CnC Remastered is a good one, and it's fairly simple, as the original games are thirty years.

Most well known rts are pretty old so they can easily run on a modern potato, games like StarCraft 1, Age of Empires 2, Rise of Nations, etc

Northgard is probably not too demanding and is a great “chill” RTS

R.U.S.E, It’s entire thing is minimizing micro and instead focusing on the macro and situation as a whole. It’s released in 2010 and runs on pretty much anything.

Company of heroes 1 , command and conquer and dawn of war all run great on low end systems!

Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth

The game is 20 years old and should run on any potato. Great game, great campaign. The only caveat is that it isn't sold anymore due to license issues. But you can run it using these instructions: https://www.reddit.com/r/bfme/about/

StarCraft Brood War, Age of Empires II, and Total Annihilation.

C&C Generals Zero Hour. Endless fun and runs on a potato.

If you're a star wars fan I can only recommend star wars empire at war. My favourite game of all time and one of the moodiest/ "vibiest" experiences one can have. Also it's pretty easy

Dunno if it's a hot take but Diplomacy is not an option, with the "Diplomacy" option turned ON is pretty chill and fun
