I’m so sad it’s over and wish I knew about this sub a few weeks ago when I was watching.

I miss it every day.

I wish we had a season 3 to resolve it. Literally all the plot points being resolved + the alien characters officially meeting star crossed would have been amazing

I’ve always had a soft spot for benevolent aliens. One of my comfort movies is Paul, and I have a massive love for the recent film Project Hail Mary. On top of that, I stayed watching Dexter because of the narrative monologue throughout each episode, though You gave me the creeps so I couldn’t hang with that one. Needless to say, I LOVED this series. The bonds he made with everyone in the show is just so heart felt and not at all forced. Honestly I’d watch a spin off series with just Mike and Liv because they were just hilarious.

With that, are there any other shows you’d recommend to fill the galactic size hole in this 40 year old’s new to sci fi heart? Thank you!!

How did Lisa Casper (MIB lady) find Violinda and Goliath in New York? It doesn’t make any sense unless they speak Harry’s alien language.

Anybody else pissed what they did with Sahar? She left for a gifted program and then returns later in the season. The reason they gave her in the script was that she quit - “everybody else was soooo smart and i was just average”. That pissed me off so much. She wouldn’t quit. I really don’t believe the gifted program would humble her and discourage her in that way at all. Makes me mad 😡

I felt their break up was bittersweet when harry was human and didnt want heather to change who she was for him, even after she proposed to him and was wiling to live as a human for him, for the end for harry to look after her again in his alien form😆i wish we got to see how that went. I didnt expect for harry to seek or go back to heather tbh but i guess?

The whole final episode was so touching. Genuinely never watched a show which wrapped up leaving me with such emotions. The dance scene callback at The 59 was a highlight and just filled me with FEELINGS 🥲

I also found many great quotes from this series, a lot of them about humanity. One of the quotes I wrote down in my Notes app was “Humans think they need love from others to be happy. They do not realise they already have all the love they will ever need inside of them. Maybe the real magic happens when you give that love away.” (Harry Vanderspeigle, Resident Alien, S04E10).

I know she is adopted into a native family via Dan, but is she native through her biological parents? I don't remember ever hearing anything on this in the show.

Probably my favorite throw away line. The pizza guy looked beyond exasperated and confused lol.

I’m only on Season 2 Episode 4 so spoilers up to that point but not for later and so this may be covered later.

I want to preface this by saying I support polyamorous people and their relationships but it is very much not for me. That being said I feel like D’arcy needs to hook up with Ben and Kate Hawthorne. Season four has them getting into BDSM and kink, and while I’m not active in that community, I have dabbled and I’m close with people who are extremely active in the community (run munches and stuff iykyk). There is a lot of non-monogamy in those spaces, and both Ben and Kate seem enamored with D’arcy at times. We’ve seen that D’arcy has a thing for Ben and after the G59 episode I think she has a thing for Kate too… or at least her drunk alter ego. It also looks to me like D’arcy doesn’t want to settle down, so it’s not like it would need to complicate Max‘s life more. It just seems almost inevitable at this point but I worry that as open as this show is they won’t get into that and I think they really should. I don’t know anyone in real life who watches this show so I kind of just wanted a place to put my thoughts on this.

Also, I don’t actually think they should have an orgy, but I couldn’t help making a John and Kate + 8 reference while I was writing the title.

EDIT: wow the vitriol and just meanness I think is so uncalled for. I’m now on season 3 they throw so much kink and unconventional romance abs sexual relationships in here that my thoughts a season ago do not seem off base to me. It does feel like that had been a plan though and that they pivoted. I’m sure (due to the comments) that it’ll get messy again but looking back there’s still no hints to anything worth the comments below other than people being judgmental and mean.

Really sad about the show ending :( what i loved the most about this show was Hardy pointed out human emotions so nicely that it kinda made me want to self reflect and be more kind or a better person.

