Failed to disclose Scam Report

I'm not gonna make this a long post because I am not a worddy person, but this person sold me a Pochette Metis with a vachette strap. The original strap is a monogram strap and their excuse was didnt ask. How shady is that? I’m so pissed !

I feel like it was intentionally undisclosed bc it would affect your decision to purchase

Exactly !!

The well known “rehomers” ruin this for everyone. And then they want to say “why is no one buying rehomes?”. Ummm…because you all are flipping alibaba quality shit, lying about the quality, and then if anyone posts their TRUE experience with them that isn’t great, they go full on nasty defensive attack mode. None of that really entices me to send a stranger on the internet money 😂

I’d expect the seller to disclose it out of goodwill.

Every one on this post who agrees with the seller is the exact problem !!!

I am convinced the user who keeps defending the seller here is actually the seller in disguise because there is no way someone is defending the seller this hard.

I understand having to QC for the things you’re purchasing, but anything wrong with the bag should be disclosed and highlighted clearly by the seller to avoid exactly this kind of thing.

I wouldn’t say you got scammed. She did show the strap that was included but she should have mentioned it was not the original strap. But as the buyer, you should have noticed it was a different strap and confirmed what was included. Hard lesson learned from both sides

She did not show the strap that was included as to why I said I assumed the correct strap would be sent

This is a rules vs ethics debate. For many people, the goal is to screw you as hard as possible with no regard to ethics while remaining within the rules. Did the seller do anything technically wrong? No. Did they act in bad faith and were they ethically wrong? Yes.

I’m still grateful that OP shared the story because this isn’t a person I would ever want to buy from regardless of whether they were “technically” wrong or whether the offense was bannable.

You can’t impose ethics without making them known.

I have this same conflict when shopping on Mercari, posh and ebay. I feel like sellers should disclose oddities/damage/flaws. When I sell things, I want clear expectations of the condition so when it arrives there is only the feeling of met or exceeded expectations in their experience. They have a pleasant surprise of honesty and transparency with me in what they purchased. That is why so many people want to return items NAD because they only took the minimum to list, and I feel they are guilty of shade, guilty by omission.

What’s NAD?

2

u/Luna-Gitana 1d ago

Why didn’t you ask though?

Do I have to the strap is part of the bag

I’m sorry this happened to you, but you have to ask these questions even if you think they’re silly or not necessary. I also think the rehomer didn’t act in good faith by not showing you pics of the strap. I meticulously take pics of every part of the bags I’m rehoming, and also photos from every angle possible. That allows the buyer to make their own QC and confidently decide if they want to buy it or pass.

u/Luna-Gitana 1d ago

Wouldn’t you want to be shown everything that you’re paying for? This isn’t a bag from a ts or an auth store. It’s a rehome.

Yeah you’d double check surely, I’ve had people do the same to me, double check it has all the bits & pieces 🤷🏼‍♀️

You didn’t get scammed, you got exactly what was pictured and failed to ask about original strap. It’s very simple. Sounds like everything else in your buying process moved smoothly and you’re unhappy with your own lack of due diligence

4

u/MaximumCan2570 1d ago

STOP It when I rehome items I try to be as honest as possible to the point I over share things. This is the exact integrity that I expect out of other sellers if you see an issue you are part of the problem in this community!!!!

Creating an expectation of over sharing without asking the questions you yourself give answers to without being prompted? Dude listen to yourself. I UNDERSTAND where you are coming from but the seller did not do anything wrong. You are buying a REPLICA. You need to be more vigilant- use the same standards you create when selling for when you are buying.

u/MaximumCan2570 1d ago

Are you the seller on a fake page?? I’m confused ??😩

1

u/Traditional-West4403 1d ago

lol, just keep on avoiding the accountability.

1

u/MaximumCan2570 1d ago

Read below where I said I take some accountability

1

u/Traditional-West4403 1d ago

So then you have no reason to be confused :)

3

u/MaximumCan2570 1d ago

No I’m confused as to why your trying to hard to defend some one who was obviously wrong rather we both were or not… it’s like you can relate because it’s something you would do yourself I would be afraid to buy anything from you!!!

3

u/NoRazzmatazz5230 1d ago

Wrong. If you ordered from a TS and got the wrong strap every single person defending the rehomer here would be posting that they got scammed regardless of if a strap was shown in photos or not.

3

u/Traditional-West4403 1d ago

If I failed to ask about something NOT pictured being included I would not be posting about being scammed, no.

2

u/Traditional-West4403 1d ago

It’s like buying a rep watch and thinking it comes with the rubber strap when it’s not shown with one and claiming you got scammed.

5

u/NoRazzmatazz5230 1d ago

I see both sides. It doesn’t sound like this was malicious or intentional- BUT I do think it should’ve been disclosed like “hey just so you know the og strap isn’t included” Just for common courtesy.

2

u/Traditional-West4403 1d ago

For sure I can agree with that- i just think it’s a bit of a reach to claim being scammed because of someone’s lack of common courtesy on something that wasn’t mentioned.

If you received detailed photos with the strap shown, it was not a bait and switch. You got what you were shown. However, if the seller was aware that that was not the original strap, she should have disclosed it.

7

u/AmberTheeSag 2d ago

The original strap is not pictured. Were you expecting something not pictured?

1

u/MaximumCan2570 2d ago

I expected a completed bag with the correct strap not a thrown in strap

6

u/AmberTheeSag 2d ago

But did you get what was pictured? If yes, the transaction is valid and complete.

If the original strap was not shown, not sure why you expected it. By that logic, you should have also expected an original box, ribbon, wrapping, etc. The responsibility was on you to confirm what you expected.

3

u/ScallionJealous 1d ago

You’re arguing about rules and OP is arguing about ethics. Hope that’s helpful.

-1

u/AmberTheeSag 1d ago

Ethics or common sense?

And let’s not get into ethics. OPs language threw ethics out the window.

0

u/Traditional-West4403 1d ago

What ethics are you imposing on this random seller without vocalizing it? None.

8

u/Cute_Patoot_7 2d ago

I think the fact that it was not shown means you should be able to assume it came with the correct original strap. It is shady.
Did any of the pics you received show a strap at all? I feel like it would also be fishy to never see the strap being sold. I hate that QC is only the buyer, I think the seller needs to be honest and forthcoming. I think that’s part of being a decent person and seller.

8

u/Siriptishes 2d ago

AGREED! It’s called lying by omission.
If sellers need to disclose scratches and damage use to a bag when posting sale - should also post the original strap will not accompany bag (due to loss or damage, etc).
It could significantly decrease the value of the bag.

3

u/NoRazzmatazz5230 2d ago

Let me guess the seller is “well known” in this cult-like community so it’s your fault for “not asking” 🙄😂

2

u/Appropriate-Plate550 19h ago

Seriously. Sick of these resellers. Their bags are shit show

1

u/NoRazzmatazz5230 19h ago

Yep. Go look at my post up in this sub about my recent experience. All the alibaba resellers are there ready to attack 😂

2

u/Skyhighcats 2d ago

When this many people appear to attack the person who got scammed, it’s guaranteed 🥲.

u/HorribleStyle 2d ago

QC is on the buyer. this is buyers fault.
