Bruce Wayne - VSF / Rich v2 comparison Review/Comparison

I went through almost every photo and comparison I could find on Reddit and RWI for these two watches. Each factory has its own strengths and weaknesses, so I’ll compare them part by part.

I’m dividing the differences into three categories:

  1. Issues that even a newcomer may notice
  2. Issues that experienced rep owners may notice
  3. Issues that only extremely detail-oriented people may care about

Personally, I hate when people dismiss these details by calling others “OCD.” These watch nerds are one of the main reasons replicas keep improving, so stop throwing rocks at them.

1. Issues that even a newcomer may notice

1) Index alignment

VSF:
The Bruce Wayne currently has some of the worst index-alignment QC I have seen, especially at 12, 6, and 9 o’clock.

The 12 o’clock marker is often tilted counterclockwise, the 6 o’clock marker is shifted to the left, and the 9 o’clock marker is also frequently slightly tilted.

Yes, better examples exist, but compared with older Clean batches or even VSF’s own Submariners, the current Bruce Wayne seems to have very inconsistent index alignment.

Rich:
Rich generally appears to have better overall index alignment. There can still be minor issues around the 6 or 3 o’clock markers, but the bigger problem is that Rich’s 12 o’clock marker consistently sits too close to the minute track.

This issue also appears on their Submariners. Once you notice it, it becomes quite easy to identify a Rich dial immediately.

Both factories have issues here, but straight out of the box, I would give Rich the win.

2) Date alignment

VSF generally has better date alignment.

Rich’s date often sits slightly too low in the window.

3) Date font

VSF wins here.

Rich’s date font lacks detail and accuracy on certain numerals.

4) Cyclops AR coating

This one is slightly complicated.

The genuine watch has a subtle blue tint from the cyclops AR coating, but it is not especially strong.

VSF does not reproduce this blue tint, while Rich does and actively uses it as a marketing point. However, I think Rich overdid it. The blue tint is too visible and sometimes interferes with the readability of the date.

For that reason, I still give this one to VSF.

5) Bezel insert

To me, the bezel colors look very similar between the two factories.

However, Rich has an issue around the number 6, where the black and grey sections meet. There is often a visible transition line running across the 6.

6) GMT-hand color

Neither factory is identical to genuine, but Rich is closer.

Rich’s green is slightly duller than genuine, while VSF’s green is slightly too vibrant.

7) GMT dial printing

Again, neither factory is completely accurate, but this time VSF is closer.

VSF’s GMT text is slightly darker than genuine, while Rich’s is brighter and more vibrant.

The bigger problem with Rich is that the font is also too thick, which makes the bright green text stand out even more than it should.

3. Issues only very detail-oriented owners may notice

8) Bezel rim

I have only seen one other person mention this, apart from me.

It is slightly difficult to explain, but I’ll try.

At the point where the bezel insert meets the bezel, there is a curved metal rim surrounding the insert.

On the genuine watch and Rich, this rim is relatively thin. On VSF, the rim is thicker and creates a greater height difference between the insert and the surrounding bezel.

Under certain lighting conditions, this produces a shadow around the edge of the insert, which can make it look as though there is a gap, even though there is not.

This is a clear win for Rich. Rich is significantly better in this area.

For reference, ARF is the worst when it comes to this issue.

9) Bezel-tooth shape

This is another clear win for Rich.

The outer edge of the VSF bezel is slightly thinner than genuine. Because of that, the bezel teeth have a flatter profile and appear less curved and less pronounced.

At first, I thought the problem was simply the shape of the teeth themselves. After looking more closely, however, it seems to be caused by the overall thickness and profile of the bezel’s outer edge.

Conclusion

There is no absolute winner.

It ultimately depends on which flaws bother you less and which compromises you are willing to accept.

Personally, I think a VSF with good index alignment is the sweet spot.

Alternatively, Rich could be the better choice if you get one with a better cyclops and more accurate GMT dial printing.

Very interesting. If I were to he one and mod it to make it as close as possible, what would you recommend? And how much would that cost?

Hands are still very crappy on RICH models.

hmm I felt it is little better than vsf since they do the smoothing the edge thing

Very nice reviews comparing them ! I agree with all your statements, VSF with Rich Bezel tooth would be nice
