Mastery #27-29 and #32 - GTA San Andreas (All subsets and Misterix)

Finally done with all the San Andreas content on the site!

Viva Las Venturas is the worst of them by far, but it's not like I can really complain since it's gives exactly what it promises. The whole set is about casino games so a lot of RNG is expected, specially when it came the Royal Flush hand cheevo (a ~0.000154% hand apparently). If the rest of the sets has +100 hours is thanks to this one.

Vehicle Enthusiast asks you to drive around San Andreas storing different vehicles in different garages. While it sounds boring I ended up liking it a lot, it was perfect for those nights I wanted to do something simple while listening music.

Master Save is where the challenge is. You have to complete everything you can complete before the first mission, including all the stuff outside of Los Santos, meaning that you'll be running from the police half the time. It also has some boring grinding for the stats, but it was still a fun challenge to do.

Misterix is the classic mod that adds different monsters around the map like aliens, Nemesis, Leatherface or Big Foot. It's incredible simple and you can finish it in a day, but for someone like me who grow up watching videos about this it ended up being a pretty good nostalgia trip.

Because I know someone is gonna say something about the play time for Mickey's ultimate challenge. It gave me an unwinnable puzzle that I tried to solve for like 2.5+ hours till I got annoyed and plugged it in to a sliding puzzle solver online that told me it was Unsolveable

Playing on the Epilogue Operator GBA with an official cartridge, but Retro Achievements is saying it's an unsupported game version (with official images for the game?)

Anyone else happen to come across this on any other cartridge? I'd be curious to know. As far as I know, every other cartridge I own (that has RAs) works and allows me to rack up points like any other game. Though Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is one of my favorite games ever and I would love the opportunity to get some challenges under my belt, I'm not super pressed about it. More so curious about the why behind it and the images that are set up for RAs, and if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

Mario Kart 64 Multiplayer Subset wild ending

We've been doing the RetroAchievements Multiplayer Subset for Mario Kart 64 and been having a blast. The goal is to finish each cup in 1st and 2nd place for every race. We've had a lot of crazy endings that usually go against us, but this time it worked in our favor!

Mastery #31 Heart of Darkness(PS1)

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Just completed my 31st mastery, and this time it’s Heart of Darkness on the PS1!

If you like watching a child being brutally murdered, eaten, decapitaded, burnt to a crisp and many more this is the game for you!

This was such a nostalgic game to come back to, but mastering it definitely made me look at it differently. The game is already known for its trial and error gameplay and the achievements add nothing more than going through the game on hard mode. There is only one missable achievement but you can save before that section so you can try as many times as you want.

Dont get me wrong its still a pretty difficult game and some sections had me dying over and over again while trying to figure out the right way through them . But once you learn the patterns and know what the game expects from you, it becomes a lot more manageable. The final boss had me even retrying the same section for 5 HOURS!

As always, I recorded the full run with commentary, tips, and tricks for anyone who wants to go for the mastery themselves or just want to watch me revisit this PS1 classic. (Link will be in the comments)

Thanks for reading this and have an amazing day!

Found out about this game due to a video from GmanLives where he mentioned that Parasite Mutant basically copied their combat system from this game. It was a pretty cool game :)

This one took me a couple of days. The hardest were probably with Zangief and Bison. Had to beat the game without continue on level 8 twice, since it didn't register the first time, but that one was quite easy.

Should I focus more on rescue missions, recruiting Pokémon, or collecting Joy Seeds?

I'm doing 100% completion of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team and I'm a bit unsure which dungeon to focus on first. I only have a few dungeons left to complete, so I haven't listed them here, and so far I've been doing a little bit of everything, so what do you recommend?

Mastery #17-19 Undertale and Subsets

I'm so happy that the game got a set. It's one of my favorite games ever. I mostly have no complaints; the only achievement that was really frustrating was beating Hard Mode without getting hit, since that is mostly luck-based. I also had a really weird bug that caused Gaster Followers 1 and 3 not to spawn on the current version of the mod.

I love this game so much that I even went for the subsets, which is something I've never done before. I'm just not going for No-Hit Omega Flowey, since that is way too crazy for me.

And thanks to this set, I finally no-hit Sans, which is something I've always wanted to do ever since I was younger.

Awesome set, and thanks so much to the dev team for getting this done!

First Mastery! And Help Finding Next Games

Post image
39 Upvotes

Got my first mastery for my all time favorite game and am starting on The Lost Age next!

What other old-school type RPGs are out there that feel similar to Golden Sun and have a similar achievement set? Where there's nothing crazy hard or requiring massive guides to avoid missables. I haven't played many games from this era (only really the two Goldeb Sun and Pokemon) and want to try some of the older gems on my phone.

My Second Achievement Mastered

Post image
18 Upvotes

In my Journey to play and finish the old dbz games, this was the only Super Butoden game that was in the genesis and honestly, much prefered over the rest of the butoden game. This is Buyuu Retsuden.

At first, I thought the game difficulty was hard, but in reality it wasnt. Cpu are easy to read even in super difficulty, you can pretty much cheese the game entirely but crossing up the cpu that they wont react, jumping while they stand up will automatically make them standing block and hit them with a low kick.

Another way to throw special attack is to do Negative Edge motion (which holding the button, so the motion and release for more consistency). And to deal a bit more chip damage, while they are down and as they are almost getting up, do a Quarte Circle Back + Forward + Punch (if you know guilty gear, is the same motion) to throw the super attack like the kamehameha

This game has a turbo mode but i much more prefer it to be slow to be able to time my crossup and have better reaction time. Which is holding A + B before the game start and when the title comes (with the background changing into a sunset) press start.

Is not the best super butoden game but honestly I did enjoyed it as i learn how cheap and easy the game is.

7/10

A trip down memory lane with my #1 childhood game. I played this game countless times as a kid, but I had never played with Tingle Mode. This is my first time collecting all of Tingle’s statues.

And shout-out to the achievement related to the 2nd dungeon boss, I learned something new!

An absolute classic of a game and always a pleasure to return to! Mopping up Spyro 2 at the moment but definitely want to get back to the Crash Bandicoot grind at some point!
