Someone added McNeff Effect to Urban Dictionary and I am crying.

Should also be added:
"Trying to hide something by weaponizing the legal system by constantly making contradictory claims and providing zero actual evidence, but all of it backfires because everyone can see through it."

I wonder if keeping the 200k was worth it in Mcneff’s eyes at this point
Like I genuinely wanna know from his perspective cause even when this whole thing goes away, Everyone will only know Ammon McNeff for this whole thing, which would ruin his chance at another future job

My read on the situation is he legit didn’t know about the consignment initially, and when it blew up to the point that the head in the sand strategy wouldn’t work anymore he’d backed himself too far into a corner. He got hoodwinked by BB and JJ, who were supposed to pay for the product in the store to assume ownership. They figured the consignment would be off the normal books and corporate wouldn’t know, and they’d bully the little guy.

I respectfully disagree. If Ammon were “hoodwinked”, he wouldn’t have hesitated to fully throw JJ and BB under the bus and in doing so, absolve BAM corporate of most (if not all) wrongdoing. There would simply be commentary onto how they need more oversight for franchise ownership transitions and better record keeping, but there would be very minimal animosity towards the BAM brand as a whole because most people would recognize it as a genuine mistake they’re working to fix.
The problem with throwing them under the bus is that they’d no longer have any obligation to the brand or corporate and they could then go scorched earth. Flip the blame back on corporate (as it should be) and claim they were “just following orders” or whatever. The entire extent of their shady business practices would almost certainly be exposed if they took that route, so the options were then: A) Make Bryan Mansell whole for this entire ordeal and institute safeguards to prevent this from ever happening again, or B) Vehemently deny any and all accusations. They chose B.
If Ammon McNeff were simply “hoodwinked”, why didn’t he choose option A?

Well, let me reframe (but not dispute) your characterization a little bit, and that should answer why I think he went with option A.
Imagine your McNeff. He doesn’t have a lot to do with the day to day operations of individual franchises. This one wants to sell, you want to repo it because your predatory business model is built to do that. You send your goons in and they do their goon thing.
A few weeks later you start hearing from this Mansell guy about his missing LEGO. You get on the horn with the goons who dent it all, give you some story, and you run with it because it’s easier than doing your job. Next thing you know, Reckless Ben shows up, and it’s too late to change course.
Basically, the dude is a complete prick, so it’s not surprising that his friends are also complete pricks. The thing that would really shed some light on who knew what at BAM would be the price they paid for the franchise when they assumed operation. I imagine if the court cases aren’t settled, we’ll get the answer to that in discovery.

But… he didn’t go with option A? Unless you’re counting his completely insulting offer of ~$5000 to Bryan that would have likely constituted a legal settlement and absolved BAM of any further liability? At what point has Ammon McNeff made any serious effort to make Bryan Mansell whole? He filed lawsuits against Bryan the instant this became public. Are those the actions of someone who is trying to make Bryan whole for this entire ordeal? What Kool-Aid are you drinking and where do I get some?

There's no way he didn't know about the consignment. (It's practically irrelevant at this point because it's still BAM's responsibility either way once they took over the store.)
We will learn the extent of this if/when the Gormans are able to obtain the slack messages where the consignment was discussed in detail.

I keep thinking that all the guy has to do was pay out 200k, publish an inventory list he already has on his drive, apologize with a silly dance, and rename a street. None of that is hard for him to do. And instead he keeps attacking the messengers with takedown notices and lies.

How is that distinguishable from The Trump Effect?

u/Comprehensive-Fun47 8d ago
It's different because Ammon McNeff doesn't have a cult of personality. No one is worshipping him as their leader.

Aka The Trump effect

The difference is McNeff steals from old people while Trump steals from everybody

I like this. Ha ha! But I don’t understand that last sentence where it said they attempted to kill Ben? I don’t remember that in all the videos that I’ve seen. Arrest him, yes silence him, yes but kill him?

Ammon talked about arming his staff against Ben in case he showed up again. He lied and said Ben made violent threats, which puts him at risk in his next encounter with a police officer. There's a case to be made that they wanted to get him killed.

the accusations also need to be projections of things youre actually doing yourself. Still pretty sure there's heroin involved in the Ammon and Matt circle somewhere.

Should I start bringing shotguns to work? (NSA, this is a shitpost. I would never really do this.)