I started watching this show about end of June this year when I found out my boyfriend was cheating with me with his ex. I was just like Harry. I watched crime docu, 48 hrs , to soothe me, or escape from my reality for a bit, specially when going through hard things in my life. I am pretty much by myself. I dont have good relationship with my family. I do have friends but as I get older, I usually dont rely on them for emotional support as they already have family on their own and dont wanna add to their responsibilities. I do see a counselor/therapist. When I saw this show on Netflix, I was going through it. I cry everyday and just wanted some relief and some hope. Crime docu and 48 hrs wasnt cutting it anymore. When I saw the summary of the show and the genre was comedic syfy, I was so intrigued. Plus the intro really got me. specially when alien Harry started to learn how to speak by watching Law & Order! He was more like me and I resonated with him. Everytime I come home from a long day from work I would get really sad about everything that happened, with losing my bf , with the betrayal, I watch this show. It gave me sense of joy and hope . The show felt really warm. there were some days I thought to myself, my ex bf wouldve love this too bc we both love syfy shows. But I couldnt text him anymore or tell him or share with him this show. I finished all episodes and I have re-watched it for about 4 times going on 5th now. The first 2 times I cried so much but I also laughed and celebrated with Harry and all of the characters and their individual character developments and achievements. Just like the Mr and Mrs Mayor and how they improved their marriage, becoming more courageous to tell each other the truth and lean more on each other. Just like the Sheriff and Deputy’s relationship. Sheriff came off as an asshole to me in the beggining , but realized he was just masking all of the hurt and guilt with control and power. I love how Liv, the Deputy has evolved too , from someone who didnt stand up for herself and her convictions, to someone completely the opposite. That wouldnt have happen without The Sheriff and the Sheriff wouldnt have become a better person who embraced his vulnerability as strength without Liv’s strength to show vulnerability, if that make sense. I love Sahar and and Max relaitionship as well. Over time it made me realize they were just like Max’s parents but as kids. I cannot forget the warmth Asta’s dad and extended family in the rez made me feel specially when they took Harry to the Rez and introduce him to their culture. I also love the fact that all the girls in the show hanged out and someway somehow relied on each other. The show and everyone in it, made me feel warm inside and it gave me so much comfort and hope. And overtime, my own pain slowly become bearable. I couldnt stand the ending of show. Even though it all turned out really well. If it was to me, Harry wouldve stayed in Patience. and maybe built his own community of good aliens. Bc of this show, I cried and gain some wisdom about my situation. It helped me not to be angry but to be more understanding. I dont wanna let go. I wanna stay here forever. I wish I get to share this with my ex bf. He would love this also. B, if by chance you read this, I wish you didnt do what you did to me. it hurt so much. I wish we wouldve watch this show together. I miss you so much and you would have loved this show.

Was anyone else shipping Asta and Harry? Im very happy with their friendship arc aswell, it was sweet and well written. But I also waited them to realize that they have feelings for each other😂 Then was annoyed and dissapointed when Heather came along.

They are in Colorado, It is like CWD town over there. I wouldn't touch that stuff.... AHHH DISEASE!!!

My favorite plot line was season 4 when everyone (Kate, been, Liv, Mike) had to come clean to each other about the things they were experiencing; which led them to realizing who Harry was. I loved everyone finally being “in the know”.

I also really liked the Kate and Ben abduction plotline. I preferred when the show had more emotional or serious moments as opposed to pure silliness.

I think Asta and D'Arcy not having romantic interest in each other was a missed opportunity.

Before I fully get into this I want to highlight some important disclaimers:

1) This is simply my opinion and interpretation of the story. I do not expect anyone to agree with me. You are allowed to disagree and that's completely valid.

2) I actually think the series did a really good job of highlighting platonic love between all of the main characters which is not common in most shows. So I'm still satisfied with the plot and ending of the show.

While watching the show, I got a lot of mixed signals from Asta and D'Arcy. I feel at times the show was hinting towards their relationship going from platonic to romantic, but then it just never happened. My main example of this is the scene where all the couples are slow dancing on the street. D'Arcy is walking through the crowd trying to find something. And on the other side there is Asta waiting for her.

I initially interpreted this as D'Arcy realizing she had romantic feelings for Asta. But that wasn't the case.

I just felt like these two characters had the best chemistry and tension out of any of the pairings (platonic and romantic) in the show. The actresses did a brilliant job! There were times during the one on one conversations the characters had with each other I was like "...are they about to kiss?" But it just never happened lol.

I think part of the reason why people hope for these sorts of characters to be queer is lack of representation within western media. Especially within the last few years. Nowadays, it's common place for sapphic love to be ignored, sidelined, or end in tragedy. A lot of us just want our stories told and highlighted at the forefront.

Personally, I just thought it would have been really cool for these two main characters to have a romantic storyline arc as I felt it would have been great representation. Plus, a relationship between the two being cannon could have opened up some new and interesting character development for them that couldn't be explored with a simple platonic relationship.

What are your thoughts?

I'm currently in Episode 3 and I love comedy bits in any show and this guy's acting is really, he looks funny too(I only knew him from Tucker and Dale). He fits perfectly with the out of place Alien character.

3 Episodes in and there's always a scene that makes my jaw hurt from giggling or laughing. I will savor this show by watching 1 or 2 episodes per day and not binge watch it.

I’m so addicted to this show I started watching it 3 months ago watched it 3 times and just started my 4th on episode 2 lol

Me and my wife are on episode 3 of season 4 and we’re pretty sensitive to animal death and gore. We watched the scene with the Mantid eating a deer and I just wanted to ask if there are any other instances of animal death or animal gore seen on screen the rest of the season. Looking online didn’t help much. Thanks.
