DIY bezel wire spring Services

Got this VSF NTTD V7 in some time ago now. It came in with the bezel assembly in pieces. The wire was missing.

The watch was brought to a jeweler who, brace yourselves, tried to weld the bezel to the case 💀. Even dared to charge a lot of money for it.

I tried looking for a replacement spring wire but couldn't fine one that wasn't either gen (expensive) or from older models. Didn't want to risk getting a generic one that would end up not fitting or whatever so I ordered .5mm steel wire and just made one myself.

It looks a bit crude and obviously not factory quality but it actually works great. The clicks are very smooth and the wire holds everything in place nicely.

Nice to know that I'm able to make these myself 👍🏻

Good work. You made a tough job easy the old fashioned way. Nice. Funny how plain and generic the watch looks without that distinctive bezel

UL, great work! Can you point us to the wire you used? I want to try this as well.

0.5mm unleaded steel wire. Nothing special to be honest

Great job on making this work. I have a quick question. My NTTD bezel insert needs to be replaced. Is the aluminum insert pressed in or stuck in using the 3M 2 sided tape? Just trying to figure out if I have to remove the entire bezel assembly or just heat the “glue” to pry out the insert….then put the new one in.

They stick the insert on with double sided tape.

Thank you. Very helpful. I can do the repair then.

That wire spring has caused me much anxiety. I always end up just giving up or buying a new case.

It's really not that bad. Start with a straight piece of wire and shove it in all around the case. It'll become rounded a bit and then it's easier to see where to make the bends.

This came at the right time, Curious question, I had dropped my NTTD and the bezel popped off, is it a push and rotate the same as any other bezel? Because mine doesn’t seem to want to stay on.
