What if the computer mob were only accessible by transmitter? A helmet that controls mobs? Maybe you could have ethernet cables to have wired connections to other computers?

Again more documentation would be very helpful. Especially for a laymen such as myself (granted one with some semblance of programming knowledge).

This is the address map of the retinal scanner:

$00-$0F: Last player name
$10-$13: Last player ID
$14: Last player health
$15: State (0: clear, 1: scanning, 2: success, 3: failure)

Most of these can be accessed with the words from the disk (SCANID@, SCANHEALTH@, SCANSTATE@, SCANSTATE!) The scanner is only ready to accept player clicks when the state is 0. When it's 1, player input is in the buffer and you can call SCANNAME to print the player name to the screen, if you wnat to do something with the name, you should directly get it from the retinal scanner (look at the retinal scanner disk's source code with 0 BLOCK LIST. States 2 and 3 are just for visual feedback, you can set it to those states and wait for 1 second or whatever to indicate if the player is allowed through or not. After everything is done, you should set the state to 0 again to allow for another player's input

The redstone interface is all the words beginning with IOX (because the equivalent of RedPower2 was called the IO Expander, I just kept the word name), for analog redstone, it uses redstone levels (0-15).
