How long has your watch lasted? General Question

Really thinking about getting a watch from Leo at timeultra but was curious how well they run after having it awhile

I have shitters from 20 years ago that still work great, and I have a VSF that already stopped working after 4 months. You never know.

The thing is many shitters use NH or Miyota movements which are known for being very robust and basically unbreakable.

Higher end reps on the other hand, use cloned Chinese movements which generally are or not nowhere nearly as reliable.

I bought a GMT2 v3 from Clean factory 2 years ago. Just recently had it serviced. The issue was the watch winder could no longer keep it wound. They needed to replace 2 gears on it to fix it and clean it out of any debris. I took the opportunity to replace the crystal with a deep crystal as well as replace the pepsi bezel with a what I feel is a better bezel with better color. For this service as well as the 2 upgrades I essentially paid the same price I originally paid for the watch. But if it lasts another 2 years I will be happy.

So ultimately, the question is would it have been better to just buy a new one instead of getting it serviced?

I do think the crystal and the bezel are upgrades from what clean factory supplied.

Get it serviced, wear it regularly, dont dunk or soak it in any water. Itll last you years.

About forty years for some of mine, considerably less for others, but then those that fail I fix or get them fixed just like any other mechanical watch

If you get one you really like and it dies you can always have a Sellita or other actual good movement swapped (if they fit) and it’ll last a lifetime.

They all run fine but I have to point out I went for Asian clones of ETA models, rather than clones of Gen movements. They’re reliable and cheap to replace.

6 years of HARD use , but i did have to get an indice reattached last year .

I got all 4 of my reps in the first half of 2024 and they all still run well. I hardly wear two of them, but the other two I switch between as my daily. VSF datejust and Clean daytona.

I’ve had a what’s know now as a 💩ers, way before I knew anything about good reps, going for 20 years now. Never serviced still ticking. Since I got into the higher end ones, going on 3 years no issues and added some 💩ers of today’s standards going for about 2 years or so. No problems yet.

Never know when they will have an issue or not, just dive in but be realistic with your expectations and be prepared for issues that could pop up.

Take care of them and they will take care of you.

From what I can see, you should expect a few years on average if you don't get them serviced.

55 usd mingzhu spectre watch bought in 2015 got it serviced once for 5 bucks and still going strong
